Unlike other fighting games, Marvel allows you to cancel normals into specials even on whiff. When used with characters with super armor, it becomes effective against players that press buttons all the time. In MvC3, Mike Ross cancels HP or Gamma Charge into Gamma Crush. In MvC2, Mike Z was notorious for his insta-kills with glitched Juggs' Headcrush.

Yeah, I've always said Clock isn't all that good, and I think this kinda proves it lol. I mean, I still think he's definitely worthy of being one of the best in the world, but compared to Jwong and Combofiend and them, he's not that great. Before he picked Phoenix he was losing, to Mike Ross, of all people. And when he did start picking Phoenix, he was still gettin outplayed until Dark Phoenix won him the match. Like he said, Mike Ross didn't beat anyone else he did sets with...just saiyan.

@obonicus He still has 2 other chars that are his best chars. And when he picked Phoenix, he only won one match without Dark Phoenix. And I don't even mean just here, that's how a lot of Clocks matches go. He gets beasted up until Dark Phoenix, then wins. From his performance outside of Phoenix, I think if he picked a different char, he wouldn't do as well against anybody. At least Viscant holds his own without Phoenix. Clock hardly ever does that against the best of players.
