@thenaleto Alice Margatroid in fanon (possibly canon) is depicted to be a depressed girl. Before she moved to the forest of magic, she lived in Makai with other great people (from 0:55 to 1:15). She's remembering when she was younger, and wonders why she's not happy a lot. She only has dolls to play with. If you look up the english lyrics on Touhou Wiki, it's probably more easier to understand.

@Otaku4ever801 Alice Margatroid is the first character from the PC-98 series to return to the Windows games, and the PV shows about her young self, which was her original design from the PC-98 series. She's gone from a little magician demon to a doll-making youkai.

@Azartusfar This is about a character from Touhou Project, which is a large game series, made by a few people for the first five games, and now made only by one after the small company broke up, but the series has about 18 installments so far.

Anyway, this song is about Alice Margatroid (there is a book reference in the name, yes), and every now and then, the lyrics switch to a doll's point of view (Alice has the ability to give life to the dolls she creates).

@Random1a2b3c4d5e6f7g I think it's that the dolls she abandoned were the first dolls she used while she was with Shinki. However, she eventually came to create Shanghai and Hourai, thus leading to new dolls that she probably saw as more efficient. Many creators abandon their old works to put the past behind them, look towards the future. Thus I believe Alice threw away her old dolls from the PC-98 universe... to move on into the world of the Windows Era.

@somepartsareme Theyre the bosses from Mystic Square, since thats the game alice made her first appearance in. It is said that se=he was created by Shinki, the 6th boss (girl with silver hair). Therefore, Alice is sort of an artificial child herself.

The people in the clock are characters from Touhou 5~Mystic Square: Mima (Marisa's Teacher), Sara, Luize, Mai and Yuki, Yumeko, and Lastly, Shinki (1-6 stage bosses). At the end of the video it's young Alice and Shinki in the picture frame with Mima and Yuka overtop them (They were playable characters then).

IOSYS is a group of people who make music. Most of thier music is Touhou remixes. Touhou is an awesome series of shooter games by a drunkard named ZUN. Almost all of the characters you see in IOSYS videos are from Touhou. There are other groups like Innocent Key who also do Touhou remixes, and IOSYS will sometimes partner with them on a song, or someone will mistake the song as being by IOSYS, as they're one of the largest groups. Get it yet?
