  • very very very cool....thanks...

  • Love the sound of your drums. Fat and juicy without a lot of overtones. Nice!

  • very good sounds!

  • I'm in a drumline, so I don't really play the drumset much, but when I do, I play it like this. :P I don't even play beats, I just play marching drum rudiments like flams, diddles, paradiddles, and even more complex ones and turn it into a really fast drum jam. :3

  • play in 6/8 its cool ..

  • Very good man, you realy do good things using paradiddles.

  • eres un artista hermano!!!

  • nice warm up dude

  • tous ce qu'on peut faire avec 1exercice bien executé .

  • absolutely loved it!

  • That's great to hear, thank you :-)

  • Awesome.

  • Nice! What are the sizes of your toms?

  • Thanks :-) The toms are 10", 12" and 14"

  • your floor toms sound ace!

  • Thanks, that's nice to hear :-)

  • @Jungleritter

that deep ambiance that they fade in with when first struck is what makes them sound so awesome especially for this video. great hits.

  • Makes me think of Witchcraft by Krust and Roni Size.

  • Awesome bro! Gunna go try play like you right now ;D

  • Dude, awesome!

I'm just starting to practice paradidles, so this is great!

  • Great! Have fun :-)

  • Throw some Falm paradiddles maybe?

  • You mean flams? Sure, that's gonna sound great, go for it :-)

  • @Jungleritter Flam the first note of every paradiddle. It sounds pretty cool and it allows for some accenting/underlying rhythmic pattern .

  • Flamming the 3rd note sounds a feels great too.

  • @Jungleritter Great Job, you do a great job in this paradiddles demo. Thank you.

  • @BurningGundam85 Sorry, but what means flam? Thank you.

  • @AlterBridgefanc look it up; it's hard to explain in words

  • @AlterBridgefanc It's when you have two notes. One is quiet, and one is loud. The loud note comes down on the beat. The quiet note come right before the loud note. It's easiest to just look up a video of them! Hope this helps!

  • Nice drum sound ! ;) . can you show us how to tune snare n others please ?

  • Thanx :-) I don't really have a cool method to show how to tune drums. I just go by hear and I'm lucky enough to own some really good eqipment, which really helps with tuning and getting a good sound quick. Check out some of Bob Gatzen's videos, he's great at that!

    Cheers

    Ydna

  • @Jungleritter : Bob Gatzen's ? woa ! He's freaking awesome man . i've already watch his video dude . And yeah ! he is damn good ! grr ~ . i wish he can tune my kit ! Haha :D

  • ydna, you are very very kool.

  • Damnit... I can't believe how simple this is in terms of like I always thought when drummers did a similar solo to this it was like crazy independance with their left hand, but alot of the time they're just doin paraddidles daaang... definately gonna use this in my aresonal of drumming (haha I said in my arse...onal lol)

  • Kit sounds AMAZING

  • Whats your sabian crash on your right?

  • That's a 17" Medium Thin AA

  • I like to blend Paradiddles, Inverted Paradiddles and Double Paradiddles randomly at my top speed. That makes for a killer solo.

  • Oh yeah, I bet it does :-)

  • nice!! I've got pearl exports. pearl makes a good kit!!!

  • what type of kit you got there?

  • It's a Pearl Master Custom Maple

  • I've been playing paradiddles for years and this video has given me new ideas. Thx

  • Great to hear :-)

  • Hey that's really cool. You've got an awesome drum sound also!

  • Good stuff, thanks for taking the time!

  • Thanks, you're very welcome :-)

  • Is this just a straight RLRR LRLL the whole way through? 'Cause I'd really like to know where you place the hi hat and accents between 1:37 and 1:40

  • Yes, it is just RLRR LRLL. I think at around 1:37 the second and the fifth stroke is played on the hi-hat. The right hand is playing on the floor tom.

    Cheers

    Ydna

  • delicious indeed.

  • 0:51 you change sticking just for a second to this 2nd paradiddle right?: DIID IDDI

  • I just checked, I didn't switch to the inverted paradiddle, at least not around that time, maybe somewhere else in the video but I don't think so. Although it's totally ok of course to mix them, that's would you would do in a band setting anyways...

    Cheers

    Ydna

  • Absolutely delicious !

  • Hey 'Ydsie' Hands down you are one the best drum instructors IMO to grace the internet. Well freaking done dude.

  • That's flattering :-)) Thanks!

  • Nice work Dude , very cool! Tasty!

  • Thank you, glad you liked it :-))

  • Inspirational

  • What is that thing to the far left of you?

  • That's my modified/custom made Sonor Trash Snare. A video on my channel features this snare drum, check it out.

    Cheers

    Ydna

  • You show me a great exercise. Very helpful. Regards from Holland!

  • That´s great to hear! Greetz from Canada :-))

  • /watch?v=W-2Ut3heVKU can you learn this?

  • You want me to learn this? Well, that´s gonna take a while, it´s a heavy groove/exercise :-)) I will try it just for fun

    Cheers

    Ydna

  • @Jungleritter Yay!

  • @Jungleritter Hey my drum tutor taught me 5 paradiddle rudiments the normal 3 which is paradiddle, double paradiddle and triple paradiddle then a double paradiddle with the first 2 notes played as accents then a triple paradiddle with the first 3 notes accented

  • Yeah, that's great. you can use all of them with the same approach. Have fun!

  • Really, really good, man.

