Hey, it wasn't an LDS statician who said it was probably Joseph Smith. It was a Community of Christ scholar. They aren't Mormon. They're a splinter group that separated from the Mormon church 150 years go. They own the painting. Of course, they're going to say it was him. The Mormon church (the one in Utah) has had no comment, but I think most of them think it isn't Joseph Smith, although I think they don't really care.
