you really dont need all the mods you have for a good 0-60 time, i have an 01GT aod, cai, tb/plenum, 255/45 supersport, when they were new i consistantly times anywhere from 5.1-5.5sec on a 80-90 degree day. ill post a vid up when i get a new phone or can borrow someones iphone etc.
@Quatermain98526 i never said it wasnt super charged but you were talking about modding the mustang so who said it couldnt be a turbocharged? he woukd win from a stop or roll cause from a stop he can floor it now that the injector is fixed and with awd he doesnt spin tires and from a roll it would be hard to beat cause it accels like crazy. im not hating on mustangs i have one myself i just am into making small engines beat big engines
This has a nearly identical 0-60 time as my 03 SSEi with just a partially gutted airbox and drop in K&N filter, I was expecting this car to be faster. Crazy that a big car with a little v6 is just as fast as this little car with a big v8. You need more mods!
@crashercarlton Any time I went WOT, whether it be from rest or a roll, I would always click O/D off just as a safety precaution since the O/D band is so weak on these cars.
@Quatermain98526 lol. First off they look like shit. Second off they sound awful until you take off the stupid y-pipe and go with an x-pipe. And third they are one the most uncomfortable cars I've ever ridden in. I beat a 01 Z28 and was not impressed at all with the performance of the "almighty" LS1. Sure they respond better to bolt-ons, but I will still take a Mustang over one anyday. But this car is now for sale...I now drive a 2009 Mazda 6.
@coolguy3432 Beat an '01 Z28 in your Mustang GT? I highly highly doubt that. Only excuse would be if it was an M6 and couldn't shift very well. The LS1 produces 350HP compared to the GT's 260HP. There is no competition there at all.
@Quatermain98526 I wasn't stock. And he was other than Flows. It was a A4 and we went from a 20 roll and I beat him until about 105 or so when he started creeping up on me and I let off. He was impressed by my car as well. All I had done at the time was intake, tuner, lowering kit, heavy staggered rims, a shift kit, and exhaust from manifolds back.
@coolguy3432 What year was the Camaro? Ever been to the drag strip? My car's at 13.57 and it's an A4. Not too impressive of numbers, but I'm still pretty pleased with them.
@DJSlurp1200 My '01 Z28 ran a 13.57 my first time out to the strip, ever. I can probably get it to 13.4 at least. But the 2v 4.6 GT's are slow. 1/4 mile in 14.0 at best? Come on.
@Quatermain98526 It's been proven that with a GOOD driver a stock 2v 4.6 5spd "coupe" can run a 13.8-13.9. The biggest problem is the first 60ft. now slap in some 4.10 rear gear's if not some 4.30's (it is a 4spd), 3800rpm stall converter, a good tune, Drag radials and a 100 shot of nitrous and that same auto 2v gt will be running in the 12's easily. All I'm saying is that mustangs are fun to drive. They do have alot of potential though if done right.
@Quatermain98526 My cousin has a 4 cylinder Mitsubishi evo lancer 10 that runs low 12's 1/4 mile when he had a fuel injector that was stuck open and couldnt floor it from start and still was beating a V8 firebird
@coolguy3432 Also...who buys a muscle car for the ride quality? You want a soft riding car buy a prius or a camry, or some "touring" car, not a performance/muscle car.
hmmm Im curious, I have a 2001 Mustang gt convertible automatic, and just this morning I took it for a 0-90 run on the highway and my gt shifts at (in my estimated guess) 6200 rpms, is there like different gears or something. And my car is compleatly stock besides SLP Loudmouths.
Hey I have been thinking about buying an auto mustang gt and I was wondering how the transmission is. Is it sluggish? reliable? and do you have a 4 spd?
@jmartr34 Well stock it is pretty sluggish I wont lie. But get a nice tuner like SCT or diablosport and a shift kit, and it shifts nice and firm and relatively quick. Yes it is very reliable, the only two major weak points is the valve body(which can be fixed with a j-mod or a shift kit) and the overdrive band. Mine has over 80k miles and mine is holding up just as good as a new one. And yes, Ford didnt start using 5 speed autos in the mustang until 2005.
@DjHeRb66 90% of people that care anything about cars, care about the sound. And for the record I smoked plenty of Maxi-pads and Altima SE-R's. Nice cars though.
@DjHeRb66 I care a lot about the sound my car makes, Maybe thats because a have a 4.6l V8 rumbling under my hood. If i had a maxima with a V6 i would'nt care about sound either i guess.
The guy who said it's slow doesn't have a clue. The stock torque converter of the 4R70W has a maximum stall speed of about 2,700 RPM. That would allow you a good 2,000 RPM off of the foot brake before you start to spin the tires, and would cut down a lot on converter lag. I'd bet you could pull a 5.8 or better with your new Transgo shift kit, launching off of the foot brake.
thank you for actually knowing what you are talking about lol, and yeah its definitely picked up a bit with the shift kit and swapping over to the 93 octane predator tune, along with the 18x10 tires in the back ive recently gotten. ill post a new vid when i get the chance.
@coolguy3432 Like the vid. The torque converter on my daily driven GT lags pretty badly, but a good kick from a stop isn't impossible. A shift kit and stall converter in addition to tires will easily land you in the mid-5 second zero to sixty times. If you do gears, most recommend 3.90's or 4.10's for an automatic.
@GL3NE yeah it does lag pretty bad. and I have a buddy with an 01 GT automatic and he has 3.73's and it gets up and goes as it is, so I can't imagine with the 4.10's. my only hesitation for gears is the mpg.
actually i did have a flash tuner on this run. i just had the diablosport set on 87 octane mode. but now ive got it running in 93 octane predator mode and i installed a transgo shift kit. ill put up a new vid whenever i get the chance
not a fan of the t56. even tho i know its a proven tranny thats can handle a lot of power. i like the tr3650. but i like having an automatic. and since when has a 0-60 time of just over 6 seconds in a daily driver slow? definitely beats the normal civic and corolla commuter cars i typically see driven daily. and i couldve gotten a bit more out of it if i had gone off the foot brake
