Makes me cry inside myself just remembering the things this band meant to me, and as all those memories will never fade in my soul because as i look around me these days as music is essentially meaningless, I feel a great deal of sympathy towards young people today as music is an education in life itself and its something that has been put deliberately out of their reach. You know what i'm saying here people. Being young today...? No thanks. As pining my hopes on todays music is pointless...G...
@TheGmcFilms I agree....but at the same time, our parents would have said the same thing about the music we love compared to what they grew up with :-)
This band together with others of the era as Sugarcubes, Soup Dragons, Dramarama, Primal Scream remind me of the TBS Channel show Night Tracks 1991 when he became only alternative music
This song was on some promotional compilation tape I had way back in '92. It also had "She's Mad" by David Byrne, a Sugarcubes song, and a cool song by Sarah McLaughlin before she blew up called "Into The Fire." I wore that tape out. Ahh, the college years.
the best guitar band of all time, you will never hear guitars played this well, the bass is so funky it hurts, the lead guitar solos are orgasmic, the rhythem is great, vocals melody & harmonies are out of this world, and yes they have three vocalists.
yay 9th grade and the terrific friends that i am lucky to still have in my life:-) just got my my ticket to belle & sebastian/teenage fanclub at the williamsburg waterfront for september 30th!!! sooooooooo excited!!!!!!!
magnificos....una potente energia desplegada con mucho brio en la guitarras..y la voz oh Dios ..la voz tan dulce y tan armoniosa..vaya celebridades extraordinarias del power pop ....
Teenage Fanclub: the greatest guitar pop group of all time??? Gimme Jesus and Mary Chain, Primal Scream and TFC in one night: WOW what a nice big pill Pop Rock Ecstasy!!
First got into the Fannies in the Summer of 1990, after hearing Everything Flows. Think Creation were responsible for 2 of the best albums of the early 90's in Bandwagonesque & Screamadelica.
This version has a lot chopped off from the end ( i think 2-3 minutes more). Although this is the core song there is some further variations on the 'oh yeah'.
I can never seem to explain to people why "The Concept" is such a killer tune. Which either means I'm insane, or nobody else understands fantastic music. I vote for Choice 2. :)
Yeah on the surface it seems so simple, almost like a parody of pop music lyrics. But listen to it a couple of times and you start singing along emphatically
@JasonTryp Its always nice to see a comment from someone who makes a bunch of sense. I really dig what you wrote hear my friend and I agree with you 100%. I was part time deejaying at Stonehill College in Massachusetts and I used to open my shows with this song all the time. Vampire Weekend and Silversun Pickups have impressed me somewhat lately but I still miss the 70's, 80's and 90's. Thanks for your comment JasonTryp,
Why 'fuck Nirvana', I like both. They both played in Reading 1992 festival, watch the live videos both are awesome... Nirvana's performance is uNdeniable freaking awesome.
i know. its just more powerful live. and why do mtv have to cut the original songs? its so stupid when you can see and hear that the song continues but it just fades away

Where has music gone?
TransistorRevolt1999 10 months ago 8
Why is it that 'the Britts' alway make the best U.S. flavoured music?
It goes all the way down to the other end of the spectrum eg. The Cult.
TFC... more of this stuff is desperately needed in todays dank musical environment.
Three amazing singers (since Brendan left) and songwriters.
