At the 2:41 mark all Wojo had to do was to flick the ball behind his back, blow past Turner & head straight for the free throw line, pull up for a jumper, then dump it to Brand (42) when Padgett left his man to help. Simple, but he didn't know how to do it. Kinda reminds me of Ronnie Lyons of Kentucky. Seems like Krzyzewski & Rupp both made the same personnel mistake.
I'll never forget that shot Mills made against Duke, and Padgett shooting lights out during the Stanford game...what a season. Memories I'll keep with me forever. I was in Middle school the last time we made it to the Final 4, and its been a long time coming for us to get back to where we once belonged. #8 will be so sweet, I can taste a bit of it already, but we still must make it past Kemba and UCONN. Cats are ready to go against either team from the other bracket! Lets go BIG BLUE NATION! #8!

However, only reason more teams don't do that is because it's prohibited by the SEC, so South Carolina cost their school money for doing that. VCU won by 10 but it wasn't even really that close. They straight kicked Kansas's ass. What a weird Final Four this is. No 1 or 2 seeds. I heard that of the more than 5 million people who filled out brackets on ESPN's website, only 2 people got this Final Four correct. Crazy.

They got revenge on Ole Miss, Alabama, Florida, and UNC for beating them in the regular season and got revenge on West Virginia for knocking them out of the tournament last year. Kentucky is on a mission. UConn will be facing a different Kentucky team than the one they saw in the Maui Invitational. As long as they contain Kemba Walker, they should win big. When he has a bad game, UConn loses.

I know a lot of Kentucky fans and every one of them has said that this game meant more to them then the eventual national title they won two games later.
Perhaps a good point but I'd hardly call the FF an anticlimax. The game UK had with Stanford was perhaps just as draining as this one and UK had to rally big time against Utah in the final game. Just a great tourney with some old guard teams (UK, Duke, UNC) and a fun mix of teams you don't see in the FF all that often like Stanford and Utah.

Odom and Cuttino Mobley, that was a really good, but crooked URI team. Jim Harrick was their coach after he got run out of UCLA and before he ran Georgia in to the ground. Odom came to URI after getting kicked out of UNLV for taken $5g's from a booster. The whole program was corrupt at that time.

Yep - UK fans love to hate Duke, but their coach is a class act. I remember once when they beat UK and one of their players started taunting that they were ahead he called him to the sideline and gave him a huge chewing out for acting like that. He was very complimentary UK after this Duke loss and also when they won in the previous meeting.
I was 14 when this game was on....I think my heart was bursting out of my cheast the whole game. I will always remeber Cameron Mills, Scott Padget, Jeff Shepard, Nazr Mohamed, and Mark Pope, and all the other guys from that team.
I enjoyed that team more than the 96 team.

You are not a fan. You are just perpetually angry if you "hate" Tubby Smith. And he coached an excellent game here to win - we did not win because we have "Rick Pitino's Players." They are UK players. Tubby Smith coached very good teams entirely with players coached by him from their first day on the team...it's unfortunate another title was not won, but we had #1 seeds a number of times, including being #1 in the nation overall entirely with players coached only by Coach Tubby Smith.
The morale of this story is Kentucky came back from almost 20 point's down to a Duke team that everyone had talked up all year, and stuck it up their ass. God evened the playing field that night for the 92 game.

As a UK fan, Tubby was not awful, and as a fan we owe him a debt of gratitude - we had a lot of teams with great individual players and haven't quite won; we have teams with a lot of good players - and played as a team and have pulled it off (please note, this goes for the other programs too). Imagine Rondo staying one more year, Morris not looking for the NBA, Anderson not getting hurt, etc., etc. the content of the team is more important than any one player - ask Michael Jordan. GO Cats!
In fall 2001, UK played Duke again in the Jimmy V Classic, with Duke winning by 3 in overtime. Supposedly, when Coach K shook Tubby's hand afterward, he said to him, "I'll see you at the Final Four." You know what that's called? RESPECT. I don't like Duke, but the fact that K would say that gives me chills! I wish these teams played every year!
Actually, we beat UNC four straight times from 2000-2003. 93-76, 79-59, 98-81, 61-56. Roy Williams described that last one as the worst effort ever put forth by a team coached by him.

I can't imagine UNC having much momentum after beating the tar (no pun intended) out of an 11-seed. Knocking off a 1-seed does a lot for a team's momentum. BTW, it sucks that the person who had the "Wildcats take home the SEC title" video removed it. Wonder why.

@madmac993 Well, we did what you asked of us. We got our revenge on Carolina. Kansas, on the other hand, wasn't so lucky with VCU. I was laughing my ass off in that game. VCU won by 10 but it wasn't even really that close. They straight kicked Kansas's ass. What a weird Final Four this is. No 1 or 2 seeds. I heard that of the more than 5 million people who filled out brackets on ESPN's website, only 2 people got this Final Four correct. Crazy.

