Fine, but that's not the way it is in the Arab world, which is definitely NOT secular and not interested in becoming secular or even letting others remain secular. This movie nicely illustrates same of the fundamental problems with modern Islam's perspective. It equates 'Western values' with the Bible (omitting everything about the Enlightenment), and it cannot puzzle apart the ideas of opposition to Religion, Ethnicity, and Race. It does not begin to understand the criticism leveled against it, and the perspective from which it is being criticized, which is why its response seems to toothless and vapid.

I had the idea that this was a response to 'Fitna', so I was really interested in seeing the explaination of the Quranic verses that 'Fitna' pinpointed as hateful. None was given. Not a single peep. (I wonder why though?)

The verses of the Qur'an depicted if Fitna are from a specific context. They were actually rules of engagement in a defensive war between the Muslims and the Arab Pagans of the time.
Concerning modern day interpretation, keep in mind that only 20% of Muslims are actually Arab. Most don't have a comprehensive understanding of the Qur'an to begin with, so I'm not exactly sure how relevant this discussion even is.

I'm not a Christian, but I think it is somewhat unfair to summarise Luke 19:22-27 as they do in the beginning.
For one thing he is telling a parable about a foreign king. But even if you take the king to be a metaphor for jesus, then take the verse about killing literally, surely you cant just ignore the numerous times jesus speaks out against murder or harming enemies, like in Matthew 5 through to 7.

this movie is a sad and weak response to Fitna... The quote it uses on Jesus Christ is totally misrepresented, either deliberately or by ignorance. It appears in a symbolic story about a king and his 3 workers, where the king says that anyone who refuses to live by his rules be killed, NOT JESUS CHRIST!
The perversion of this verse is all the more odd because Jesus Christ is a prophet in the Qu'ran as well.

It's sad to see that both sides have had weak, or misinterpreted/misrepresented verses. If one were to read the verses before and after the ones provided in Fitna, then you'd get a different view on the Quran. I think it's safe to say the same for the quotes used in this movie.

This movie is full of smoke and mirrors. It never addresses any of the issues about Islam that have been raised. It shows random videos with assertions that muslims are being victimized. The bible verses are taken out of context. This is just another pathetic tool in a muslim attempt to make people think Islam is not dangerous. If you read the koran and the hadith you will find out how intolerant and violent Islam is.

Islam is being prejudiced because of what its extremist do, but not all muslims agreed to what they did..
it is just so hurtful to witness such conflicts between beliefs and religions.
we were not taught to "be-head" those who do not embrace Islam, because we believe that it was a matter between them and god, and that we shouldn't judge them based on their religions.
Islam itself means harmony, but the extremists and the Islamophobics are making it hard to fulfil that.

You need to know the reason and background when that verses were revealed. these are mostly during the time when Islam was being opposed by those who thought it was against their faith and interests so when someone weak like Muslims at that time faced such an intense opposition, they were told to fight against them, Moses, Jesus, Abraham and other prophets were did the same as mentioned in Quran. It does not matter what the bible says, because the Dutch don't take that book seriously. The problem with the Koran is that it is taken very seriously (and literally) by many muslims. I dont think u can compare this to what kind of religion takes place in a society.
Religious texts are of course sensitive, but do not kill people.
I used to be religious but I realised I cannot totally live by a book rewritten and respread by just human beings, in so many decades.

The video talks about us living in a secular society where religion does not determine the rule of law. Fine, but that's not the way it is in the Arab world, which is definitely NOT secular and not interested in becoming secular or even letting others remain secular. The very notion of religion being interpreted in a way that has an effect on the rule of law is anti-secular. Our law is not the Bible, while Sharia law IS the Quran.
