  • TO FUFFY AND PINK! ACK!

  • my school is doing this for our musical and i'm carlotta!!! it's so much work but it's a lot of fun! :)

  • @BlondieSingsTheBlues my school did it last year it's awesome

  • Raul u retard tryin to fit into the song, ugh i hate his guts GO PHANTOM!!!!!!

  • Raoul is just standing there like a brick trying to remember how to breathe!

  • This is one of the funniest parts in the film...who doesn't know someone like this? ;)

  • christine and raoul love eachother...that doesnt mean they sleep together and shes trying to get something from him lol

  • Actually don't like Carlotta, but I love this song. I think its the big tension rising until the ending

Where everyone is singing, and the music shows in the ending it goes up and down, and giving hints the show is gonna end in catastrophe

  • Comment removed

  • 2:24 flying dress!!

  • They couldn't have found someone better to play Carlotta than Minnie Driver! LOVE her the best in the show

  • Shoe wine!!! lol :)

  • I laughed at the description for this :)

  • Am I the only one who noticed she has two entirely different dogs in 1:15 and 1:55?

  • @AutumnSunshine11 she was given one as a gift and already had the other.

  • @AutumnSunshine11 She has two dogs, a white one and black one. Originally she just had the white one, but then they bribed her by giving her another dog.

  • What did she say at 0:08?

  • @icq111 "Would you not rather have your precious little ingenue?" Carlotta is referring to Christine.

  • @TheSpeedArtist Many thanks :)

  • This is the most beautiful music in the whole musical. Although the lyrics are not very pretty, the actual instrumentals are. When you hear this playing at the Las Vegas water fountains out front of the Bellagio, it's just breathtaking.

  • best song in the film/musical

  • As annoying as her character may be...I do like her voice. So pretty!

  • My favorite part is the huge breath right before the final gigantic notes. It really reminds you that they're singing VERY difficult music. It's funny. Also, I love this song.

  • The woman who sang the part of Carlotta in the fim played the actual part in one of the stage productions .Minnie Driver acted the part in the film .

  • like everyone loves this movie but you gotta admit carlotta is a bitch

  • 3:00 man that dude has quite a honker

  • i really dont care for this song as much as all the others

  • 3:14 is that actually part of the script?

  • @Taxrenn93 yes Carlotta is a better opera singer, but the part of Christine requires Emmy Rossum's voice rather than a voice like this :) and plus the quality of the acting and the actors style has a lot to do with the casting as well. You do raise a good point though :D

  • ok... i heard that the picture theyre holding is a painting of carlotta with alw's head on a plate... i already knew about the head but i didnt know it was ALW'S!

  • I always giggled when I saw all her fans where elderly men. x3

  • @MultiBelle22 me too!

  • This is my fave song in the whole show! It's so catchy - I'd love to sing it but I don't have the voice for it!

  • I hope Firmin uses mouthwash

  • Carlotta is so super irritatingly weird!

  • How can I hate Carlotta when she has such a beautiful voice?

  • i really like the change in dynamics from 2:56 to 3:09. I love this movie too., i've watched it many times already ^^,

  • Just a few questions:

    1. How can she even sing with that corset on???

And 2. How can she even hold up her bloody head with that wig on????? o.O

  • AMAZING SONGS IN THIS MOVIE. AND DEFINITELY, BEAUTIFUL AMAZING ACTORS AND ACTRESSES!

  • i especially enjoy the part from 2:32 - 2:45. i love the "build-ups" before the refrain in songs, so this part and then the impact of the last refrain. wonderful

  • 0:02 STOP!! xD funny as hell!

  • I really like this movie, but they ended up getting a better singer for carlotta then Christine! yes Christine has a nice voice, but not for opera, her voice would not have been heard past the second row, while carlotta's singing voice is done by a professional opera singer.

  • @Taxrenn93 Broadway is MUCH better.

  • @Taxrenn93 You have good point but that's exactly what they meant to do, Carlotta was supposed to be the fully trained opera queen, while Christine was a chorus girl, a background singer with a soft voice not a singer with a loud fulfilling voice(:

(this is in my opinion of course)

  • @Taxrenn93 Well, I think Christine's voice is more pleasant sounding, which I think is what they were going for, to appeal to a broader audience. A lot of people don't like the 'opera' sounding voice, as far as I know...I mean, I know I don't....

  • @Taxrenn93 Minnie's Driver's voice was the only one that was dubbed. Christine's voice is actually her's. They picked Minnie for the acting.

