I am somewhat amused by the supposed proper way of loading a cannon... here are a few points:
-when the barrel is loaded the combution chamber will contain air that actually has to be displaced, so to get a proper air-fuel mixture you are better off adding the propellant with an open barrel.
-Irrational fear is dangerous. The added pressure on the gas will make it easier to ignite. It is dangerous to fool with a cannon that does not ignite consistantly.
if you make it out of metal and welt everything together and then put in a lot of butane and above the potato u put some small stones in it and then fire it the police gets very very angry, i did this 2 and they gave me a fine of 200 dollars...
@CozImSoJedi Its better to use a knife to ignite the propellant? That is the most redneck thing I have ever read.. Do you get in there with a flint too? You miss the concept behind the abs cannon.. Everything you need is available from a hardware store, and in 24 hours you can have an operational cannon. Abs ruptures, and leads to very little possible harm.
I used oxygen and propane in my cannon.. I tried to blow that thing up.. And failed.. I shot golfballs out of mine.
:) I'm glad that you are out here giving safety advice but I'm sure there are a lot worse videos that you could focus on. I'll probably make more gun movies and I'll try to be safe and show more safety and respect when using my real firearms. Do you have any suggestions? mind you my only real guns are a 16 guage shotgun and a .22 semi auto not much to speak of

I was thinking something along the lines of normal golf.. or even long ranged mini golf lol. just plain shooting it is fun.. the only downside is that.. I lost like 35 golfballs, in something like 3 sessions. They are not really lost.. More like spread out over several miles due north of my yard lol.
A few times I have had a projectile securely resist being shot. My design has 4 little holes for wires, the pressure bleeds out if it remains in the chamber long enough. think thats bad? well I dont. as far as I am concerned, the reaction happens so fast that there is not enough time for the gas to excape though said tiny holes. I am planning on making a hybrid so I will definately put more thought into it. something a little more dependable than 4 little holes.
I have had the same idea to revolutionize the game of golf :) I was working on the idea of building a gun that would fit into a modified golf bag so that I could actually sneek it on to a golf course. I started working on the idea and then I went and made a cannon instead. I made a movie of it called "thumper bites it"
I do plan on coming back to the gun it a golf bag idea some time in the future.

I would really look into a remote trigger. that would be awesome. picture a golfbag standing there.. then for no obvious reason at all it emits a loud report, launching a ball farther than any club could ever drive one.

you're a tool.
all you need is any gas from methane to pentane probably, and a hard material to make a barrel.
then, some way of igniting it. better to use a knife.

I've tried other fuels and I like propane. I don't see how using starter fluid, either, gasoline, or acetylene would make it any safer.

ABS Pipe, Glue, 2 screws, a BBQ ignighter and I used a litte bit of fiberglass and a heat gun to make the handles a bit nicer and stronger
