  • Actually the z6 head and a y8 manifold would make his D15 much better than just a D15b bro...the heads aren't better, the z6 and y8 head are a tad better because they are newer and are made for an engine a tenth of a liter bigger meaning more air flow inside the head.

  • D15b is jdm it has 128hp and is the exact same head as a z6 but with a more agressive cam gear.

    And my NA built d15b is faster than that..

  • @dixonfrank if your D15b has the 3 stage vtec(2 solenoids) then you should keep that. They come with the ek3's. i dont kno wat else they come in but thats wat mine comes in and they run better than the d16's.

  • if you have a proper clutch, you can dump the rpms @ 4000 and get a better start. I should know, was dumping at 2k and ran 16.8, dumped at 2.5k ran 16.5, 3k I ran 16.2, and 4k i ran 15.9 on a stock d16z6 1/4 mile. honda's are high rev engines, you can dump them @ higher rpm then muscle cars (2-3k rpm on mustangs for example, low, but run great times, honda's are made different, so dump higher). I dumped at 5k and i ran 16's again, so 4k is the hot spot in my personal experience.

  • I have a 90 Civic STD Hatchback with a D15B...1 I think? But 4 speed manual. The most sluggish motor I've ever operated! But it's soooooo dependable. If you have a D15 don't boost it. Take what you have for granted. A gas SAVER. if you want more B series is the way to go.

  • @crash5389 JDM D15B VTEC motors are sick. I have one in a EG pushing just 6.5 lbs of boost off a 14b. You'll hit 200whp in a D15B on 8 lbs when a Z6 will take 10 or 11 lbs. D15B basically has a stock stage 1 cam, that's the only difference, really. B series cost enough to switch to it as it does to boost a D series!

  • Nice d15b man , and this is coming from a chevy guy that races hondas. I own a 2ng gen h22 crx that used to run a d15b and also a 99 ss camaro. Just had to say I spent 20grand on my camaro and 5 to get a crx pulling 11's. I love all cars but if your going to hate on others atleast have videos to back your self up otherwise your just another bullshitter on the net welcome to you tube.

  • ebay kit wont last, and yes you can run it on low boost, but you would make the same power and spend the same amount of money on a good n/a setup and you wont have a busted turbo kit to worry about

  • you engine has a compression ratio of 9.2 stock, thats good for a low boost set up,youll have to do a lot of work in the ecu tuning area and mayde lower your vtec point if you want a good powercurve, d series engines are known to handle up to 220hp in theory due to their very thin rods, i have seen good setups pushing more, but thats not that reliable, i am guessing you could go up to 170whp with no real problems

  • well depends how quickly you want to blow them, i ran 0.6bar built blocks can handle around 1bar i'd imagine. powerwise this is a guess as i never got it dyno'd guesstimate @ 170whp.

  • @dzire86 lmfao u got it dyno'd and you dont know how much it made? where did u get it dyno'd? and stock block can handle 14psi say it that way cause im pretty sure he doesnt know what you mean by 1bar or he wouldnt be asking...and it will easily make 200whp stock internals just good injectors 750cc and a good tuner :D

  • ok i had a sohc vtec (1.6 liter )turbo before i ran 15psi on forged rods and pistons no problem. you just gotta tune it right...i tuned mine using a chrome chip. but before i built the bottom end it ran 8psi for a year never had any problems out it, and it was daily driven but once again i still had it tuned right. sohc blocks can handle more than people think...its just that most of the time people dont build them right.

  • a completly stock d15 can handle about 6 psi without any trouble internally.

    depending on which model car u have as far as dx,ex,del what not. it will give u roughly about 180 to 190 hp. if u have the ex it will be about 200. stock ex hp is 127hp and dx is about 106-110. turbo at 6 psi should give u about a 80 to 90 horsepower gain. depending on your tune, and turbo setup

  • yeah sohcs been available for a longgg time! d15b is a jdm motor indeed, this is a 1993 reg plate car. due to crappy road tyres it does spin, gears 1 and 2 are virtually non existent from a proper hard launch.

  • stock internals, its a greddy td04h-15g kit, its running on a road tune map needs fine tuning, running safely at 6psi.

  • it's not an engine check light, its the catalyst sensor light, as i've got a straight through system with de-cat i have'nt got around to disconnecting the LED behind the dash.