  • @97AngelofMusic They said Carlotta's singing voice is better suited for opera, which I think they just meant as a general statement. Even if it is dubbed, the voice itself is still better suited for opera than Christine's is.

  • @Taxrenn93 umm, Emmy Rossum trained to be an opera singer

  • @Taxrenn93 ya but if u look at the special features minnie driver (carlotta) had no opera experience where as emmy rossum ( christine) had been singing opera since she was 7

  • Dud !

  • the whole song is amazing, but 2:17 is just sublime

  • Me at work!

  • A complete demolition of one of the great scenes in the stage show. It may look pretty, but the scene falls terribly flat - mainly due to lackluster direction and poor vocals from the managers.

  • I can't believe Firmin is Captain Wentworth!!

  • notice the transition from black poodle to white poodle,

    it's key.

  • 28 people are Primadonnas :|

  • How come this video hasn't reached 1 million views yet while all Gerard Butler's and Emmy's vidoes have over 1 million?

  • @AdvertChild98

ha, you answered your own question. The Phantom and Christine are the stars of the show after all. They have the best parts in the entire play!

But I do agree that this scene is worthy of a million views, it's just brilliant and much needed comic relief for such a tragic story.

  • @Ihkueren No. I haven't answered my own question.

  • @Ihkueren

I agree with you. Shakespeare's tragedies always had one or two amusing scenes too. BTW, I think that Carlotta is not that bad since her head turns to the black poodle puppy instead of the jewelsXD

  • thumbs up if you hate people who write comments to get a thumbs up

  • I've heard that Minnie Driver isn't really singing Carlotta's part. Who is the singer?

  • @KiwiGirl941 Margaret Preece - who also plays Carlotta's attendant/ confidante in this film - the one who tells her how everyone loves Christine on opening night and causes Carlotta to faint in the carriage x

  • What? Screw the dog, GRAB THE DIAMONDS!!!!!! Quickly, before they realize they can just kill you and the phantom is happy and their Opera does better because Christine is WAY better than Carlotta.

  • Holy chiz, how do you not fall over when your hair is that tall?! LOL! And poor Firmin, shoe wine, not so much...

  • Carlotta's voice is agressive.

  • mrs prima donna this is youe reminder you fine but im finer

  • "sing prima donna-" (GASP) "ONCE MORE!" LOL

  • mike sulley

    woody jessie bo peep breezie

  • I'm sure the whole effing fandom will hate me for this, but I ALWAYS liked Carlotta more than Christine. She's a total beatch, but at least she has humor and an iron set of balls. Chrissy, on the other hand, does NOTHING but stand around and look sweet/pretty. Plus Minnie Driver got to bang Diego Luna in a movie, and nothing can outhot that.

  • @sXpXlX The Phantom never had anything against Carlotta, other than the fact that she was more famous than Christine. As a person they were best kind.

  • What I don't get is why they still want carlotta when Christine was a huge success and they have been getting notes from the phantom saying if they put her in the lead role that a disaster would happen. :/

  • one of the lyrics is ''to replace a chrous girl whos gone and slept with the patron.'' really?! why are they even lyrics?

  • Prima Donna, enchant us once again ♫

  • @2:37

she just looks like a ball of pink and white fluff

  • PRIIIIIIIIIMAAAAA DONNAAAAAAAAA, thee world wantssssss youuu

  • In the beginning, Carlotte said "Wouldn't you rather prruurprorurop."

  • champagne of a shoe? serious

  • WTF would you drink champagne out of a shoe? O.o

  • @tsphilly98 it used to be a good luck thing they would do before a show

  • @dancingbird247 I see... I wish I lived in Paris in 1870 ^^ lol

  • Ah I love that pompous wench....

  • shes such a diva.

  • love the movie =]

  • i find her voice quite annoying

  • I like listening to this because it makes me think my voice gets higher every time I listen to it. It's only helping when I sing along. I think... Probably not...

  • Carlotta is EXTREMELY attractive, IMO. And lol, a person i know, her username is prima donna. (not on youtube)

  • @sXpXlX Erik never had anything against Carlotta, it's just that Carlotta was standing between Christine and the title of prima donna

  • thumbs up if ur a prima donna!

  • when i first heard this i thought it was pre madonna

  • @QuickQuwQuw The term is "Prima Dona" which translates from Italian to "First Lady", what the hell did you think it meant, dumbass? how old are you?