I didn´t know that this is what they mean when they say "apply the paradiddle on the drumset". You´ve just opened my eyes.

    Brilliant.

  • That´s great to hear, have fun :-)

    Cheers Ydna Murd

  • This is cool man, thanks

  • oh that's neat man! i can never find a good application of paradiddles around the kit!

  • What drumheads do you use in this video?

  • These are REMO Powerstroke 3`s

  • Hey do you ever break the paradiddle in this demonstration? Is it rlrrlrll the entire time pretty much, except for the double bass?

  • I´m pretty sure I stayed with the RLRR LRLL sticking. There´s of course nothing wrong with throwing in some variations, I mean, it´s just an exercise, so you wanna have fun practicing it, right? :-)

  • Now I was watching this and thought to myself, if you can do that...why not try and do paradiddles with your feet too? haha. Have a cowbell for your foot or something and do paradiddles between bass and that while doing paradiddles with your hands. That would be something to see, as if this wasn't already.

  • You're good dude.I've been playing drums for about 36 yrs and never had lessons at all.I do not do paradiddles or any technques at all.I guess I probably incoorporate some of these things into my playing, everybody probably does, but I am not aware of them, nor do I know when I am doing them.I 've played in quite a few bands in the past and now play in church only.I think guys like you that can do these techniques are more advanced in your playing than me,but yet,I can play a mean set of drums too.

  • Thanks mate :-)) Yeah, you´re right. You don´t really need to know what a certain rhythm is called when you play it. But there´s also no harm in knowing I guess. You´re playing for 36 years and you´re still looking up videos for inspiration, that´s pretty cool I think. I myself go through life with my eyes and ears wide open :-))

    Cheers

    Ydna

  • @Jungleritter true.it never hurts to know these things.but I would guess,I'm kinda giving away my age when I mentioned that I've been playing for 36 yrs.I'm 51.So this "old dog" can't learn any new 'tricks",but I do see new things that I have incorporated into my drumming.Matter of fact,I noticed on a video clip of Peter Criss on the reunion tour with KISS,that he was very laid back in his playing now.as we get older,I guess we relax a little more when playing,I know I have.

  • hello one moore time Andy. I've been learning paradiddle about seven mounths, with lessons of my teacher, I know that demands alot of precision; sincopation & focus! you're realy good. it's a pleasure see you "groove-in"

  • Thanks! I appreciate it :-))

  • Is that a Remo Soundshape over on your left? If it is could you give us a video demo of it's sound? I'm interested in buying one.

  • It´s not a Remo Soundshape, it´s my Sonor Jungle Trash Snare, please check out my video where I explain and demonstrate this snare. Just type in "Sonor Jungle Trash Snare"

  • hey man very altruistic from you, thanks for posting such high quality lesson and video, i will surely check out the other, nice drumkit and studio btw

    Mike

  • Hey Mike, thanks for the kind words!! :-)) It´s a lot of fun making these videos and I don´t mind sharing my ideas. It´s very rewarding to get so much response...

    Cheers

    Ydna

  • Thank you s much for opening to my eyes and the incorporation of rudiments into the kit that much more.

  • You´re very welcome, thanx for watching :-))

  • I have so much to learn.. Now i got back listening to deantoni parks

  • Brilliant. Thank you !

  • Excellent drumming and excellent kit! Good job man!

  • mal ne frage was benutzt du als standart hi-hat?? ich find die klingt echt voll geil

    lg und respeckt :)

  • Hey, vielen Dank! Meine Haupt Hi-Hat ist eine 13" Zildijan K...Wirklich eine klasse Hi-Hat.

  • very nice... you have me working on mine as we speak.... what kind of drum heads are on your toms? i love that sound

  • Thanks! I currently use Remo´s Powerstroke 3 heads on my toms...

  • Its so cleean so perfect so good maan u r greaaaaaaaaatt

i say hi from mexico (:

n thanks for all ur videos they help alote o= !!!!

  • Blimey i may as well sell the drum kit :-(

  • Nice solo! i have a couple questions. First, out of curiosity, how fast can you get your paradiddles? I'm working at around 200 16ths, those are rough :D Also, have you ever tried playing paradiddles with your feet? I find that a great independence exercise. I'm also working on virgil donati's paradiddle groove, that one's impossible; double paradiddles with the left side, and singe paradiddles with the right :P

  • Yeah, I´ve practiced all of what you mentioned, although I´m really not proud of my left foot doubles :-) I actually don´t know how fast I can play the paradiddle, I don´t practice much anymore, I reached that age where you start spending more time with the music... :-)

  • Ha, I know what you mean man. I'm getting there myself, actually. I have enough speed for 95% of musical situations, from here on out its getting the dynamics and feel as solid as possible. I do want that last bit of speed so I can at least be able to play all of extreme metal if i felt like it, haha.

  • very very good

your an amazing drummer and instructor

    keep it up man.

  • nice placement. i primarily use parradiddles with fills and solos so this gives me a lotta fresh ideas. thanx for posting.

  • this was great. this is exactly how i play when i sit down. it was easy for me to look at this, take it in, and rip it to pieces.

a couple cool things in there you did i'll have to incorporate.

  • Great stuff, I've never tryied to use the paradiddles for fills like on intesion. Sure, I use them, but its not like i go "no I'll use that Paradiddle" ;)

  • ydna, youre my hero

  • really nice broo!!!
