yeah, let's all go to a planet and throw portable food, water, energy, and fuel processing plants into our nearest sun, and everybody make a house out of a stick or summat. Fucking balls ending.
Film and TV show endings 99/100 really piss me off. I thought the ending to BSG was superb!
I have to say well done to the creators of the show for limiting the entire programme to just 4 series. tOO often American TV shows are ruined as they are just squeezed and dragged out to make as much money as possible.
What else I loved was the grittiness of it. Another thing American TV does is polish their shows.
So American writes! MORE GRIT! LESS SERIES (SEASONS) will make this man happy :)
How does Galactica survive ramming the colony at flank speed yet Pegasus, the newer, presumably hardier battlestar, destroys herself ramming a single basestar? I'm not complaining or anything, just curious.
@BlackKnightLegion They fused the ship with organic cylon technology and while it failed on a certain level, after they connected Anders (Longshot) to the ship, he managed to keep it together (was capable of distributing, nullifying or "redirecting" the incoming shots (cylon-based technology).
"My best friend was murdered by a government conspiracy to suppress public knowledge of America's cooperation with extraterrestrials and experimentation with alien technology—but to answer your question, I'm looking forward to the prom..."
Galactica, Eternal (still around), Permetheus (with Eternal), Nova (sister, still around) and Pegasus are the best. Also bless the Base Star that defected, bravely fighting off the Cylons till near destruction before escaping. Bless No.6!!!!
@tenthousandhairs some of the humanoid cylons had different opinion on certain things (religion, ultimate goal, etc), and decided to team up with the humans so they could reach their destination together and stop the ongoing war between the two race. The cylons who remained enemies of the humans needed to be stopped once and for all, so the new alliance decided to hit their enemy at its core base (Colony).
ey guys, i just thought of something. Actually, it was the Pegasus that had to survive. it was bigger, more advanced, it had more and better weapons and better hull. so yeah, actually Pegasus should have survived the ordeal while Galactica should have gone LEROOOOY and went suicide on those basestars.
@tfl1997 Galactica was infused with cylon tech, don't forget that. It can be that once the ship hit the basestar, the cylon part of the ship prevented further explosions coming from the basestar.
@HelmutVillam well pegasus hammered that basestar after building up some serious momentum, galactica only started her engines at point blank range, we see that she struggled a bit to actually breach the colony's hull at first.
@sapzapgr umm, you DO know that there's a BSG game now as well, right? I can tell u, it's fun as hell and there's been some badass space battles so far! I've been through 3 of em so far, longest space battle i been in lasted for about 4 or 5 days XD
I will never understand the hatred for the finale, it was a pefect ending for this series, with the possible exception of Starbuck's finale. Deus ex machina doesn't really apply here. "God", or something that is perceived as a divinity was always a key element of the show, even the original series (ship of lights). It wasn't a lazy plot device, it was the core of the story. You know what's lazy? Warp cores, phase inducers and other technobabble used to "explain" how stuff gets done.
@TheLastBrainLeft I think they butchered the two earths thing or whatever. They don't explain at all how there can be two earths with the same continents, heck even showing them walking around on Earth 1 on what looks eerily similar to New York City. Starbuck found Saturn on her way to earth 1, and when Boomer stole Hera she jumps next to what is obviously Jupiter. Then they find another earth with the geographical features... It should have ended with the nuked earth and us being cylons
@DynamicoS21 just as the creation of Cylons, their rebellion and their return, the creation of the galaxies, even the universe itself has happened before and will happen again, just like they always say in the series.
Which means, that the (currently known as original) Earth (the one in the finale which is the one we're currently on, talking each other 150 000 years later) was created sometime in the faraway past, then it was created again (nuked Earth), and again...
@renthicya ...cont. - In BSG, we could hear the tales of the last two Earth (ours and the nuked one).
"It should have ended with the nuked earth and us being cylons" Technically, your second wish came true, because the 12 colonies were half cylons as well (happened before, 4500years before they reinvented the 'machines', and these half cylons (believing their complete humans) and the cylons they have created are on our finale Earth got together, creating our current civilization.
@DynamicoS21 They never showed continents or any familiar/recognizable "our" Earth features on the nuked "Earth1" beneath the cloud layers, whereas you can clearly see the African continent on this "2nd" Earth (our Earth). Two different but very similar planets, perhaps two very similar solar systems.
