I once had a kit of the creature from the black lagoon that I tested a neat trick on. To create good texture detail on this type of kit, I used a heat-controlled soldering iron, to melt the detail and grooves in, then I brushed on some acetone to clean up the work. It should help you fix this up fairly quickly. Always a good idea to test this out on an area that is not in full view at first. Works like a charm once you get the hang of it.
I'm working on electronics for the rest of March '09. This guy needs some serious putty work all around. As you are asking about, I will make an effort sometime in April to see what I can do. I want to get into some scratch builds and the putty work needed on this can dovetail with that.
I've watched a few G movies since posting this and was surprised to see it there. It's amazing how you can look at something for so long and never see what's really there until you start to study the situation. Hoping to get back to this model in the next few weeks or so.
Sorry to hear about your Mummy kit. I had the Revell version of the Aurora G Kit when i was a kid. Seams on any G kit are likely bad. As for the garage kit comment, the big G is Polar Lights and the little G is from Bandaii. Both are legit castings.
More video logs of this G build will be posted as I work on it. I need to get some Aves epoxy before proceeding.
Have you seen another Godzilla kit??..to compare the molding on this one..as i just purchased a aurora/polar lights Mummy kit and most of the base was missing!!..the mold was all out on the base and part of the front plate was gone!!..this in my opinion makes me think that plastic kit makers just didn't bother looking in there kits!!..
This kit looks like an early 1980's garage kit by the quality of it.. lot of work - any post of the finished painted kit would be cool
I love this kit

I will keep this idea in mind! It could be dangerous. It cocld be good. I will test it whent he time comes!
My idea now is to get some Aves apoxie, roll that into strands like the skin that's there and work them into the seams.
