  • I love it when you present us outsiders with japanese food. keep it coming. thanks for sharing cool japanese food with us.

  • Ugh, God, I love/hate Japanese bakeries. I gained so much weight because of them. You want savory? Got it. You want something sweet for desert? Got it. DELICIOUS TRAP.

  • Curry Pan!! ( Curry bread )

  • i love these japanese food videos :DD keep them coming :)

  • Looks like a pastry shop

  • Meronpan is a bread with another type of dough stretched over it, then scored to look like a typical Japanese cartoon melon. It has no other association with melons.

  • I used to go to Jusco when I lived in Japan and they had a bakery connected to the supermarket. We always used to get the bread that was green and was made to look like a panda! It was filled with melon cream. So good :)

  • Its like, a place from my dreams. I am a huge bread lover and all of those looked so Oishi!

I want a place like that in the states :(

  • i would like to see u go to a raditional soba restaurant...... and eat soba and tempura...yummlol

  • an-pan!

  • :( i miss japan :(((((((

  • seems more like sandwiches or meals than just bread

  • for Germans Japan is known for the worst bread in the whole world... rly it's just too soft. But still, the japanese bread i like the most is the one with nuts and cheese. And i also like カレーパン :)

  • @yistgleichmmalxplusb and the country of Germany itself is known for its worst food..

  • @bakaanikimachisu Such as Bretzel, ソーセージ, bratwurst and sauerkraut!? No, really, which did you try and didn't like?

  • @yistgleichmmalxplusb I really liked Beer & Sauseges. However ( My impression)German cuisine in general is a very humble meal. They don't know how to cook with a delicate control of heat. It basically consists of preserved food (sauerkrault, icebine etc)so, it tastes plain, not much flavors like Japanese cuisine. Also there is not much greens- fresh vegetables. It's very greasy. And bread is rough like a sawdust

I love Italian & French food but sorry, German & British food, not appealing at all.

  • @bakaanikimachisu I agree on Eisbein being not appealing. I never tried it though. Just the thought of eating it makes me wanna throw up^^ But we use fresh veggies! I think that just depends on the person. And to be honest I usually eat japanese rice and other jpns dishes... and many germans just eat spagetthi and pizza. german cuisine is as multicultural as the people :)

  • @yistgleichmmalxplusb That's very true. I believe Germans eat lots of vegetables too. That's depend on a person as you said. Even some Japanese doesn't like veggies.

Also there are immigrants from all over the places come into Germany, so food in Germany is getting more multicultrural for sure.

But I really liked German beer and sauseges.

  • it has melon extract in, no?

  • @bummedkumquat

    No, I don't think so.

  • ooaaahh *w* oishi!! >.<

  • I don't know if you've ever tried it, but how about a video on Dorea? I've been curious about it since that crazy over dramatized commercial I saw for it on the Meiji website. And there's only one video up of some kid eating it but we don't actually see him eat. Plus it's in Japanese, so I'm in the dark as to how it actually tastes.

So if you do it can you do the full review for it. As supposedly the texture drastically changes based on how long you wait to eat it. Something like that.

    Thanks!

  • This video made me hungry.

  • Anpan(sweetened red beans filled buns) should have been included!!

    Japanese exclusive!! ^_^

Ordinary loaf of bread also should be mentioned. They are huge compare to American version and taste much better, not surprisingly more expensive.

  • Advice: Do not watch this after eating a whole pizza and garlic bread.

  • Wow, your teeth are so white! O.O

  • My favourite is 明太フランス!!! could eat it everyday! :P

  • are you and ryuuhei going out together?

i think you have that so called "harmony" :)

  • i dont live in japan, i live in cali, in korea town, their bread is similar, soft and light textures, varied fillings and toppings, i love love love coffee bread, it smells like coffee, and inside is a light not too sweet cream filling (i cant handle too many sweet things) just right for my taste buds

  • @LuckyxTurtle that's because Koreans are always copying Japan.

  • @bakaanikimachisu you can't make that assumption because they both learn from the french

  • @LuckyxTurtle You got it wrong. Bread was introduced to Japan from Portugal in 15th century. And during 19th century, many Japanese started to make their original bread and pastries( such as Anpan that is only enjoyed in Japan) in port towns such as Kobe and Yokohama. Since rice is our staple diet, bread has been long considered as a secondary food so that's why it took that long times to settle in Japanese food culture.Koreans started to know about bread only after the annexation by Japan.....

  • @bakaanikimachisu food history 8D *clap clap* but don't get your cherries tied up sheesh. all i did was make a comment about me living in an area where i am not influence by japanese food,( unless i drive 5 miles out) but something similar, gawd. CALM DOWN

  • @LuckyxTurtle ........in 1910. During 1910 to 1945, many Japanese cultures and food were introduced to Korea such as Taiyaki, Takoyaki, also Japanese styled bread. Korean calls bread 'Pan' same as Japanese called it. That's b/c the word was introduced by Japan. But in fact, Korea couldn't enjoy any of new food until 1960's- since Korean war turned everything in Korea into a barrenfield. Many Koreans didn't even know the existance of those bread that you talked about till 1960-70's.

