Did you turn WiFi off before playing? Apparently the network manager keeps scanning for access points, gobbling up CPU time. It could be what causes stutters.
They didn't want to risk breaking WiFi just before shipping, so they decided to deal with it later. (probably in a month or so)
@BikeHelmetMk2 I didn't turn off wifi, but I saw the sd card access light go on whenever it stuttered, so I thought that was the cause. I'll try turning off wifi to see if that fixes it.
@Dddef0 If that doesn't work, try notaz's background killer. It shuts off lots of stuff not required for most emus/games, but possibly required to run other programs.
You have to run it before running another PND. It's not heavily tested yet.
Odd... I can't seem to post with the URL in the comment.
@BikeHelmetMk2 I just tried the with wifi off and after using the background killer, and the stutters were still there. It's definitely stuttering whenever it accesses the SD card for some reason. =/
If I had to guess why, I'd say your card has a lower IOPS capability. Maybe it's capable of 120*64K reads/writes rather than 480*16K reads/writes. Same speed when saving/opening pictures, but for running an OS or playing games (which may require lots of small file reads/writes), there'll be a huge difference.
Now... why are the IOPS getting used? Some problem with the emulator? Some issue with how linux handles ISO files? The card reader firmware? Hmm... mystery!
OMG YES! Thanks you so much for showing off Kirby Super Star running on it, it was something I was gonna ask for on the forums. FInally, I can play Kurby Super Star wherever I go!
Even better, you showed off all of the other games I plan on playing on my Pandora which I couldn't do on my GP2X. You, sir, are awesome and so is the Pandora. Long live Pandora's Box! :)
Hey could you please test the mode7 rendering in Pilotwings (especially the skydiving sequenz). I have seen many emulators but so far no portable one ever did this right (including snes9x on the psp)
can you use illegal roms and emulators?

Very promising - does this build support, screen stretching/scaling and graphical filters?

I love that Kirby Super Star works with sound but after listening to Zelda I gotta say the sound quality could use some work lol.

Holy beans it gets loud. Do you have the volume up or do you just have the camera close to the speaker?
exodous02 1 year ago
@exodous02 It was at about half-volume, but the camera was rather close to the Pandora.

@Dddef0 "I just tried the with wifi off"? I should really read comments over before posting. ;p

Stutters? Interesting. What class SDHC card are you using?
bce23w 1 year ago
@bce23w It's a PQI class 6 card, so I'm a bit surprised with the stutters, too.
