What is Amniotic Band Syndrome?

for 17 years i didn't know i was born with ABS. i have deformed fingers but im grateful since i could do everything a regular person can do. I thought it was because i was born 9 weeks premature. i always wondered why me. Why didnt my mom wait 9 more weeks so i could be a regular person. Now knowing my condition could have been a lot worse if i did.

I was born with ABS too. I'm missing my left pinky, and most of my fingertips, my right foot is way smaller than my left, and my left was a club foot. I've never met anyone else with ABS, so it's really cool to know you guys exist.

I'm 16, a drummer, and I got ABS; I refer to it as "Stumps for Fingers Disease". My musical endeavors have helped me deal with this bullshit for years.

But what causes the amnion to rupture? And how do amniotic bands cause cleft lip? Is it due to severe endometrial inury e.g. from EA? See Mukul and Linn Obstet Gynecol. 2005 May;105(5 Pt 2):1179-82.