  • @bakaanikimachisu food will always be a mix of culture, there are things that are recreated and a tad different but similar in it's own way. of course there's bread that i'll find a Korean shop that's from japan, and i may even find noodles in a Japanese shop that was from Korea, hell i'll even find Chinese noodles in a Vietnamese restaurant, SO CHILL

  • @LuckyxTurtle I am a very calm person. All I did were educating you about the bread history in Japan and Korea b/c you seemed to be ignorant about it. You said 'assumption' to my first comment so I showed you that was not my assumption. Most of those bread shown in this video are probably only found in Japan. The reason? Simple- that it was Japanese who first invented them. I won't talk much about noodles though but 'instant noodles' are also first invented by Japanese- just 4 ur knowledge.

  • my favorite bread is american bread, you know; white bread

  • MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD MELON BREAD!

  • @Smartboy7 DearS much?

  • @Harleybear09 Actually, a little bit of every anime. Including Shakugan no Shana. Especially Shakugan no Shana.

  • @Smartboy7 SWEEEEET! IDK what that is, but sweet! I just read DearS in high school cause a friend of mine showed it to me. Pretty sweet shit. I do like melon bread tho, I had it a Japanese Market caleld Mitsuwa Market in Arlington Heights, IL.

  • what was that bread thing about... ryuhei is a weirdo.

  • Dont know why but i love watching u eat = \

  • CURRY DONUTS?...Sebastian Michalies :| XD

  • I was stunned when I noticed there's no 'pan-ya' (bread shop) in the city of Melbourne and Vancouver, when I was working there about half a year each. They usually keep bread in freezer and when they eat, they put frozen bread in the toaster. The taste is awful.

But one thing I liked in Melbourne is sandwitch shop. You can choose anything. Several breads, butter, cheese, vegitables, meats, you can order and make your original. This is marvelous.

  • damn you're so cute!

  • In Hawaii, I found a bakery called "St. Germains" and I was able to eat curry buns and cheese buns as well as similar sweet breads you showed. It turned out that the shop owner manager was Japanese.

  • "It does not taste like melon. It taste like bread" Quote of the day.

  • miharu: mmmmmm.... school bread (girls bravo reference)

  • damn that looks good

  • Matcha Jelly Roll?

  • I want you to try... Those fried squid. or Miso w/ Tempura :D its very oishii! :DD i love japan.. wish i could go back when im older. I might take japanese in 9th grade :D

  • Best cake for me is the red bean cake.(gosh I love it)

  • so im confused Melon bread doesnt actually taste like melon? why make it look like melon?

  • @nachtatix they don't try to make it look like a melon that's just what it ends up looking like after they cook it, they call it melon bread because it looks like a melon not because it tastes like melon

  • You've got beautiful teeths :O ;D

  • One Thing for sure.. that's a lot of Yeast XD mmm... Toasty! one funny thing.. Pan = bread

    same in Spanish. XD

  • Cheese bread, hands down! :D

  • Wow...the melon pan ....it looks so... tasty ...*drooling*

  • oh God, stop making me hungry!

  • i would object to the statetement that japanese bread is oishii. there is of course great stuff like you've been eating in the video (plus of course the ultimate yakisoba pan which i can't get out of my head now). BUT! i had to quit eating regular shokupan after a month in japan, because all of them tasted as i imagine a dish sponge would taste.

god i would go back to japan and eat everything there is (except for the "normal" bread ;)

  • They all look beautiful! Bet they taste delicious too!

  • ciaela's face @ 2:05 "Its so good" ^.^

  • Does Ryuhei have a Youtube account also?

  • Better than French Bread and i am french xD

  • @arisainwonderland actually,it is very difficult to make. First you have to prepare curry with lots of different ingredients, then make the bread dough, put curry in the bread dough and then deep fry it in hot oil.

  • I've had Kare Pan(aka curry bread). It is freakin' delicious and not too hard to make.

  • I was deeply impressed by the innovative breads shown in this video. They probably exist only in Japan. I want to go to Fukuoka sometime.

  • LOVE the walnut bread! And of course, anpan :)

  • My favorite type of bread is Portuguese Sweet bread, that my mother's friend taught me to make. Mildly sweet, with accents of lemon and anise seed, it is freaking awesome. Although mine seems to come out a little denser than hers does. Must be the altitude (or lack of)!

  • I getting hungry watching this D:

  • @duaragonrune You and me both. It all looks so tasty.

  • Comment removed

  • @tubeless1780 In Spain and Mexico, they eat "Churros" and they are dipped in a hot chocolate or coffee. Also, "Biscotti" are dipped in a coffee. I see people dip bread in yummy soup and eat.

  • Is there a street food culture in Japan? If so, it would be neat if you would do a video on that. Maybe you could try out one of the Western-style tea houses I've heard about, too.

  • hello. try anpan:-)

  • iinaaa! watashi mo tabete mitai naa!!!!

  • curry bread looks delicious.

  • The japanese haven't really understood the purpose of bread

  • @Fyrvelm xD

  • @Fyrvelm Here in Japan our staple food is rice. Bread is considered as a secondary food, or as a part of desert, snack.

Your 'purpose' of bread is very different from our 'purpose' of bread.

  • @bakaanikimachisu it actually does depend on where you go. Yes in North America it is considered a staple but we also use it for desert/snack and have specialty shops just like the one in this video. So yes, different, but many of us still regard bread as a treat.

  • Name of music at start please????????????

  • i'm a simple man. bread and cheese will satisfy me anyday.

  • no best comment? i try!
