It doesn't matter if there is no evidence of thyroid cancer...nodules/tumors should be removed. I have had the right lobe of my thyroid removed becaue of a nodule. I am now facing surgery again to have the left lobe of my thyroid removed. Thyroid nodules if left unwatched or removed will lead to airway obstruction and great neck pain. It isn't purdent to wait for the nodule to grow.
