  • Not heard this in years.Brilliant

  • Jug of Punch is one of my FAVORITES. Especially this version. :) Thanks for the upload.

  • I LOVE THIS MUSIC....

  • my parents came here from Ireland and every party had a bad just like these guys. it was great fun.everyone had to perform music or song or a story. it was great. i go right back there when i hear the old songs.

  • They look like the Dubliners to me...sound like em too

  • Hi, i too would really like to know who these guys are. You see, this CD (All the best Irish drinking Songs) is the first contact i ever had with Irish folk music, their performances has something that made me listen to this cd over and over in the nineties. I still have the CD and there is mysteriously no trace of an an artist or band name... let me know if you would like the CD, i have no trouble thinking that this is class irish folk music like fourshamrock said, cheers!!

  • how could you think these are the dubliners

  • pictures are of the dubliners, but the songs not :P

  • Sorry but this totally isn't The Dubliners. Class Irish Folk Music though. Actually it's called Irish Drinking Songs released in 1997 by Valmark.

  • Thanks. Do you know who the bands/artists are by any chance?

  • At 3:37, the third man from the left. What is going on with the dark circles around his eyes? I don't think I've ever seen someone who had dark circles that bad.

  • That's Ronnie Drew. He is actually deceased now. I don't know why he had dark circles around his eyes back then, but he was a heavy drinker in his younger years, so that may have had something to do with it.

  • He's always had the dark circles around his eyes, even as a youngster from the pictures in his autobiography.

  • No its not the Dubliners. They are called the Jolly Beggermen

  • are they the same band on the other video. sure ive heard them before on some cd. glad you cleared up this mystery.

  • i say its Brier Folk group. i have a cd of them and its the same audience clapping. 100% not the Dubs.

  • I'll check it out. Thanks

  • I could only find 1 42 second live performance of them on the web, so I really can't compare them.

If you wouldn't mind uploading a vid with their music, or sending me a link to a website that will let me hear their stuff for free, it would be greatly appreciated.

  • Please don't list these songs as being sung by the Dubliners. It's not even near in the same league. It's some nice music and thanks for posting, but it's nothing like the Dubs.

    Ard

  • thanks Ard.

  • Who is is then?

  • I don't know, I'm not the one who uploaded them am I;) not the Dubs in any case.

Again, no harm intended and thanks for uploading but first find out who it is before listing it as the Dubs.

  • Well, everyone else thinks it is the Dubs. And unless someone proves me otherwise I'll continue to think the same.

I've listened to it and the Dubs live performances back to back, and they sound the same to me.

  • I just can't believe that, the voices, the pronunciation, the music, it's all completely different..

  • Well, if it's someone else then just say who you think it is.

The only other possiblity in my mind is maybe the Clancy Brothers.

  • the clancys?!

Have you actually listened to them before posting that? They sound completely different. But I don't know who it is, will try to find out though..I'll let you know if I know.

  • Yes, I just did. The Clancys with Tommy Makem.

If it's not either group, then who the fuck knows who it is?

I got this off of a compilation album with no liner notes.

I'm just saying 6 Irishmen (who commented) agreed this is the Dubs.

So if you don't have any other theories on who the band is, then your comments are worthless.

  • this is not the Dubs singing these songs. can you say who is.

  • No, this is the Dubliners.

They don't always use the same lead singer though, if you're looking for all Luke Kelly lead versions.

Compare these songs to the live versions out on youtube.

If you think this is another band, feel free to tell me who you think it is, and I'll check them out.

    Thanks!

  • some of the songs are not on any list the Dubs sing, and ive been a fan for over 40 years.i know them well. sounds a mix of the Clancys, Brier Folk or Barleycorn and other irish bands which i have in my collection which i dont have time to look at. i like the songs you have put on

  • Well, if you watch the Dubliners performance of "Spanish Lady" or "Take Her Up To Monto" live on youtube it sounds the same as here to me. You may want to check it out.

Anyway I'll check out the groups that you mentioned.

    Take care.

  • Well Done, great vid.

  • this is some fine music and viewing, thanks for sharing.

  • wow cool video, and music

  • True enough we'll all pass from this world, but few of us will shine so brightly as Mr.Drew.Our loss is Heaven's gain.God rest him.

  • great video blunt, r.i.p ronnie drew

  • Am a big Dubliners fan! Thanks for posting this video!

  • being a big Dubliners fan, do you really think this sounds like the Dubs?

  • Great video!!