  • @QuickQuwQuw lol... Kool thinking. xD

  • I love how they say senora no

  • how high is the hair lol

  • Oh Raoul you handsome beast.

On that note, I personally don't like Carlotta's voice, even though I do agree that it's more trained. I've never been one for liking lots of vibratto... Why I love this musical that's all opera I don't know, since vibratto is essential in opera.

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE! Carlotta so funny

  • jeremy jan burn in h for stealing my music. you know how you got it. this was mine

  • I admit, Carlotta's voice does have a more "impressive" range, but it seems "empty" when compared to Christine's.

  • @5Corundum5

That's kind of the point, actually. Carlotta's been classically trained, and while her voice is certainly impressive and more "polished" than Christine's, it's all technique, no substance. Christine, meanwhile, has been trained by some guy who hangs out behind her mirror, and has had MUCH less experience than Carlotta. Even so, she sings from her heart.

  • Why did Firmin eat Carlotta's shoe? Every time i see this I wonder that...

  • @OwlCityFan26 He didn't; if you watch a few seconds before, wine is poured into it. He's drinking the wine from the shoe, probably to show respect or something.

  • @GameToffee Yeah it is a respect thing... like humility not sure but it sure is funny!

  • I loved it when theryre ending the song, how the scene shifters r walking by

  • Carlotta was my favorite character is this show. She's simply the best. She is unique, so beatiful and has a voice of an angel and the same time, she's a bitch. I just love her!

  • @sXpXlX LOL XD

  • Doesn't anyone find it kinda creepy that the guy drinks champaigne out of Carlotta's shoe at 1:49?

  • @SimonConewall i think its supposed to mean somthing. my music teacher said somthing about everlasting affection or somthing similar to that. i can't remeber. don't hate me if im wrong XD

  • i hate this character D:

  • Carlotta is such a funny character XD

I find her singing very nice, but it can sometimes blow away my ears...

I wish I could get to the very high tones like her, though.

  • This movie fills my heart with rage, happiness, and it makes me cry every time and so you should shut up.

  • why is everyone in this movie acting like such a faggot

  • @rockman22 wow.....a talking rock....

  • @rockman22 wait so you're saying that gerard butler is acting gay?

  • @rockman22 why do you say they're actin like fags?

  • @rockman22 ....They're in FRANCE.

  • I'm in a show and I hav to sing this ...wish me luck

  • Carlotta's my fav. character :D :D :D

  • Carlotta looks sooo pretty in pink...but the role's really not meant for her

  • This really wasn't the video I was looking for....... I got a great laugh though.

  • Carlotta is a rly spoiled brat!! Those mangers give her so much to keep her and get so little outta her. Think about it this way "Pay more to get less." Ha, then at 2:00 the manger look like "Hey, maybe the Phantom's request is so bad after all." Lolz.

  • Crazy spoiled bitch.

  • In case anyone is confused, this is not Minnie Driver singing. She can sing, but not in a way that would fit for the character.

  • All I can say is that this film was magnificently casted. Superb acting and singing :)

  • Hang on...Was he about to eat that shoe at 1:50?

  • @Deathawaitsnoone Actually he is about to drink champagne out of it. If you look closely, you'll notice Andre pours it into the shoe some time before. To drink champagne from a beautiful lady's shoe was a fashion that is thought to have started among bohemian aristocrats of the french society and it later became a quite widespread and frequent occurrence. There are many historical records of this happening which is probably why they decided to include it in the movie. That'd be funny though XD

  • I thought it was Pre-Madona

  • Seriamente. Questo è il film più meraviglioso che abbia mai visto in vita mia. Dubito che verrà superato da qualche altro film, anche perchè rispecchia esattamente la mia vita comunque.

  • ok, is that really minnie driver singing? because it sort of sounds like her, but i don't know...

  • @MsDarkrosebud No but she did sing in order to keep it organic. She's a good singer but not many people have that range. It's nice to see a Carlotta who isnt twelve years Christine's senior

  • Dang! That's some big ol' hair!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i want that wig XD

  • What a great team Simon Callow and Ciaran Hinds make as Andre and Firman - they are defintly my faves in this! Hope they get to work together again in some toher film - that'd be wicked!!!

  • i like the lady with the tellytubby hair and the guy with the red streak lmao.

  • minnie driver did not sing the carlotta part because it was too hard, but she did sing the bonus track on the cd learn to be lonely

  • The orginal broadway version is a little bit diffrent. Some parts are completly missing from the movie.

