I've owned this bass for about half a year. I've got to say if you want something that sounds like a upright for blues or jazz this bass is the best on the market. I've upright for a long time and this bass is great for sounding like a upright. It's also great for early rock and rockabilly. Even if it is a epiphone I would seriously use this on a stage for blues, jazz or early rock.
I knew a guy who had this bass. He played in a local band that did covers. It was a really great sounding bass. Pretty Versatile too because he covered several forms of rock
i bought this a few months ago, and sold it...i mean it's actually a pretty good bass for the price, i used it for a acoustic project...never worked! lol , but yes it's a good bass for fun...but, dunno' it's quite fragile, i'm used to my solid fenders, and that shit.
HEY! i want a bongo, so much! never seen one actually ): can you make a review or somethin' if you see one?
Just terribly impractical for a demonstration video for this kind of bass is all, MUCH less than a 'no covers' rule. But I suppose we all have our tendancies.
@arbitermatt Did I say the beatles invented this bass, you douche ? It's a very common nickname for Viola Basses, Hofner 500/1s, and all other knock offs of that style body, go try and find someone else to agitate with your useless comments.
i wanna buy me one beatle bass....but im not sure ... Hofner or Epiphone Viola bass :S
Sublime3898 7 months ago
@Sublime3898 Hofner for sure. get the real deal
alittledeadbirdtold 6 months ago
@Sublime3898 Epiphone. The hofners are only popular because of their name. the epiphone one is actually better. I do love the hofner though.

kusmenklote187 2 years ago
dont count on it!
PippoBlues93 2 years ago
Nope. The tone is way too "round" and the sound blooms slowly.

He's playing a Hofner copy with "Band on the Run" playing in the background... that's pretty ironic.

Would one of these work in drop d for stoner metal? I have wrist problems so I like the neck and the weight is great.
Parabellum13X 2 years ago
I would not play this bass very heavily, it just wasn't built for that type of genre.
privateproperty86 2 years ago
Lol, what do you consider stoner metal? What bands? XD

lovely little bass. I wouldnt go slapping on it though. That would be like me slapping my fretless acoustic.

He could have played along with Paul in the background with "Band On The Run"
Nice video

Ya i almost did, a few times. But i have a no cover rule, for me. Real hard sometimes, to play the unknown. But that keeps the focus on the bass. Thx
universalrenote 2 years ago
How about a "no slapping on a beatle bass" rule ? Seems much more appropriate...
Rendell05 2 years ago
Only rule i go by is, what ever the funk i want! But i see your point.Thx!
