He wanted to go to Iraq because of the very clear connection between Saddam's financing of terrorism, his disregard for UN resolutions, and for firing on craft in the no fly zone.

Maybe the best thing is he was called in to rescue the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. He streamlined the planning, got rid of the corruption, and shaped the event so that it actually produced a profit for the host city when most host cities lose billions on the games. Sounds like the kind of help we need in Washington D.C.
