the tricks you are doing are pretty beginner, not to be offensive or mean or anthing, but i think they are, and advice, jumping barefoot tears up your feet, its bad for you, trust me, jump rope is my life im on a team, go to competition, and i would know, its not good...
@p1kl3bunny the jump rope is a simple nylon jump rope. available online on the sites jumprm or jumprope. it only costs a few bucks. i've had some really nice ones but i prefer the simply cheap ones.
if you jump without shoes be warned that it WILL hurt if you catch your toes-- and when most people jump with shoes they tend to catch the rope more often when starting out. My opinion is to jump with the rope as much as you can unless you're in my position like in a MMA gym where you can't wear shoes on the mats :(
@Yellowknight888 i like jumping barefoot, in socks, or in those vibram 5 finger shoes. a lot of people jump just fine in regular shoes, so i guess its just a personal preference though. give it a try!
@smithms176 I jump with running shoes, but I think boxing shoes will be better. By the way, when I do the side swing, I go like this: regular -> left hand reached to the right underneath the right hand and both pointing to the right -> then smoothly turn to the left across the chest with both hands now on the left side but my left hand is still underneath my right hand. I saw yours is quite different, as each hand takes turn to be on top, could you explain step by step? It looks sick!
@Yellowknight888 if you jump without shoes dont mess up or your toes will forever hate you. or if you jump barefoot just dont do any double unders or go to fast.
when i jumproped last year i was good, but i wasnt able to jumprope the next year because of the weather and now i am not good at jumping rope. please tell me how to get better at it !!!!!!!!!!!!! : ) thanx
@Natalie135791 the only thing i can really recommend is practice. you'll be surprised how quickly you improve if you skip on a regular basis. good luck!
@JacksonMichaelBAD are you sure you have the right times? it looks like I am just doing a basic side swing in the times you indicated. double check and let me know. either way, feel free to send me a message and I'll do what I can to run you through it.
@JacksonMichaelBAD I see. that move really is as simple as it looks. you just swing the rope side to side. you're not even jumping the rope. its just a resting trick, or a good way to transition between different steps. the one in that video is different from mine though. in his, he does one swing on each side. in mine i do 2 swings on each side. kinda hard to explain without being able to show you, but I assure you its very basic. just watch the video and keep practicing!
wow. going barefoot. that is brave. i used to do barefoot but i kept whipping my feet and bruising them up. i usually at least wear socks now. flawless jumping.
@xHOTDAMNxHBx there are 2 ropes in this video, a long handle and a short handle. both are really inexpensive (they do break occasionally, but still good ropes and only 4$ or 5$ a piece). available on the website jumprope.com. there is also some available on jumprm.com.
i was just wondering, how long have you been training, or how is it called, with the rope? i'm thinking about starting and i think your work is just brilliant. so if you have the time maybe to point me on how i should organise my training, how many hours per week etc, and maybe some videos, basically anything that would help i would really appreciate it. or if you're on holidays sometimes in my country that's also ok :D
@eViLiZeD0707ve been skipping rope for several years now. it doesnt take long to get good though. just try to do a little bit 3 times a week or so. if you lift weights maybe throw in some small jump rope sets inbetween weight sets to keep your heart rate up. the best advice i can give you is just to keep it up! it sounds generic, but you'll get good fast. check out videos on youtube for ideas and the website jumprm has a cool podcast too that helped me a lot
@smithms176 i'll try as you say. don't lift weights though, but i'm pretty fit so it shouldn't be a problem i suppose, atleast in that area. thanks :)
The trick are not good compared to what I have to do for the comp. Try shorten your rope ot looks long for you (put knots in it)

I'm going to try my hand at jump roping barefoot at the gym. How is it on your feet? No one complained about you being barefoot right?
6ft7inHIBread 1 year ago
not hard on my feet at all. I sometimes get complaints about wearing socks. depends on the gym really.
smithms176 1 year ago
Flawless roping!
