Thanks for sharing. The first popular music song I remember hearing was Sundown ... I couldn't have been any older than 4 or 5 years old. I've loved it ever since and have come to appreciate so many of his tunes. His CDs are a mainstay in my vehicle and my wife and I sing to them whenever we are on the road!!

I just saw him last night at Casino Rama, near his hometown of Orillia. His voice has aged of course, but he hits all the notes and puts on a great show! All of the classics - very moving to hear them from Gordon himself - and the same back-up musicians who have been there with him since the '70s. If you get a chance to see him, take it!

Saw Gordon in Evansville, IN back in September. Just awesome. What an awesome songwriter it was a treat and a privilege. Also got to hang out with most of the band later at the hotel/casino lounge. They sounded great by the way.

Gordon is a genius! If he had never done anything else in his life but "If You Could Read My Mind", what a contribution he would have made, but he has done so much more. A true poet!
I have always wanted to meet Gordon since I was a young kid in the 60's. I have a few friends that have worked with him. To me his music is the very heart and soul of Canada. I believe his music has shaped many peoples lives, not just singers and song writers, but the people who grew up listening to his music. Just dropping a line to say "Howdy" to Mr Lightfoot and his gorgeous daughters. Want to let you know that every time I hear any Gordie song, I become young again. Carefree Highway just takes me way way back and many many places. Thanks for the music Gordie. I love every bit of it, you have given me a lot to be happy and to dream about. I wish you happiness and all things good too. I enjoyed your performance in Melbourne Australia a long time ago and will always love your music.

I have been a fan of Gordon since about 1965. I first seen him in concert in Wheeling West Virginia,and 30 years later and I will never forget it.What a voice and poet,I have every record you have recorded, thank you . I am glad to see you doing well and may god bless.

I've said it once and I said it again, Gordon if you come to Tokyo you are welcome to stay with us in our spacious apartment... almost 500 sqft. Well maybe a hotel is better for you so we will meet you at the train station and show you around the historic sites if you want. Sorry we will miss you in my home town Portland by just a couple weeks... Hope you are well... a Yankee fan.

And how the heck did you become a Yankees fan and not a Red Sox fan? ;-) All kidding aside, Gord is one of my all-time favorites, right next to Paul Simon. I saw Gordon play here in SD a couple years ago and, although his voice was not as strong as it used to be, he still put on a fantastic show. Go Rams!

When I bought a CB radio in the 80s (OK now you know I am really old), I wondered what my 'handle' should be, so my pappy suggested Yankee Shogun because I am a Yank who spent a lot of time in Japan. As he passed away a couple years later, I decided to use the name he gave me on the Internet. In Portland I am from little Sylvan school area - Lincoln HS. If Portland gets a MLB team I want them to be called the 'Navees...' who built the railway...

I agree geo31 - if he had never done anything but "If You Could Read My Mind", he still is a part of world history and Canadian history with just that one song. Thank you for posting this. I love Gordon Lightfoot - there were years in college that i learned all his songs - learned guitar from him, etc. My entire "possy" was crazy about Gordon Lightfoot. Still are.

I have always wanted to meet Gordon since I was a young kid in the 60's. I have a few friends that have worked with him. To me his music is the very heart and soul of Canada. I believe his music has shaped many peoples lives, not just singers and song writers, but the people who grew up listening to his music. Many people say the Beatles changed the world well I think in his own way Gordon did too. This is from one proud Canadian, Thankyou Gord

I have loved Gordon since a boyfriend played "The First Time Ever I saw your face" to me while.....
That was in '69. The boyfriend, Bob Fredrick was from Canada and had come to USA to join the Air Force. He left that record with me when he went to Vietnam. I've since lost track of him but Gordon is still my fav singer.

Right after you were born I talked to your dad after a concert in Springfield, Massachusetts. My son had just been born and you both were around the same age. He's got a baby picture with your dad's autograph on it. Pretty cool.
