If you dont have the "patience to grow one that big"(quote from other post) then having Koi is not for you. Those are very fine koi and champions indeed.
lol, actually...ALL koi have the potential to grow that big, given the right diet and a large area to move and sleep in. eventually they will grow as big as that...but who has the patience to grow 1 that big, might take 10 years.
My apologies to Izumiya. It just looked a bit alarming seeing such an expensive and beautiful creature being moved that way, but I suppose that they have to be moved by some method and they are probably used to being handled that way. I have kept Koi in my pond for 18 years and I have very rarely had the need to remove them. As a result, they have become very tame and friendly and I like to hand feed them. This also enables me to check them for parasites or injuries.
I heard that the value of Champion Koi in Japan can be over £5 million !!!
I cannot believe that the bloke was allowed to move the Showa from one vat to the other with his bare hands. What if he had dropped it when it struggled ?
The person who moved the fish with his bare hands is Izumiya a very famous koi breeder in Japan. He has over 40 years of experience moving fish aound with his bare hands.

Plenty of koi can get to that size, but, to get one that big w/ any kind of color, skin quality, pattern, is a real feat.
