  • Hughie was very much under rated (as was Billy Jones). Great band. Will love this music till the day I die.

  • I believe in my heart HT was the purest essence of Southern Rock and his music will live forever in infamy. We soo miss your creative talents my friend. Rest in Peace and let the" Kings and Queens bow and play for YOU".

ONCE AN OUTLAW ALWAYS AN OUTLAW

  • ..........................................

  • I'm seeing The Outlaws on May 22 on Long Island at the Long Island Southern Jam 2010. They're there with Marshall Tucker Band, Molly Hatchet, Blackberry Smoke and Chris Hicks. Website says they're going to have an all band Jam Fest! I can't wait.

  • the only way to end an all-nighter in cyberspace...

the last photo in this wonderful montage says it best...

    Hughie Thomasson

    "The Outlaws"

    godspeed HT

  • my pleasure Stik..you know they're playing at " Long Island southern JAM.? May 22,2010....alot of good bands there..just google it.Take care Thanks again for the Guitar Army Remembrance...Happy Trails.

  • all you ht fans please keep mary thomasson in your thoughts and prayers...

she is in one hell of legal battle and now is the time for all of the fans who hold southern rock close to their hearts to stand up and be counted...

henry paul set once an outlaw always an outlaw free...

  • Thankyou 007, beachie & all ya'll out there who like and appreciate the vid! It means a lot to know there's still so many southern rock lovers out there...especially for the Outlaws....especially for Hughie!!!

    Love you all!

  • Having been to the two day shows at Capecod Coleseum every year they played, having been in front row..numerous times, having seen them 27 times and counting..I cannot express in words alone what Hughie meant to me...nor Billy,..know that these sites do keep the "FLAME" Alive..thanks for this one ...God Bless and Happy Trails

  • henry paul and monte may be original members of the outlaws but hughie kept the band going much of his adult life...it saddens me to see what is now taking place...life goes on and with that there will always be change but how important it is to also respect the past...godspeed HT

ONCE AN OUTLAW ALWAYS AN OUTLAW

  • All I can say is " GREEN GRASS AND HIGH TIDES" forever. RIP Hughie T. in the guitar heaven up in the sky.

  • Took a high school buddy to Winterland @ 75-76.

He thought the show would suck....Outlaws opened for The Marshall Tucker Band...what a fokin night that was....and they all jammed together to close the show....fuck yes!

  • Hugh E...the commander and chief of the FLA guitar army

  • I've met guys who used to follow Hughie like deadheads followed thd dead. To see the magic he'd lay down nightly. Anyone who plays guitar recognizes what HT brought to the game. I caught the Outlaws in 79 and the revamped Skynyrd in 0 something, and Hughie was the best part of both. God rest ye...

  • yea they should release that album. itll be the last 1 thats any good. the new outlaws suck. they need to get rid of henry paul and billy crain. they're a disgrace to hughies legacy. henrys trying to turn the outlaws into a country band. hughie was a master of southern rock!

  • The most overlooked guitarist of all time...they didn't call him "Flame" for nothing. I just wish they would release their last album.....

  • isnt that a man??mckinley?

no, its hughie, and he is the man....

  • Hughie, one of the best, god bless and good will my friend

  • nice coment for great guitarist..

  • God Bless you Hughie. And thanx for all the tunes. See ya soon!

  • Was fortunate to see Hughie live when my big sister took me to a bar in Tampa, then in the early days and hay days of the Outlaws,.. and again in recent years on the "Back with a Bang" Reunion tour. His music touched me and will live forever in my heart and soul.

  • i got to see The Outlaws live in 1979...they whaled...its one of the high points of all the concerts i have ever seen...RIP Hughie

  • Lynyrd Skynyrd was a great band up until the plane accident in"77". The eventually came back but didn't have that same edge as before. When they recruited Ricky Medlock & Hughie Thomasson they re-gained that edge again mostly due to Hughie. He lit a fire under their asses

  • and it shown in their preformances. when Hughie left Skynryd the band lost that edge again. Sure they replaced Hughie but I'm not anyway impressed with his replacement.

