I've got a 9 year old Lab/Shep cross that I adopted 5 years ago. I'm lucky that I can give him 2-3 off-leash runs a day which I believe benefits him more than being walked on leash. I appreciate that many folks don't have places to take dogs off-leash which is too bad as it would probably be more beneficial, just my opinion. At 9 years Homer can still leap across wide ditches and clamber up steep embankments without problems.

My message to the people who exercise their dogs from car windows: Get off your fat asses and walk WITH your dogs you fat fucks.

I ride my bike with my dog alongside it. She is super-fit because of this exercise. She runs along side it for about an hour or two a day. Sometimes even 3 or 4 hours. I would recommend this exercise rather than just walking your dog.

This exercise builds lots of muscle. Your dog will become a powerhouse lol
