But what makes it good competition is their body styles and their advantages/disadvantages, like 2 ton non turbo merc with a 5.0L vs a 1.5 ton turbo Volvo with a 2.3L

then again merc made a c class for a reason (i think :p)

i agree a standard 850 t5 is no where near a 500E, but this model is way faster, except not a 0-60 time but mid-range.

a w124 500e or E500 could take you on considering its just about at the same body style

@tjwakaa These 850s are great cars. The combination of Turbocharger and 5-Cylinders makes them hell of fast cars. But that's true. A BMW E34 M5, Mercedes-Benz W124 E500 or an Audi C4 S4 V8 would be faster and more important: RWD (4WD in the case of the Audi).

Chiped it is of course, but it has stronger pistons, clutch and flywheel.. Turbo T04S i think.. 3" exhaust all the way then some other thing also, another camshafts and so on =)

It was an act of brilliance on behalf of Volvo to collaborate with TVR when they designed the 8 series. I'm seriously considering adding a Yellow T to my garage(if I can find one, rare cars...). The 945 Turbo and C70 GT could use a new comrade. ;)
