Yamaha Acoustic, Kingston strat (first guitar), Gibson Explorer, Gibson Les Paul Classic, ESP Eclipse II, ESP Custom Explorer, Fender American Strat, Fender Tele MIM, and I am about to pick up a Gibson SG Standard, so 9 in a week.
Hello there, I ´m a real fan of your vids. I´ve visited your profile many, many times. For example, you made me buy Metal Muff. Now, you show some incredible tone in this vid... How are you doing this? Right now I have to say I´m starting to be really unsatisfied with my tone, I´m going to get SD pickups into my Epi LP Custom, I think tis with make a huge difference to my sound. And next stop, a tube amp...
Hot pickups just means that they are voice to be very loud. For example my main guitar has quiet Seymour Duncans but my main Strat has very loud Dimarzios and there is a huge volume difference from my amps just from switching guitars.
yeah more output. louder and more intense sound. from my understanding the main deal is that more output (louder) going into an amp or pedal will yield a more intense sound. see proguitarshop demos where they demo pedals with both a strat and lp. with humbuckers (usually hotter, not always), theres more distortion, noise, intensity, whatever you wanna call it. so in my mind most of the previous answers are right.
man, you have some awesome videos, what would you recomend for pickups? i mean something in the price range of up to $250, im looking for distortion. Also around same price range for an amp. just send me a message if you have some good ideas. Nice playing!
Is the video supposed to be set to play really fast? The clip length shortens a LOT when I click into the video. it's only 45 seconds long.

I was recently looking at the Jackson Kelly and I read it has Hot Pickups. what exactly are Hot Pickups?
Ive been playing for 2-3 years, i can play fine, i just dont know the parts and how to judge them :S

Hot pickups just means that they are voice to be very loud. For example my main guitar has quiet Seymour Duncans but my main Strat has very loud Dimarzios and there is a huge volume difference from my amps just from switching guitars.

not true indaqdnm. hot means it has more bite, and (heat) and sometimes power comes with it. hot is a sound not a volume.
randyrhoadstheking 4 years ago 2
Who told you that? I got my answer from Seymour Duncan.
indagdnm 4 years ago
Wrong. "Hot", in this context, simply means "more output".
jaklyons 3 years ago
I thought that hot meant the pickups were wound more thus making it sound crisper more susceptable to higher tones

Just a touch of reverb, and a hint of delay to add a bit of a trail
reverb is a Holy Grail, and delay is a Deluxe memory man.
tri99erjay 4 years ago
Sounds really great. Do you have some delay or reverb on there as well?
novassault 4 years ago
sounds good...is that from a clean amp/channel?...how does it do with humbuckers and a high-gain channel/amp?

The Seymour Duncan Dimebucker is a really nice but loud pickup.
indagdnm 4 years ago
