I agree with Peter Schiff,, He's right in every way, especially the last part.
I live in Norway,, the so called best country in the world. Socialists all over the world looks at my country and want to adopt the system we have... But we got rich because of Oil,, nothing else...
It is like comparing yourself with a lottery-millionaire... Look how good he is doing it, I wanna adopt that...
Is there not a case to be made for invasion from an economic and geopolitcal standpoint to control oil? Its clear that the US wouldn't spend billions on afganistan, iraq and probably iran for purely humanitarian (the reason given to the public) reasons.
China needs afgan oil, nigerian oil, brazilian oil, etc, to continue 8% growth. Resources concentrated in the middle east are increasingly key strategic weapons for the owner controller. I'd like to hear Peter's take on the underlying reasons.
i was thinking the other day about global warming and how people are saying the government needs to grow in size and power so it can intervene and save the world from global warming.
well, maybe global warming has been CAUSED by big government. imagine as peter said, how far ahead the world would be if america had kept its government small, technology and efficiency would be a million times better.
Or maybe global warming doesn't exist and it's a bunch of crap made up to scare people into accepting new taxes and more government control of their lives and actions.
Hmm, I'm really rethinking some of the talking points of Schiff and Rand Paul. Why have they not addressed the moral delinma of the war? It seems its always about money. That is something many anti-war liberals are suspicious about when it comes to anti-iraq conservatives. Ron Paul still appears to be one of the few voices who gets it right all the way around. This is a multi-faceted issue. So would Mr. Schiff or Rand Paul support war in Afghanistan? There comments leave much to be desired.
A movie based on an alternate reality of a free market America sounds interesting.
It is the year 1990. The Outernet is now setup between galaxies. I mostly work from home but get in my car and fly over, when the situation warrants it. The average human life span has just broken 200 years.
Again, Peter showing great common sense and intelligence on issues other than his forte, the economy.
This is why we need citizens who have excelled in their private careers running for office rather than bureaucrats and politicians who have never in life accomplished anything.
If people vote for guys like Simmons or Dodd over Peter, then I will me convinced that most Americans are dumb and deserve the mess that exists in Washington.
One thing that peter does forget is that most of these problems we have started in the early 70's when most of the ills of this country started to pick up and really show. What happened besides all of the BS of the 60's was that us oil production peaked in 1971 and we have had to spend more and more of our wealth on foreign oil. Think of the capital we lost with that oil. NOW, we could have used that oil efficiently and turned it into products the world wanted to buy, we built suburbia instead.
The government has MADE welfare, UEC and SS absolutely necessary. How can a citizen earning a normal wage put away enough money to help if looses his job or something when the gov is taking so much plus eroding savings with a high inflation rate? If you put away 5k in 1990 and needed it in 2003, it bought half as much, even if it was in a bank account getting interest. What is the point of saving if it doesn't buy anything when you need it.