  • You can't replace something that's irreplacable. Hughie was the man. He was and still is one of the greatest guitarist to ever walk this earth.

  • mediocre music of were everyone sounds a like. Where every you at Hughie, thank you for sharing your music with the rest of us down here.

  • When you pop in a CD or turn on the radio and hear his music you automatically know who your listen too. His singing and guitar playing was his own and will never get lost in the sea of

  • my biggest wish was to see the OUTLAWS live i never thought i would get that chance untill i heard they were going to play at the HOUSE of BLUES in chicago in may of 2005 the GREATEST thrill of my life finally happened it was a great show especially when my wife and i were right at the very front of the stage the guys even high fived me it was the best concert ive ever been to god bless you Hugie we will all miss you my friend thanks for making my wish come true

  • very great band!!! R.I.P Hughie

  • Ill miss you forever uncle hughie :(

I miss seeing you and being with you.

    R.I.P

    I will always love you.

  • i saw hughie many times over the years...he never ceased to amaze me, truly one of the best!

  • R.I.P. Hughie

  • I was going to go to the the last concert they played with hughie before he died that night.

    R.I.P Hughie

    Hughie 1# in my book

  • I just can't believe that over the years with all the guitat player polls that came out rarely if ever mentioned Hughie. Just goes to show that the people who try to manipulate public opinion of real art fail to do justice to those that make it real. Ask any guitarist with experience to play what The Outlaws played and they will admit that it isn't just rock 'n roll.

  • What a great tribute-they are all almost gone. i feel really old.

  • yep i feel real old myself ..

  • sorry i missed u live, rip hughie. c u on the other side.

  • Great memories! Thanks Lola

    RIP Hughie

  • I miss u my friend :(

  • What ever happened to Danny Jo Brown?

  • Danny Joe is no longer with us either

  • R.I.P. Mr. Sundown

  • Almans,Skynyrd,CDB,MTB,Molly Hachet,Wet Willy, and of course one of the tops "The Outlaws". It is up to us to pass this great stuff on to the kiddies. My son is ten and loves all the bands I mentioned above and at 4 I put a Fender Strat Junior in his hands and the two of us have been jammin to all the good ol Southern Rock!!!!!!!!! Thanks Hughie, I'll have a beer in your name buddy.

  • Amen, but dont forget Blackfoot,

  • Thanks Hughie for the greatest guitar riffs. They just don't write em like this. I'm so proud to have grown up in an era when the greatest southern rock and greatest guitar solos were writen. Thank you

  • skynyrd the outlaws MTB molly hachat blackfoot the allman Bros. they all deserve a good place in rock and and roll heaven i hope one day the outlaws get inducted into the rock and roll HOF R.I.P freebirds

  • I dearly miss you my dear friend.

  • 9/9 One Year Brother..Today..

  • I wanna thank all ya'll for watching the vid. It was my first one I ever made on here and I'm so glad everyone likes it.

I love and always will Southern Rock music and these guys were especially close to my heart...lotsa memories growing up, hearing the tunes on the radio on a saturday nite cruising and so much more! Then to see Hughie playing with Skynyrd later on in life and to get to see him straight up and close in the first row...shivers man...always remember & never forget! Keep it alive!

  • HUghie will miss you and the long hair the band use to have. Let the 70's rock on

  • How did Hughie die?

  • He died of a heart attack

  • there was nobody better and there never will be

  • i still cant believe hes gone, he seemed fine

  • Hughie and Billy Jones playin together again R I P

  • Yeah , God must be a real Southern Rock fan...

  • hughie , allen collins steve gaines , duane allman , leon wilkinson a lot of great southern rockers have died too soon , makes me wonder if God wasnt from the south and wanted a kick ass band up there with him.

