The verse about the candle and the chopper were not part of the original. The original second verse was about more churches: something about pancakes and fritters say the bells of St Peters. Cannot remember all the second verse. And by the way, the original title was Noranges and Lemons, not Oranges and Lemons. The fruits that we now call oranges were previousely called noranges.

The original version never had the chop off your head bit , it was added later when children got all morbid . It was likely added when the bells were ringing during the proccesion from Newgate prison to the gallows at Tyburn.

This is aweful!  It seems that the people who recorded this song were completely ignorant to the fact that this nursery rhyme is talking about the bells that ring for those who were about to be exectued in the various boroughs of London. - Hence the ' Chop of your head bit ' that has been tactfully left out at the end. Who would dare play this tat to their child? - Sing them the real thing with come conviction, understanding and sensitity the the origins of the story at least!
