idk if they used any CATs but i watched the landing again and agian to catch something and i didnt see nuthen lol. only thing i noticed is that he just missed the piano keys and imideatly after touchdown thrust revers and spoilers were at work. witch leads me to think that the only "scary" about this landing is that the runway was a tad shorter than average and or he came in to hot.

Trust me, I've been in landings hard enough that have caused people to scream... this isn't a scary landing. Looks like a typical landing in a storm to me, they happen everyday... no big deal.

Especially when you have a rain soaked runway like that the pilots don't have time to play around with a gentle landing, they need to get the plane planted firmly on the runway to ensure it doesn't overshoot. Hard landings should almost be expected when you have a runway as wet as that one was.

Excellent piloting! I know how you felt though. This past Summer I was on a Virgin America flight into Boston from San Francisco, and we descended and landed in the midst of a Nor Easter thunder storm. It's the first time I ever felt nervous flying. It's understandble. Heavy rain means you can;t see what;s going on outside, and seeing lightining flash while you're still in midair and turbulent, bumpy descent can be nerve-wracking. I just had faith in the Pilot - they are trained well for this.

It is normal procedure to "drop" the aircraft in rainny and gusty conditions to avoid aquaplanning, otherwise the aircraft might lose steering and braking ability.

These are moments when you can be proud of being a pilot. It's really nice to have some challenge between boring flights with nice weather, don't you think? By the way they are expecting a snowstorm after 6th of December and I ve got a flight at 8th in the morning Budapest-Larnaca-Budapest. We will shake a bit the crowds but anyways. Very nice video by the way. That lighting really looked scary but no need to panic, modern planes are goodly prepared for such situations. Regards! Gregory George.