@Xonx68 Yes they did. Watch the series again and you'll see North America and Cuba very recognizable on "nuked earth". I believe they just decided to go in a different direction while filming and fucked up the ending.
@FleetAdmiralDouglas I am willing to bet that as the years went by, any technology left over would have been canibalized and consumed to the point that it would be unrecognizable today. A raptor without fuel is nothing but a pile of junk.
Just started watching BSG for the first time, think im going to stop after season 2, never going to watch the last season thats for sure, this ep was just beyond bad.
Did the cylons buy those guns of wildly coyote? So silly lmao
Shows you how much of a beast the Galactica is... Don't it. She took the hits and shrugged them off. that old girl still had it. she was fighting for her crew and her family and to those who say a ship has no soul. I say FRACK YOU!!! Remember her with honor and dignity because when all hope seemed lost she was there, and she did her job for 30+ YEARS before the end came.
@KazzoKiller3890 There was a Cylon Civil war with a good cylon side and a evil Cylon side, the good ones were Civil Cylons, the evil ones were Assault Cylons
@darkz1820 You didn't watch the series, right? You shouldn't watch this videos here and i will not answer your question. It's like I'm telling you the end of a really great story. If this video looks interesting for you: WATCH THE SERIES! Battlestar Galactica is the best i've ever seen in TV.
I'm a Star Wars fan, but since BSG, I just can't take SW capital ships very seriously. The problem lies with the bridge: In BSG, you have to chew through TONS of armor&other spaces to get to the command center; it lies so deep in the ship. In SW, there is only a thin sheet of 'transparisteel' between the bridge and space. Sure, they have powerful shields; but something almost ALWAYS goes wrong with them; leaving the command center vulnerable!
Actually, I think that [1] you should distinct between Bridge (primarly for navigation) and CIC (Combat Information Center) [2] Star Wars - and Star Trek for that matter - had different weapons, and on numerous ocassions informed, that after total loss of shields and structural integrity forcefields, even relatively remote detonation of e.g. photon torpedo vaporizes the ship. Also - fault of strong armour is that you *CAN'T* fix it.
@AnteyPL Star Destroyers have armor too. And their bridges also function as CIC. Plus, it’s where you find the commander of the ship or admiral of the fleet during a battle. It’s inevitable to suffer damage during combat, and Galactica took many hits during the course of the series. Sure, it’s difficult to repair armor. But I’d guess it would be even harder to repair a destroyed sublight engine or a shot-up FTL. It was her armor that kept Galactica from suffering such deeper, vital wounds.
I entirely agree - it's just another design paradigm, and, actually, without shields of "force field type", actually, any manned, long endurance deep space vessel should be heavily cladded with strong and thick armour. To protect crew not only from hostile weapons fire but also space radiation, micro/macro meteors and other space phenomena.
Another case it, that you can see star-trek like power paradigm in modern today's ship design. Single power plant provides electric power, that can be routed to one system at expense of another, including main propulsion. That's the way QM2 or french submarines are built and many other vessels follow / will follow (e.g. DDX). It's just anti-matter for warp core and plasma conduits vs. turbo generators and copper wiring for carrying the current...
Star-Trek type of ship can re-route power from eg. from propulsion to shields and vice versa. To main deflector, to weapons... at will.
B-5, BSG type designs (well, most of them) CAN'T beef up engines or sensor or weapons at expense of shields or propulsion or protection (armour in this case). Other transfers are very limited.
Again - difference in design paradigm, resulting form available technology (no shields in BSG universe).
Finally, take note: when Galactica's structural integrity has been ultimately compromised, ship was total loss despite actually having fuel and working jump drive. ST type vessel still could be patched up to some extent on it's own. BSG/B-5 could not.
Again - difference in paradigm. Starfleet ships had to be as independent, self-sustainable and versatile and had better technology. Battlestars were built for combat, and as fighter and weapons platform.
liked up to last 2mins seroius edit keep orginal if your posting for the full 9min plus please but it was good like I rember when Isaw last episode :(
For the record, to explain what I wrote...before anyone responds to me whining or ranting that I favor either the classic BSG or the newer version, I happen to appreciate both of them for what they had. I just would not be surprised if someone comes along and decides to try and change it again.
Good show (although I hated Tigh becoming one of the final 5). The problem with series 4 is you can clearly see teh show was going for 5 series then got cancelled by syfy (worst channel ever) as all the story lines got so rushed and crambed in.
