  • nerd anthem

  • Testimony to the power of YouTUbe.

  • 255 dislikes. That means 255 people who don't understand calculus somehow found this video.

  • Derivatives are for children. Integrals, the next frontier.

  • its derivatize

  • I'm deriving right now...

  • since when does an asian have problems with derivations ?;)

  • How gullible I was back then to think that Calculus was the most difficult class I've encountered. Then came Assembly Language. I wish back for Calculus now.

  • the video is quite unrealistic.

why should the asian NOT know the answer?

  • I just sat a maths exam, this song was in my head. I think I did really well, there was differentiation in it too :D

  • This is youtube gold.

  • This reminds me of this rule my AP teacher told me about calc. When in doubt: DERIVE YOUR HEART OUT.

  • tomorrow morning I have a difficult phys final about electricity, magnetism, electromagnetic waves etc. though my physics is not easy as this, watching the vid kinda lifts my mood :D

  • @AlexDeLargeDevotchka so how did it go? :P

  • I would've had someone play as a teacher and come in and say something like "Get back to work" but that's just me. but yea, fucking hilarious vid, bro!

  • just use the power rule! XD

  • This is awesome! I remember my Calculus BC teacher playing this in class the day before the AP exam. Everyone in the class passed it:) Thanks for the 5, Mr. V!

  • ah i love these maths songs lol

  • Wtf, Asians don't struggle in calculus!

  • All of this calculus is deriving me crazy!

  • ... don't drink and derive

  • 252 people failed their High School Math

  • This video always makes me smile when I'm doing MIT level physics problems.

  • What is the numa numa guy doing in the background

  • I took this test yesterday. Got a 95. Success.

  • That guy who just gets up and dances in the background is the shiz

  • I remember watching this during calculus class in 2008.

  • HAHA hes hot.... lol jks

  • This is fucking hot.

  • I found this video a couple of years ago while I was taking Algebra 2. Back then, I just watched and laughed at how nerdy it is. But now that I'm taking Calculus, I ACTUALLY GET IT. AND IT"S AWESOME. XD

  • i'm already having such a hard time in algebra 2. imagine in calculus LOLOLOL.

i like the fx formula but i have to be so careful cuhs i suck that bad HAHHAHA.

  • Moral of the story: When in doubt, pull out the book and cheat.

  • Why my homework assignment to watch this video?

  • Nice video....

  • This is addicting

  • 0:43 ^^

  • 2:33 Nothing to do here

  • ... and this is how i fail my maths test.

  • wow "calc and yellow" was like a hundred times better than this!

  • lol at the demotivational poster in the background. wish i could read it.

  • wow "calc and yellow" was so much better :P

  • Was that test open book? 0:47

  • dude if u need calculus help go watch "calc and yellow" its just as good if not better!

  • i need tutoring lol

  • hahahaha, my sister showed me this years ago, and i was like.... wow. then we learned this in calculus over the last bit and i came back and watched this. amazing that it all makes sense now :P the fact that i get this at 16 is sorta sad though... haha, nerd power!

  • lmfao

  • dynamite dance moves :L

  • Baby, you're sin²θ and I'm cos²θ, together we are 1.

  • @Edge0fPain LOL this made me laugh

  • I will differentiate would have been more appropriate. Either that or you could have made it about deriving an equation of motion or something. Poor show.

  • Comment removed

  • 244 PERSONS MUST HAVE A MISERABLE LIFE

  • This is amazing! 244 people don't know what a derivative is.

  • THIS IS HILARIOUS <3

  • full of win.

  • :|

  • differentiate, not derive

    F- get back to class

  • @jackisterrible

He could be talking about deriving the differential. Yeah, think about that O.o

  • @Edge0fPain you differentiate and get the derivative lol the differential is a different quantity.

  • @floopsie666

    Blame Windows 98.

  • @jackisterrible You differentiate and then find the derivative. It is generally assumed by intelligent people that he already has differentiated

  • @jackisterrible Clearly you have never heard of the other name for it: The Derivative.

  • @mandevillage Derivative is a noun. The verb which means to take the derivative is differentiate, not derive.

    F- get back to class.

  • @jackisterrible Your semantics are still incorrect. Differentiating gives you a new expression, thus you have DERIVED.

  • @jackisterrible haha i tell my friend this ALL the time and he just refuses to listen because "derive" sounds better. same thing here..."i will differentiate" does not sound half as good.

  • @iasoaita don't even get me started. the only thing worse than 'derive' is the phantom 'r' in integral.

  • @iasoaita

Well, technically the person in the video IS deriving a function for velocity. Differentiation is a valid method for deriving equations.

  • @jackisterrible It's not as catchy that way though :/

  • @jackisterrible

Poetic license, man, poetic license. Get back to a well-rounded education. ;-)

  • @jackisterrible

    "4. (Mathematics)

    a. the process of deducing a mathematical theorem, formula, etc., as a necessary consequence of a set of accepted statements

    b. this sequence of statements

    c. the operation of finding a derivative"

    from The Free Dictionary

    ... learn alternate terminology

  • @jackisterrible i think he means to say derivative with is the same as differentiate.

  • @jackisterrible actually isnt it that the derivative the same as differentiation??lol

  • cute haha. This would have come in handy back in high school.

  • These people are undoubtedly fleeing from studying to their exams...

  • I dance in class all the time.

  • This is the most awesome video created!!!!!! =)

  • Bahahaha, dis reminds me of myself in maths... Except i still dont find the answer :p

  • geeks are hot!

  • Then, It would be fun if they made a video about integration! :]

  • Comment removed

  • This video is all about finding the derivative yet at 2:45 you have an integral sign.

