GUI stands for graphical user interface.. something apple stole from xerox, and then microsoft stole from apple. and eventually linux adopted it. kde gnome and fluxbox are desktop style (best way i can explain it

Can't say that till you've used them both. Linux is much more customizable, perfect for any power user. Vista is for people who take it anyway they can, and don't make it their own. Both o/s's have their issues. Get a 8gig usb flash drive, and load your Linux on that, and boot off of it and try it.
