I liked this soundtrack and all, but something about it reminded me of the quieter parts of The Dark Knight score.

As much as I love Trent Reznor, this soundtrack doesn't impress me in any way. Daft Punk wasn't even nominated, and that soundtrack is incredible, and very appreciated. In addition, Hans Zimmer's sountrack for Inception was also good. But that's the Oscars for you.

@Prophet0a Are you joking... none of the above should have gotten the award. I voted for John Powell's score for Httyd. Granted all the scores you listed are extremely good, I'd have to say Httyd should have won both best animated film and score. Imo

how king speech did so well at the oscars is beyond me. the social network was so much better. the king's speech was a good movie no doubt. but this film is much more memorable. plus jesse eisenberg should have also beaten colin firth. eisenberg had to play down rather than play up like firth. playing up is easy. playing down is not

i love how the gentle downward piano tones give this piece a soothing tone, and then that deep bass comes in with the eerie synth in the back and suddenly, it's so very dark sounding. :D gives me chills everytime