  • @Avatar230594 it's a funny song you ass hole

  • @ShammyLadoo I know, I'm just trolling

  • HAHAHA! This is me in physics class!

  • lmao i can see Teacher thinking when he walks in " I hope a miracle happens and these guys get laid"

  • Baby, it's like your Sin^2θ and I'm Cos^2θ, together we are 1.

  • Comment removed

  • "To problems just like this"

    > page is full of integrals

  • K I'm sorry but the verb for taking the derivative is "to differentiate"...

    de·rive/diˈrīv/

Verb: Obtain something from (a specified source). Base a concept on a logical extension or modification of (another concept).

  • This is so dumb, why do I keep watching this...

  • Where's the Integration song?

  • @porkypine1888 agreed.....i feel as if derivatives get all the attention....how must integration feel :P

  • i got really stuck on a physic question involving velocity and acceleration, watched this, and got the right answer!

  • imagine these guys showing this to their kids in 30 years.

  • my calc teacher showed this to us today :D

    funny

  • 237 people are f'''(t)!

  • what scool is that?

  • This video came up to my mind when I took the test. And it didn't go away!

  • My AB/BC teacher showed this to us. :D

  • i can't look into a text during a test. fake and gay.

  • Like this comment if your physics teacher showed this video to you in class.

  • Great music,realy awesome.

    4ever derive

  • LOOOOOOOOOL

  • WILD NERDS

  • @MindofMatthew

How do you get a picture of yourself on the the calculator? Also, How do you make the Calculator appear really big in the background as you are dancing?

  • this video gave me a boner love you guy with the afro

  • you're allowed to use a textbook during a test? haha

  • Disco Stu in the background!!!

  • rofl

  • ap phys teacher showed us this in class haha

  • I wish that my tests were like this lol! awesome video!!!

  • my favorite math/science song ever lol

  • The girl has same kind of calculator as I do :DDD

  • lol @ the white girl just turning and looking at them. LMAO

  • I can derive meaning from this song now that I understand calculus.

  • sigh our math teacher actually showed us this in class..

  • @woolensheep192 mine too

  • *flip through text book*

    *text book elongates*

    NOPE SLOPE

  • wow, just wow.

    I will derive! hahaha

  • I had the same calculator :D. but now it's all about Ti-nspire CAS.

  • If only i could take a test with my textbook out.

  • every time I get into some difficulty in math, I think back to this song. Saves me every time.

  • Great video!!!

  • The guy who dances has some wicked moves.

  • Thumbs up for smiley face at 1:05

  • too much funny

  • That is by far the the most hilarious mathematical video on YouTube!

By the way, have you heard of the new type of (discrete) derivativative from 2010? You should try and search it on YouTube: "Eureka! a new approach to calculus". This video depicts a simple kind of derivative.

  • @johng904 that's the same comment that you put on Calculus Rhapsody xD

  • @johng904 all derivatives are simple

  • @johng904

    I can't find that video. :/

  • whoa you get the actual curve drawing calculator? lucky

  • you wouldn't have these problems if you had the OP TI-89

  • @xmaams not likely one still needs to understand the principles to apply them

  • -3x^3 +27 x^2 + 8x + 12.

    -9x^2 +54x + 8 is your equation for velocity.

solve it for 0 and then sub it back into equation will find you the max speed. too easy ;)

  • genius!

  • LooooL thumbs up

  • LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

    But I'll integrate.

  • This is brilliant! A win!

  • That's how I act during tests :P

  • @IronAsclepius I know right? I'm sitting there going what the hell should I do, and then I have to remember everything in a musical rhythm.

  • how do you copy people for making the movie??

  • I got an AB score of 5!

  • fake.... asians dont struggle with calculus

  • @Dalbeeeeeee1 maybe that asian doesnt follow the "one of the smart ones" stero type.

  • @DigimonTamerfreak thank you for that incredibly brilliant insight

  • @Dalbeeeeeee1 Even if that's true, can you imagine anyone BUT an asian making a song like this?

  • @Dalbeeeeeee1 In what way, shape, or form does that guy even remotely resemble one of asian ancestry? Because he's skinny with dark hair?

  • The piano needs tuning.... great song!

  • loved it ^^

  • one of the most hilarious videos i've ever seen

  • lolz... can mathematics be anymore gay than this? XD

    cool parody!

  • @LuciferAmadeus Can you be any more stupid than this? Seriously, you should kill yourself. xdDdXDXXDdddXXDdDDXxddxXXdXD - stop.

  • @yannbane lolz. wassup with the butthurt comment. I'm complimenting the vid. XD lolz.

  • 231 people do dumb maths

  • We watched this in class. Yep, my school's cooler than yours.

  • best maths song ever by far!

  • This video is awesome !! The best math parody of a song :) I like the profesionnal quality of it.

  • Ha. The music sounds like some Slavic folk song.

  • @alwaysriteneverwrong I'd say it sounds a lot more like I Will Survive.

  • After all the crappy math songs on youtube...finally one that i can hit like on!

  • And I thought I was a geek!

  • I had the same pencil few years about 4 years ago.

  • 228 people failed precalc... just sayin'

  • lol check out this Calculus parody its called "Tonight I'm deriving You"

  • LOL LOL LOL Best song evar! hahaha

  • I love it.

  • I know it makes a nice rhyme, but in general deriving isn't the same as finding the derivative (differentiating). Still, any song on a mathematical theme is a song worth having.

  • you guys are my heroes :D x

  • Thank you very mutch. My exam is tomorrow and I can't stop thinking "I Will deriiiiiiiive".

  • @anaislabar Good luck

  • Thanks really helped the class exam on monday

  • xaxaxaxa kakav debilizam.
