With the possible exception of Johnny Hartman, the most vocally relaxed singer I have ever heard.
I love Benton, but he's all wrong for this tune, and if it's sung the way Willie wrote it, the melody spans two octaves and a third, making it more difficult to sing than "The Star-Spangled Banner." Check out Elledge's, Felts' and Hinton's versions to hear this vocal challenge properly met.
I am a Brook Benton Fan, but his interpretation of this song deeply disappoints me, I guess that after hearing Al Green's version, all other versions sound dull.
Another great song written by the uber-talented Willie Nelson.

I don't need to say anything because Brooke Benton is saying it ALL.

Not disappointed by this song at all, the smoothness, but the noise in the background messes up a great voice, Brook's interpretation is great.

I think this would be a LOT better if whoever posted this wasn't makin' a bunch
of extraneous noise in the background. Also coulda done without the schmaltzy
arrangement.. the female singers sorta ruin it. Pretty typical of the time- lots
of tunes sounded like this in the 50 's & 60's .. BB probably didn't have a lot to say
about it.
