is it me or did those guys just loose interest in this game? its nastalgic certainly and nice cabinet design but its just not the same without the name and the fact that its lower than expected graphics. sega should've made daytona 3 with the name secured when they got the chance
@kieranmay When I played it I lost interest as well. I never was that big on Daytona and between the game showing it's age (despite the widescreen resolution) and there being a million other racers on the arcade market it doesn't stand out. At least the cabinet design is nice and that is being recycled for GRID. Otherwise I personally think that Sega Racing Classic was a total waste of time for Sega, arcade operators and players.
@theatarian I love daytona though but this still looks disappointing due to not being a proper sequal. Do you have any idea how the game has performed in sales adam?
All it is is just a remake of daytona USA with HD graphics and without the license. nothing really special altogether. Daytona USA 2 will always be a true racing classic.
Sega doesn't have the Daytona license anymore and therefore couldn't include the "DAYTONAAAA" music... which in my opinion is a huge disappointment. It was too loud to hear if the other music was changed/updated. Graphically, it's almost identical to the original, except through an HD screen. The cabinets are beautiful and are probably the best part about this re-release.
Overall though, I'd take the original Daytona USA over this any day.
@starrisk - At least they bumped up the resolution on that thing.
But it would have been nice to update the graphics, too - if it's on Ringwide hardware and the title screen is brand new...oh wait, it's BECAUSE they lost the source code that they can't exactly make the game from the ground up again with HD graphics...
@FieraDevilWings BECAUSE they lost the source code they made exactly the same game with a few minor graphics issues. It is too similar - the loss of the source code is a cover up.
I got this on XBLA today! Luckily they put the Daytona name back on it!

see whenever the handling is good, the force feedback ruins it by making swerve to the left and right!

that's why it's called Sega Racing CLASSIC, it's not a remake, they just updated it with widescreen and that's all.

I was at IAAPA and played on that very cabinet.
