  • Howdy Gordon and Happy Birthday. Looking forward to seeing you in June.

    Your daughter is a sweetheart.

  • keepin the old man humble..nothing like a teenage daughter

    thank you

    pretty cool

  • @sebectec agreed. saw this video ages ago. but still am glad its up

  • National treasure!!!!!!!

  • Gordon, you... you Beethoven of country music !

  • Thanks for sharing. The first popular music song I remember hearing was Sundown ... I couldn't have been any older than 4 or 5 years old. I've loved it ever since and have come to appreciate so many of his tunes. His CDs are a mainstay in my vehicle and my wife and I sing to them whenever we are on the road!!

  • Very cool!

I've loved your Dad's music for....oh....a very long time. I was poking around and enjoying his Youtube "catalog" and came across your vid.

    Thank you for sharing!!

  • That's very cool.

  • A typical little girl with her dad! How Gordon has changed from a no good ````.... to this lovely warm man and father. God forgave him and gave him true love....`

I met him once way back when, so 35 years ago...he´s a friend of my cousin and we got to saty with him...it was awesome!

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY Mr. GORDON LIGHTFOOT!!!

  • I think this video is cute!!! Glad to see Gordon in good health, and enjoying his family!!! I've been a fan for 30 years.

  • Yeah I agree. It would be nice to find her personal volume switch and turn it down, or even off!

  • @piehole23 how disrespectful. let me just go hug my dad now and maybe he'll teach me some more fingerpicking... beat that

  • @lucybellecrater

How about I go hug my wide collection of Gord's albums ...without squealing into a microphone annoyingly?

  • @piehole23 why are you such a rude human being? i showed my dad your comment and he thinks you're a real dolt... (not his words) lol shame on you

  • I agree

  • I feel this video is sweet, cute and funny. I've always been a Gordon Lightfoot fan. This man is one of the best songwriters of all time. It is good to see him healthy and doing well cause I know a while back he was sick and not doing so well. We should all be thankful for his talents and the dedication he puts into his works for all of us to enjoy.

  • @asparrow i was 10, you moron, and my dad loved me for who i am and still does, so shut your mouth.

  • @iheartrumsey Right on, apparently others agree though.

  • Gordon Lightfoot is a Legend!!!!!

  • Howdy Meredith, I was your age when I first met your father in 1972. I've seen him and talked with him several times since then. My sons, ages 32 and 28 met him after a show in Columbus. They thanked him for the great show and told him they grew up with his music. I kissed your pop on the cheek and asked him to say my name. He probably thought I was nuts, and I am, about him anyway. Ask him if he remembers that and send him my love and best wishes!

  • Is this really Gordon? If so, how does he put up with that annoying child?

  • That girl IS annoying!

  • Gordon unexpectedly popped out of the woodwork like some ghost from a wishing well. I am very excited to see the greatest songwriter soo alive and well.

  • Love Gord, great songwriter.

  • Oh I miss you Gordon!

  • Howdy Gordy! My dad loves your music and I still listen to it too.

  • Gordon is the BEST! Saw him last Oct. in Great Falls , Montana. Fantastic! Heading to Peterborough in a week to catch him again. Loved his music for more that 35 years. He still puts on a great show. Can't wait.!

  • @samac7 I lived in Great Falls, Montana in 1975, it must have really grown to have concerts there now. I too, have loved and cherished Mr. Lightfoot for as long as you have! Where do you live now?

  • Comment removed

  • @samac7 Awesome, you decided to be "Alberta Bound" and watch the sun decline behind the blue Rockies! You certainly are fortunate to live there. My dream is to travel through that area on the Canadian Railway. Yes, Gord is a kind soul. I have pics of him and I throughout the years as well.

  • Hey Gordon, what are you eatin? My sisters going to see you live, I live in the bush so I cant go, im jealous. Howdy.

  • I just saw him last night at Casino Rama, near his hometown of Orillia. His voice has aged of course, but he hits all the notes and puts on a great show! All of the classics - very moving to hear them from Gordon himself - and the same back-up musicians who have been there with him since the '70s. If you get a chance to see him, take it!

  • We love you Gordie! Can we see more of these little out-takes at home? LOL You must have your hands full! Hey forget Gene Simmons & Ozzie Osborne lets have our Canadian version of the Gordon Lightfoot show! Hee hee hee!!!!