  • Danny Jo Brown, George Mckorkle, Toy and Tommy Caldwell, Duane Roland, Jacson spires, if God has got a southern rock outfit goin, its the greatest ever in history

  • Right before the new outlaws record was gonna be released. Thats a cryin' shame. RIP Hughie

  • Taken from us far too soon. RIP Hughie!! Long live the Outlaws & long live southern rock!!!

  • Very nice tribute to Mr. Thomasson, I had the

great honor of opening a show for Hughie and the Outlaws many years ago in Buffalo.

  • Hughie is one of those real artists who has to be taken away for others to stop and think. He was really great and made his fans love him. It was him that made the Outlaws what they were.

  • sean mcdowell of WDVE did a fitting tribute to Hughie last night and it was really cool..it made me dig out all of my pictures of myself and H.T. what agreat pleasure or bonus that i was friends with hughie..we will all see him again..

  • god bless you hughie...we miss you already brother.

  • I've been crying since last night when I was doing a search on my favorite band on the internet. Not since the death of Stevie Ray Vaughn, and my Father, has news affected me so much.

The thing that sucks is that I didn't hear anything about his passing on my local so called "classic rock" stations. I first saw them at the Bayfront Center in St. Petersburg. I am devistated. Rich

  • we lost a great man here...long live the outlaws...

  • Great Pics! THANKS for sharing! My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I feel Blessed to have seen the OUTLAWS 3 times. I will always treasure the pics I have of Hughie and Henry Paul.

  • great job on this, pictures are great while listening to GGHT.( awesome for your first time doing this stickbasher) We will all greatly miss Hughie,he was deffinitly one of a kind.

You are so right JLDB. I'm 45 and only saw them 6 times, but feel the same! Hughie and Billie together were awesome, that video is great!

  • If you want to see what an incredible guitarist Hughie was, check out (part 2, especially) of GGAHT from 1977 posted on Youtube. Some of the best lead, with him and Billy, of any rock band ever.

  • Wow. Both Billy and Hughie gone. I'm 46 and loved the Outlaws from 1977 on. Saw them at least 10 times. This hurts. God bless and thanks for everything, Hughie and Billy. Gone but never forgotten.

    And thanks, stickbasher.

  • Wonderful Tribute! 5*

  • Hughie was the man

  • Thank You Hughie, R.I.P Bro.

  • Great job, by the way, at 6:12 of the video, the picture of Hughie smiling at the girl standing, that picture was taken by me at The BB King's show Oct 2006. Obviously you got that picture from Outlaw website where I posted it. No problem, was a nice surprise to see it here!

    "Hitman"

  • A couple pics I already had, but most of the good ones including the one you are speaking of came from a yahoo groups thing. I didn't take any from the Outlaw website, but if the pic is yours and you would like me to take it off here I will. If I took a pic and found it somewhere else I would be pissed! Just let me know.

  • God Bless you Hughie. Your music has touched many and will live forever. RIP Brother.

  • Thanks for sharing.

  • You're welcome! Thank you for watching and commenting!

  • Awesome Stikbasher, and thank you for making this moving tribute. You took and/or assembled an impressive collection of photos of Hughie. I'm glad that the collection included some of his time spent in Lynyrd Skynyrd, an important slice of his career. The photos of Hughie with the little child and with Charlie Daniels are priceless - also the one of Medlocke partially playing Hughie's guitar for him. An immense hole has been ripped into the world of Southern Rock, and I'm so sad for it :-(

  • Thank you for your awesome comments and sweet words! This was actually my first try doing this, never made a vid before.

I'm glad you like it and it's great to hear from another southern rock fan!!!!!!!!!

    ~stik~

  • Something's wrong with this video,

it won't load. Can you mail it to

    MOLLYDJBHATCHET2 @ AOL . com

  • Sorry, I can't. I had it on my hard drive for a little while and deleted it since it was on here! It was over 60 mb. Maybe to some folks thats not a large file to have on your pc, but it was for me.

  • AWESOME.....very well done!!!

  • Thank you!
