  • host part? interface ID? uh, not for the rest of the world. Also, not fond of your randomcaps. Anyhoo...prefix can be as many bits as desired from 0 to 128; it's just convention that 48 bits are used by many, which is further subnetted downstream. In reality, it's the same as IPv4 CIDR notation, with net part and host part, and the number after the / indicating number of bits in the net part. Only practical limit is when used, at least 64 bits must be available for SLAAC in the host part.