  • This is magical

  • I actually find her voice pretty... but thats because its really fun to listen to. Emmy Rosson's voice is 50x better though.

  • i love how they bribe her with poodles lol

  • I LOVED Carlotta in the movie... But I do have to say that this falls short of the play....

  • she said "wouldn't you rather have your precious little ingenue?"

  • The end note is beautiful. :)

  • i don't know what the diva said at the beginning...what did she say? she said like "wouldn't you rather...."something

  • @angelsunny8 She said "Wouldn't you rather have your little angelio?"

  • @yyhlover "ingenue"

  • I really like her voice, even though she's not really the one singing...I have respect for her because hitting those high notes are difficult(for me anyway) and she has a very pretty voice even if it "wasnt right' for her part I guess?

  • Minnie Driver is awesome. :)

  • She likes poodles? Okay, I think I like Carlotta now XD

  • It must be hard to sing opera with a corset on. I really do like Carlotta's voice as well...

  • I think it's so annoying they cast Minnie Driver in this movie. I think she is a brilliant actress, but part of being in a musical is actually singing. I mean what a waste! Playing a role which calls for a coloratura soprano bel canto type singing and then cast someone who can't do it. Way to half ass a performance...

  • @JWeb4U They employed the origianl musical carlotta for carlotta.. it isn't minnie driver's voice. it's real carlotta voice..

  • @BatmansFavoriteGirl Exactly the point I was making! I was saying it isn't even her voice, so Minnie Driver didn't even have to sing at all which defeats the purpose of being in a musical.

  • @JWeb4U But her acting and voice really matches the singing voice! SO that makes up for it! :)

  • @JWeb4U Minnie Driver is one of the world's best actors EVER!!!! That's why she get in! She is the women's answer on Johnny Deep!

  • Hey im just saying, Does anyone know tht Minnie driver (Carlotta) Isnt singing her parts. Its another woman. Minnie Sings at the end of the movie (Learn to be lonley) Thought i would just share tht....Love phantom though. :0)

  • OMG Minnie Driver is AMAZING <3

  • it's not carlottas voice but her attitude for which i would kick her out...if i were the opera ghost.

  • ME encanta como Carlotta canta en el minuto 1:30 con un acento muy francés

  • I love how they portray this part apart from the plays.

And I always lol at 3:14

  • LOL I love how they all take one collective breathe at the end!! And some people find carlotta voice is bad, but actually the person singing it is very talented to sing lik that, i actually kinda like it really.

  • i just realized that christine was in the backround and at 1:13 the dog is a stuffed animal! the white one is real tho

  • you know what...raoul needs to mind his beezwax, SERIOUSLY. he needs to stop worrying about christine love life, so what if she loves the phantom and not you? MY GOSH, theres other fish in the sea!

  • 3:27 sounds like the begining of the argentine hymn!!

3:27 parece el principio del himno de argentina! que raro!! wtf?? jaja!!

  • @LucilleDyC Ah Si tenes rason! jaja!

  • i love it when the dress falls from the upper level

  • in reality, a smart opera singer would never use a corset during a performance, it would compress the diafram too much...

  • @TheMusicalmasquerade That's exactly was I was thinking! I was wondering if anyone else had thought of that, or if I'm just that OCD with details...

  • Wow...those wigs looks like a pain to wear. Especially Carlotta's...it probably weighs as much as she does :P

  • okay. just my opinion but i think that, if your gonna do the opera, carlotta is the definition of "opera" going very high in notes and pitches. christine is an amazing singer and i love this movie to death.. but everyones hating on carlottta. wtf.? its an opera, get over it.

  • @mcrawesome001 I understand what you mean. My father watched this movie with me. He doesn't know anything about music. Yet he asked a similar question. "Isn't that how an opera singer is supposed to sound?" If he can tell the difference between the style of singing between Carlotta & Christine. Looks like the producers underestimated the audiece's intelligence. Despite the over exageration, Margret Preece (Singing voice of Carlotta) has the best vocals in this movie. Her technique is fantastic!

  • Who else just loves the PUPPIES?!

    :D

  • love Carlotta's parts \m/

  • This is my favorite song from the musical.

  • @lileyith eh me too :)

  • Firmin drinks champagne from Carlotta's slipper because it's an old opera and ballet tradition. Supposedly it lets the drinker absorb the good fortune that the Prima Donna brings to the stage and drink TO the sucess of the show. Personally I think it came about because it's amusing for the Prima to watch her boss drink out of her shoe.