@MrIlovegamez Yea but you can tell in the first half of season 4 that it was intended to be a season longer as they opened up several new storylines then never finished them (like Baltars group getting weapons to police areas in galactica). I wouldn't have wanted it to go on for many more seasons but I hounestly just found the second half of season 4 to feel very very rushed. Otherwise it was a great show (appart from Tigh becoming a cylon lol).
Could someone explain what is going on here? From what I see, the Galactica goes right in front of all the weapons on that station/ship thing, and the Cylons are helping them
I wanted them to land Galactica on the far side of the moon and fill it with all of their literature, art, music, and history. With great detail of the last several years. So that some day their decedents could learn where they came from, and what their ancestors did in order for them to have lived. Also, so not to repeat the mistakes of the past.
One thing I never understand in those sci-fi and military shows. How come the hot shot pilots get put with the grunts during a ground assault?I mean,they are pilots!Training them cost millions.They are a priceless asset,& better off being put behind the stick of a fighter where they will do more good.Been in the military,i know that pilots get some rifle training(incase of dire situations) but they sure as frak arent pulled from flight duty to take the charge of infantry assaults.
Is it just me or is there an edit @ 1:28? I recall that after Sam was "plugged in" there was a shot of one of the Cylon Hybrids with an almost "orgasmic" face (presumably because of Sam's presence in their hive mind) before the Colony's weapons went off-line. Off to my DVDs I shall check...
"Tranquility Base here, the Eagle has landed. I am coming down the ladder now... that's one small step for a man, one giant leap for - uh Houston, are you getting this?"
Camera pans up, thousands of Cylon basestars jump in. Roll credits.
it would be awsome if the macross quarter suddenly defolded and kicked the crap out of the cylums with it's macross canon and then a bunch of seeking misslies poped out of nowhere and suddenly somebody screams totsugeki love heart to!!!
Amazing battle plan...we'll stand there defenseless for over a minute, then after we're done getting pelted with evrything except rocks, we'll just smash her right into the Resurection Ship. Bravo, Admiral Adama....
@kloze12 an old warhorse like the Galactica deserves to go out taking as many frakking Cylons with her as possible. Next best thing is a march towards destiny with as much honor as possible.
@kloze12 I agree with you the ending of the series the way the creators did was stupid throwing away their tech with the Cylon threat still out there it wouldn't take much for the remaining Cylons to find the route the Galactica took following the attack on their colony if you think about it realistically! But the show writers chose the coward way out of ending the series the way they did! Feel good crap?! Didn't the original series caution that as being dumb prior the Cylons next attack!
@blameist The whole point was that the cycle of violence was broken. You also have to account for a total loss of technical knowledge that was required to shoe-horn this particular story into known human history on Earth. The old series wants you to believe Earth was once part of a vast, technologically advanced civilization that came from outer space, despite all that evidence the human race clearly originated on this planet.
Ummm that wasn't the end... the end was something stupid about god and religion... maybe some stupid americans dig that, but people with reason and logic don't. the end fucked up the whole series and will have a lasting bad taste in our mouth, thanks writers!
@player1vladimir Go to HULU and watch "War of the Gods" from the original series parts 1 and 2. Everything will be made clear. Everything. (Well, there will still be a few gaps, but you can easily fill those in)
aprox. 0:50 "can't take much of this" My retarded replys would be 1, Yaa think? or 2, No Shit!!! Great series,well writen and well acted. Of course inconsistencies can be found, but this is fiction. Some people need to lighten up. The 'mood' in this series was a bit darker then in the first series but to some extent both series brought up issues that where in the spotlight at the time. Example BSG1 the cold war,,BSG 2 druges,suicide bombing and others,
@fixdeluxe1 If you have seen the whole of series 4.0 and 4.5 you would understand that. If you havn't you just spoiled the ending for yourself, which is a shame on such a great series.
(AFAIR)That was rebel centurions, that defected on single basestar after they wanted to cut out they will, and make them mindless drones witch they arent.
The dumbest ending ever....you have a band of Hippie Toaster Cylons running around in their own base ship and will be that much more advanced than us if they decide to go human hunting again. Plus if they kept the ships it would be a good foil to explain the emergence of all of the mythological pantheons the world over. I heard they were going to shoot a scene of the Moon landing where they found pieces of the Galactica would have been awesome...and a nice "and so it begins anew"
yeah, let's all go to a planet and throw portable food, water, energy, and fuel processing plants into our nearest sun, and everybody make a house out of a stick or summat. Fucking balls ending.