  • I thought this was fake or something dumb but its him! can't believe it lol

  • One of the absolute best songwriters of all time! Wow!

  • My first concert ever was Gordon Lightfoot when I was about 12 so that would have been 18 years ago and my husband just got me tickets to see him this April (2010) in Moncton NB. Can't wait. WooHoo. Can't wait to see you again Mr. Lightfoot. :)

  • that's cute...live long and prosper, mr lightfoot

  • I'm going to see Gordon here in Colorado in October!!!!! I think he ranks right up there with Jim Croce and Harry Chapin

  • @IrenefromSomerville Well Irene from Somerville, you know Croce and Chapin are dead. I know he's lookin' a little peekid, but he's still with us - honest. Look there - drbj saw him just last night.

  • this is way cool , gordon ,awsome kids

  • Was that his kid? Man shes got a lot of energy! Far out! Love it.

  • Gordon Lightfoot is my favorite songwriter.....David/Galveston, Tx. 40

  • Hey nice! Great to see candid footage of Canadian icon and legend. Mr. Lightfoot, you are an inspiration to us all, Sir!

  • Whoa!

  • And "Howdy" to you, Gordon! What a thrill...! PLEASE, PLEASE...ask your dad if he would do a tour of the west coast in 2010! And do a stop-over here in Reno, Nevada...PLEASE, PLEASE...

  • Saw Gordon in Evansville, IN back in September. Just awesome. What an awesome songwriter it was a treat and a privilege. Also got to hang out with most of the band later at the hotel/casino lounge. They sounded great by the way.

  • Howdy, Gordon! You're the greatest!

  • I just watched his concert in Champaign Illinois.

  • Lordy Gordie - that could be my own daughter -she is just so full of life. And what a treat the video is. Yeah - thanks for sharing.

  • Gordon Lightfoot is a legend!

  • I wish I could meet and talk to Mr. Lightfoot. I hope I see him in the new system.

  • Hey 1imperfection, from the old newfie, my kids at that age acted the same way in front of a video camera. That is how kids act. Don't let those clowns that are commenting get you down. It was a delight to see the three of you and I hope all is well.

  • Hey do me a favor and tell dad that an old newfie says hi, and that my favorite is Summertime Dream will you please. Thanks Ron South Carolina

  • I still get a kick out of this one. Loved it.

  • Thank you for this delightful mini video. Gordon is my all time favorite singer songwriter. We'd had the pleasure of seeing him many times in concert (since 1977), and were thrilled to talk to him up close & personal a number of times after his concerts (most recently last June in Glenside, PA). His songs are fabulous - my favorites include Circle of Steel, Daylight Katy, Sea of Tranquility, Ghosts of Cape Horn ... I could go on and on! Bless you, Gordon, for your music and being a gentleman!

  • You and your Dad (and friend) are great together. It is obvious how much love you have for each other. I love the new videos too. Keep them coming. You all are a joy to watch!

  • Hi...ask your dad to do a "live from home" version of Carefree Highway for us!!! THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!!! And probably a You-Tube first! Thanks :)

  • pretty cool. there is something neat about seeing an icon like Gordon Lightfoot at home with his kids. thanks. Got anything else you can show us?

  • 1imperfection: Very good. Nice to meet you. Sorry for the mix up. What an immensely talented father you have!

Your dad has one of the most beautiful male singing voices ever, & I have loved his music dearly for a long time, as have millions of others.

I still get goosebumps listening to his music. I sing "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald", "Sundown", "If You Could Read My Mind" and "Canadian Railroad Trilogy" at Karaoke and when I play guitar in the pubs. I guess I owe him some royalties!

  • Are you guys his grandchildren?

  • I'm his daughter, shes my best friend. (like my sister, and like his daughter cause she's always around haha)

don't underestimate the age of good old gordie. hehe

hes young for his age. :]

he still tours, doesnt he? god.

  • Hi 1imprefection. Don't let these childish people on here get you. Your father is love by millions, and an incon in his own right. You're were just being his daughter and you're just a cute kid having fun ! AHh to be young again. Keep your dad young and around for many more years, as he is dearly loved in the world. He has inspired me to be a musican along my lifes road and he's just the greatest ! Love to your and yours !

