When using "fdisk -l" (L) check that your OS is marked as bootable. If not marked as boot: sudo fdisk /dev/sda (and use fdisk commands to select it that partition).

For LIVE CD for Grub2 (Ubuntu 10,etc)...boot it. In Terminal:
1) sudo fdisk -l
Look to find where linux is (sda1,sda2,...)
2) sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt
^make sure for sdaX it's the # figured out in step 1
3) sudo grub-install --root-directory=/mnt/ /dev/sda
Done. Reboot. Then: sudo update-grub
When using "fdisk -l" (L) check that your OS is marked as bootable. If not marked as boot: sudo fdisk /dev/sda (and use fdisk commands to select it that partition).

@iPCAdministrator Impossible without 3rd part software installed on it... You really should be using a live environment for this sort of thing.

hey, your video was really helpful and thank you for that, but I need your help!!!!!
I have done all the steps described and when I reach the final step when I have to hit "setup (hd0)" it comes out the message:
"Error 17: Cannot mount selected partition"
Please!!!
Any advise????
Thanks again.