DeathOnSernpidal 5 months ago
@DeathOnSernpidal
AnteyPL 5 months ago
@DeathOnSernpidal
AnteyPL 5 months ago
@DeathOnSernpidal
AnteyPL 5 months ago
@DeathOnSernpidal

TheVargr 8 months ago
@TheVargr I don't think it got cancelled they just choose to go out on top
eaglesguy2036 7 months ago
@TheVargr wrong see they were smart and ended it before it got like Star trek (no offense)
MrIlovegamez 7 months ago
@MrIlovegamez Yea but you can tell in the first half of season 4 that it was intended to be a season longer as they opened up several new storylines then never finished them (like Baltars group getting weapons to police areas in galactica). I wouldn't have wanted it to go on for many more seasons but I hounestly just found the second half of season 4 to feel very very rushed. Otherwise it was a great show (appart from Tigh becoming a cylon lol).

Austindude3954 9 months ago
Could someone explain what is going on here? From what I see, the Galactica goes right in front of all the weapons on that station/ship thing, and the Cylons are helping them

@Austindude3954
I'm guessing you haven't watched any of the final series? Without spoiling anything, you're right.

SuperBennettboy 9 months ago
I wanted them to land Galactica on the far side of the moon and fill it with all of their literature, art, music, and history. With great detail of the last several years. So that some day their decedents could learn where they came from, and what their ancestors did in order for them to have lived. Also, so not to repeat the mistakes of the past.
ronin241703 9 months ago
One thing I never understand in those sci-fi and military shows. How come the hot shot pilots get put with the grunts during a ground assault?I mean,they are pilots!Training them cost millions.They are a priceless asset,& better off being put behind the stick of a fighter where they will do more good.Been in the military,i know that pilots get some rifle training(incase of dire situations) but they sure as frak arent pulled from flight duty to take the charge of infantry assaults.
TCoops 9 months ago
@TCoops Galactica has more pilots then she has fighters. They can't put them in a fighter if there are not enough fighters.

Are those cylons converted to help the humans?
ufsantaris555 9 months ago
@ufsantaris555 Cylons had a civil war, they were split with the decisions they wanted to make. Some cylons refuged with the humans.
jaggedspikerespawn 9 months ago
The way I was expecting it to end:
150,000 YEARS LATER:
"Tranquility Base here, the Eagle has landed. I am coming down the ladder now... that's one small step for a man, one giant leap for - uh Houston, are you getting this?"
Camera pans up, thousands of Cylon basestars jump in. Roll credits.

Together with the death of the pegasus this is the BEST way to die for a ship.
I actually didn't want them to fly her into the sun, rather had them rebuild her and anchor her on the moon......
Best end ever to a SciFi serie.

@kloze12 yeah i agree, there will be nothing else like this show if you ask me.
robotcow28 11 months ago
@kloze12 an old warhorse like the Galactica deserves to go out taking as many frakking Cylons with her as possible. Next best thing is a march towards destiny with as much honor as possible.

@kloze12
Exactly - make a "time capsule" on Dark Side of the moon...
AnteyPL 5 months ago
@kloze12 So you didnt like that too! How dare they to let her Fly into the Sun! All with the Colonial Athem!
They should rapair her Complete and hide her behind the Moon! Like you said!
The Idea to let Adama Fly a MK 2 Viper for the last time was Fantastic!
Lee78072 4 months ago
@kloze12 I agree with you the ending of the series the way the creators did was stupid throwing away their tech with the Cylon threat still out there it wouldn't take much for the remaining Cylons to find the route the Galactica took following the attack on their colony if you think about it realistically! But the show writers chose the coward way out of ending the series the way they did! Feel good crap?! Didn't the original series caution that as being dumb prior the Cylons next attack!
blameist 3 months ago
@blameist The whole point was that the cycle of violence was broken. You also have to account for a total loss of technical knowledge that was required to shoe-horn this particular story into known human history on Earth. The old series wants you to believe Earth was once part of a vast, technologically advanced civilization that came from outer space, despite all that evidence the human race clearly originated on this planet.

So sad when they actually drop their ships and amalgamate back into a primitive society.Really pissed me off.
fixdeluxe1 1 year ago
@fixdeluxe1