They got revenge on Ole Miss, Alabama, Florida, and UNC for beating them in the regular season and got revenge on West Virginia for knocking them out of the tournament last year. Kentucky is on a mission. UConn will be facing a different Kentucky team than the one they saw in the Maui Invitational. As long as they contain Kemba Walker, they should win big. When he has a bad game, UConn loses.

Last time he congratulated Kentucky for something, which was when they reached #1 in the polls last season, they lost their very next game to unranked South Carolina. He's trying to jinx us again. It's hard to tell how that game will go. Even the guys on ESPN were split as to who they think will win. 2 guys went with UConn. 2 guys went with Kentucky. Regardless of how the game goes, I'm proud of how my team has done. I sure didn't expect them to get to the Final Four.

I know you're a Duke fan, but they should have had their 2001 season stripped from them for using a guy that should have been declared ineligible (Maggette) but they didn't because Coach K is an NCAA kiss-ass. Granted, Duke didn't win the national championship that year but they did go to the title game just like Memphis did the year it was taken from them.

Perhaps a good point but I'd hardly call the FF an anticlimax. The game UK had with Stanford was perhaps just as draining as this one and UK had to rally big time against Utah in the final game. Just a great tourney with some old guard teams (UK, Duke, UNC) and a fun mix of teams you don't see in the FF all that often like Stanford and Utah.

When Coach K took the mic from then legendary Kentucky play by play announcer Cawood Ledford way back in 1992 and told the UK faithful back in the Bluegrass " There were no losers in this game only a bunch of winners and the last team to touch the ball was gonna win" I gained alot of respect for the man and wish him only the best but not when dUKe is playing the cats or anyone in the SEC.

Ah, sweet revenge! Nice payback for the regional final in '92 and Kentucky went on to win the championship.
Alas, Duke prevailed in '10 thanks to the refs (Baylor and Butler were seriously hosed), but hopefully justice will prevail next season.

This is one of the best tourney games ever. This was the 2nd game on Sunday after URI-Stanford which was also a classic. 1998 was a great tourney.

Odom and Cuttino Mobley, that was a really good, but crooked URI team. Jim Harrick was their coach after he got run out of UCLA and before he ran Georgia in to the ground. Odom came to URI after getting kicked out of UNLV for taken $5g's from a booster. The whole program was corrupt at that time.

Yep - UK fans love to hate Duke, but their coach is a class act. I remember once when they beat UK and one of their players started taunting that they were ahead he called him to the sideline and gave him a huge chewing out for acting like that. He was very complimentary UK after this Duke loss and also when they won in the previous meeting.

I was 14 when this game was on....I think my heart was bursting out of my cheast the whole game. I will always remeber Cameron Mills, Scott Padget, Jeff Shepard, Nazr Mohamed, and Mark Pope, and all the other guys from that team.
I enjoyed that team more than the 96 team.
Wouldnt it figure, now Im a Marine stationed in NC. So I see NC and Duke fans all the time. Everytime I see someone in a UNC or Duke shirt I want to smash thier face with a sledge hammer.

They are UK players. Tubby Smith coached very good teams entirely with players coached by him from their first day on the team...it's unfortunate another title was not won, but we had #1 seeds a number of times, including being #1 in the nation overall entirely with players coached only by Coach Tubby Smith.

I heard rumors about Duke and UK playing games in the regular season. I say HELL NO! What makes this rivalary great is the hate/passion our two fan bases have for each other.
I think a regular season series would ruin that. Our rivalary is based on meeting deep in the tournament when Duke and UK are both on top of the basketball world.

As a UK fan, Tubby was not awful, and as a fan we owe him a debt of gratitude - we had a lot of teams with great individual players and haven't quite won; we have teams with a lot of good players - and played as a team and have pulled it off (please note, this goes for the other programs too). Imagine Rondo staying one more year, Morris not looking for the NBA, Anderson not getting hurt, etc., etc. the content of the team is more important than any one player - ask Michael Jordan. GO Cats!

In fall 2001, UK played Duke again in the Jimmy V Classic, with Duke winning by 3 in overtime. Supposedly, when Coach K shook Tubby's hand afterward, he said to him, "I'll see you at the Final Four." You know what that's called? RESPECT. I don't like Duke, but the fact that K would say that gives me chills! I wish these teams played every year!

Actually, we beat UNC four straight times from 2000-2003. 93-76, 79-59, 98-81, 61-56. Roy Williams described that last one as the worst effort ever put forth by a team coached by him.
