It seriously pisses me off when I look up Carrie Underwood videos, and in the comments people are dissing Taylor. I am a Taylor fan. Just because Carrie's got a heavenly voice doesn't mean you should use Taylor as a comparison to her. Yes, we know Carrie has an amazing voice, but please don't diss Taylor, I love Taylor, and it hurts seeing her being trashed.

@hitta123 she still sounds the same, probably just a bad day. Listen to her at the ACM's or CMA Music Fest and her AI performance this year she still has her voice, it was just a bad night I guess
I actually prefer this performance to the music video, which I thought was pretty lame compared to their other solo videos. This performance you actually feel the sadness and loss and passion that the couple in the song feel.
@row759 Audio problems could definitely account for the pitchiness, but it had nothing to do with how weak and thin their voices sounded that night. Not everyone is on all the time. Like I said, I'd rather listen to "real" performances like that instead of the autotuned ones we are seeing more and more often.
If anything, I think Carrie Underwood overperforms. And don't get me wrong, she has an excellent voice and great talent. I just think she goes overboard with it. Kinda like some people can't resist doing with the Star Spangled Banner

Wow. I love these two artists, but they sounded terrible at the CMAs. Their voices were thin and shaky (along with the occasional off-pitch moments) which is definitely uncharacteristic. I'd still rather hear performances like this over autotuned crap any day.

I agree, neither sounded as great as they normally do, which leads me to believe it was a poorly setup audio system or some other issue with the audio rather than their voices.
Honestly though...she is NOT singing the "right way" and she will NOT have the longevity as say...Martina McBride or Reba does.Vocal pedagogy is a great thing to look into before anyone of you may start to bash me. They get her label mate Miranda to get all the nominations and wins so that Miranada will win all the awards and attention. They dont go by the rules anymore. Ever since Joe Galante left Sony at GM Carrie has gotten no love from these award show/record label. Its all about promoting an artist than awarding an artist based on merit.

Some speculations on her "losing some love" from this award show talked about her not needing the much needed help form her label because she already is an ESTABLISHED artist in the industry. So, don't comment as if you know everything!!! I may give a pass on you saying that Taylor writes her own songs and she can have all the awards as a songwriter. But, for Taylor to win vocalist like before, is out of this world. Just compare Taylor's performance with Carrie's. Taylor is way outside Carrie's vocal level.

In my honest opinion, Carrie Underwood is better because she's been around this long on the top and is an amazing artist. She's good live and has had many amazing songs. Taylor Swift is, as well, a good singer, but appeals more to the younger audience, while Carrie appeals to the more older audience. There is nothing to compare between these two amazing singers.

I love listening to good music .. whether its country, pop or rock, you know a great voice when you hear one.. Carrie Underwood is one of the great voices in the music industry.. you cannot deny that.. same goes to Kelly Clarkson.. they are my top favorite winners on AI.. I stopped watching that show tho.. but both of them have great vocals.. I don't understand why Taylor Swift is included in the comments here but she is not even close into the league of Carrie and Kelly, voice quality wise.

Seems that every year that CMA sound man tries to turn down Carrie's mike and they are surprised by the fact, she got enough vocal power to overcome that and sound outstanding, As Randy said before in an interview about Carrie's vocal power. She can go in any venue and she can still oustanding.

@loyestor1951 Because it her record label who decides who wins an award or not. Lots of polotics invovled in these awards show. They get her label mate Miranda to get all the nominations and wins so that Miranada will win all the awards and attention. They dont go by the rules anymore. Ever since Joe Galante left Sony at GM Carrie has gotten no love from these award show/record label. Its all about promoting an artist than awarding an artist based on merit.

Some speculations on her "losing some love" from this award show talked about her not needing the much needed help form her label because she already is an ESTABLISHED artist in the industry. Hence, Carrie's label thought it wise to give Miranda's (who, by the way, belongs to the same label company, though not directly) career a hand while somehow ignoring Carrie's for a while, I hope.

@ridrime64 Yes, I am well aware for Liz Rose and Taylor Swift's collaboration, but you do not know that Swift was "handed" songs to her, which I am sure she was not because that is the word of her producer, Scott Borcheta, against yours. Also, Liz Rose has written only 60% of Swift's music, but could be less because they worked together on many tracks. I love Carrie Underwood, but I was not the one to bash Taylor Swift, nor will I be the one to bash Carrie Underwood.

@domijess Make your facts straight. Carrie has won at least seven (7) BMI awards, the last three awards only recently and together with Taylor, also with three. So, don't comment as if you know everything!!! I may give a pass on you saying that Taylor writes her own songs and she can have all the awards as a songwriter. But, for Taylor to win vocalist like before, is out of this world. Just compare Taylor's performance with Carrie's. Taylor is way outside Carrie's vocal level.

In my honest opinion, Carrie Underwood is better because she's been around this long on the top and is an amazing artist. She's good live and has had many amazing songs. Taylor Swift is, as well, a good singer, but appeals more to the younger audience, while Carrie appeals to the more older audience. There is nothing to compare between these two amazing singers.

I love listening to good music .. whether its country, pop or rock, you know a great voice when you hear one.. Carrie Underwood is one of the great voices in the music industry.. you cannot deny that.. same goes to Kelly Clarkson.. they are my top favorite winners on AI.. I stopped watching that show tho.. but both of them have great vocals.. I don't understand why Taylor Swift is included in the comments here but she is not even close into the league of Carrie and Kelly, voice quality wise.