  • @1imperfection im just an insulator who loves guitar and i love gordon lightfoot howdy gord and best wishes to you and your beautiful family

  • Thanks for posting this...excellent! really cool to see such an awesome talent of a guy at home.

  • I just saw Gordon perform at Bob Hope theatre in Stockton,CA. I have his first album, "Lightfoot," and should have brought it along for a sig. although I'm sure that would have been a million to 1 odds! He was amazing as always!

  • A little Lightfoot, how Lucky, she will know

  • i know now!

    as i have always! :)

  • boy that girl needs to calm down or something...keep her away from sugar.

  • well thats rude.

    i agree i was a hyper child,

but you need not throw in such a harsh remark.

I have a high amount of respect for my father, and none of you should second guess that.

I wasn't the calmest kid around... but then again, i was 11 here. i am 15 now and learned to shut up.

this was 4 years ago, and my dad did not look at it as a means of disrespect, thanks, he looked at it as just "his daughter being his daughter."

    so mind your own buisness.

  • here here

  • Some people don't have anything better to do with their time...so don't shut up. I saw the fish. It shows that you and your dad really enjoy and love one another. You keep him young.

  • =)))))

  • Gordon is the coolest Canadian around....I miss Toronto!!!!!!

  • I love the story: "Bob Dylan's been visiting the school where his grandson (Jakob Dylan's son) goes, but the kids don't appreciate they are in the presence of a musical legend. They just think of him as the weird guitar guy."

Does Gord ever play & sing for his kid's (grandkid's) friends ? If so, what do they think ?

  • Gordon Lightfoot saved my life.

  • Gordon we love ya here and everywhere. Thank You for being YOU!!! Never change. God Bless you and yours eternally...

  • Not only does Gordon Lightfoot have great songs, he also has the best lyrics and a great voice......3 for 3 isn't bad.

  • WELL DONE

  • Too funny!

Although I agree, had it not been for Gordon a lot of us wouldn't have many favorite songs. Thank you so much for your music and accomplishments!

  • Gordon Lightfoot is the man

  • even Bob Dylan has called Lightfoot his favorite songwriter, right?

  • Do the girls ever look like their father!

    Thanks for this

  • Just dropping a line to say "Howdy" to Mr Lightfoot and his gorgeous daughters. Want to let you know that every time I hear any Gordie song, I become young again. Carefree Highway just takes me way way back and many many places. Thanks for the music Gordie. I love every bit of it, you have given me a lot to be happy and to dream about. • Hi,

    Very cute video....

Your father is one of my favorite singer/songwriters... one of the best,if not the best, folk artist...

    I've viewed a few youtube posts with your father's songs.. I was wondering if he knew that there were some people who are quite adamant that he was born in Ohio :{

    P.

  • why would people be quite adamant that he was born in ohio ? please elaborate . The lyrics to The wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald are amazing as is the whole song

  • I have been a fan of Gordon since about 1965. I first seen him in concert in Wheeling West Virginia, and 30 years later and I will never forget it.What a voice and poet,I have every record you have recorded, thank you . I am glad to see you doing well and may god bless.

Your dad is an amazing musician. I was lucky enough to catch him at the St. Jamestown Festival (we were living there at the time and just happened to catch the afternoon show - glad I did!) Awesome.

    Thank you Gordon Lightfoot!

  • Mer, Love your Dad's music. Saw him in Cleveland twice. Once at the Front Row Theater and once at Cain Park. Truly a talented man.

  • Mer, I am a dad and a musician, and a fan of your dad's music for 37 years. After years of albums and concerts, it is so nice to catch a glimpse of everyday homelife of one I admire so much. Thank you for posting it. Looking forward to hearing YOU on music of the future.

  • I just dropped in to say Howdy...So I'll say it...

    ...Howdy - from beatiful Penetanguishene,Ontario

    God Bless You :)

  • Anything Gordon Lightfoot does is awsome!! You have a great daddy, Mer.

  • lol...that is an awesome clip!

  • The legend lives on...

  • Wow!!! This is a great little home vid of Gordy. He's a brilliant musician, and I'm one of his fans. Very rare little taste of home vid humour considering he's a popular musician. Youtube is amazing. Gordy, you're the man!!!

  • Gosh ... Well thank you so very much for this wonderful exclusive appearance:)... I love all of Mr. Lightfoot's songs... especially "Saturday Clothes"... i just cant get enough of that one :)... I wish him all the best always... God Bless... --Bobby

  • I've said it once and I said it again, Gordon if you come to Tokyo you are welcome to stay with us in our spacious apartment... almost 500 sqft. Well maybe a hotel is better for you so we will meet you at the train station and show you around the historic sites if you want. Sorry we will miss you in my home town Portland by just a couple weeks... Hope you are well... a Yankee fan.

  • Yankeeshogun - what part of Portland are you from? And how the heck did you become a Yankees fan and not a Red Sox fan? ;-) All kidding aside, Gord is one of my all-time favorites, right next to Paul Simon. I saw Gordon play here in SD a couple years ago and, although his voice was not as strong as it used to be, he still put on a fantastic show. Go Rams!

  • Ray Naver-I meant Yank as in American. When I bought a CB radio in the 80s (OK now you know I am really old), I wondered what my 'handle' should be, so my pappy suggested Yankee Shogun because I am a Yank who spent a lot of time in Japan. As he passed away a couple years later, I decided to use the name he gave me on the Internet. In Portland I am from little Sylvan school area - Lincoln HS. If Portland gets a MLB team I want them to be called the 'Navees...' who built the railway...

  • Howdy Mr.Lightfoot! The world adores you and all you have given us.Please come to Chicago or nearby if you feel like it.We would all love to hear and see you so much.Best wishes and prayers to all of you.

  • Crazy. Tell your dad it would be awesome if he made of video or two.

  • Howdy:-D Thanks for short but sweet video.

'Your Love's Return' is one of the most beautiful songs ever sung.

  • He totally rules....

  • lol funny. though the mic seems a bit loud on your camera, =\

  • i just dropped in to say howdy so ill say it... howdy. lmao hes a classic.

PS thats me going "oh daddy"

  • I agree geo31 - if he had never done anything but "If You Could Read My Mind", he still is a part of world history and Canadian history with just that one song. Thank you for posting this. I love Gordon Lightfoot - there were years in college that i learned all his songs - learned guitar from him, etc. My entire "possy" was crazy about Gordon Lightfoot. Still are.

  • An awesome man!!!

  • What a coincidence, I just dropped in to say howdy too! I love Gordon Lightfoot!

  • Love you Gordon Lightfoot !

  • A real music hero!

  • Gordon Lightfoot!!! you've written songs that touched so many lives and now with your kindness and understanding, you have touched so many hearts!!!

  • Awesome,

  • i ♥ him for who he is, not his makeup job.

  • Gordon is a genius! If he had never done anything else in his life but "If You Could Read My Mind", what a contribution he would have made, but he has done so much more. A true poet!

  • I LOVE Gordon Lightfoot! Love him love him love him He was my first crush!

  • I have always wanted to meet Gordon since I was a young kid in the 60's. I have a few friends that have worked with him. To me his music is the very heart and soul of Canada. I believe his music has shaped many peoples lives, not just singers and song writers, but the people who grew up listening to his music. Many people say the Beatles changed the world well I think in his own way Gordon did too. This is from one proud Canadian, Thankyou Gord

  • Love Elvis... And love Gordon!!! Early Morning Rain in 1973 at Aloha was an honor for Gordon!!!

The Wreck and Carefree Highway take me back!

  • I have loved Gordon since a boyfriend played "The First Time Ever I saw your face" to me while.....

That was in '69. The boyfriend, Bob Fredrick was from Canada and had come to USA to join the Air Force. He left that record with me when he went to Vietnam. I've since lost track of him but Gordon is still my fav singer.

His daughter (the blonde) and I are friends so I met him but dont get me wrong he is really down-to-earth just like you and I.

  • Hi Girls:

My wife and I saw Gord on 4/27/07 in Glenside, PA. and spent a few moments with him after the show. My wife actually was going to mention how she enjoyed this video but it slipped her mind.

    Ben & Karen

  • The way I feel. Great music.

  • You should try to act more like your dad. Write them good songs.

  • Gordon Lightfoot is one of the greatest men alive today.

  • Howdy Gordon and girls! Little girl....thanks for psting this. It's kool.

  • Right after you were born I talked to your dad after a concert in Springfield, Massachusetts. My son had just been born and you both were around the same age. He's got a baby picture with your dad's autograph on it. Pretty cool.
