Great shot! The 7mm mag is a great caliber. I don't have a 7 mag anymore but I hunt hogs with my 30-06. I like a little bit of overkill on hogs because they are so tough. I shot one with a 375 H&H once he flopped right over.

It seems like it may have been a very nice pig, swine, as maybe it would occasionally give gifts to nurses or make appropriate phone calls on his best friend's birthday, or maybe the pig let an old woman have his seat on the bus one day, or maybe been very nice to others? No matter what kind of animal, it is cruel to shoot a leading female. You shoot the sow for what purpose? To reduce the no of hogs?
Stupid. This is a major reason for hogs turning destructive, alot of dumbass hunters that kill the leading sow. Pack then divide and increase in numbers with individuals that aren't brought up correctly. That is the leading sows role.
Give you an advice boy, kill some medium size pigs or pigglets and you will do yourself and the "land" a big favor.

Nice hunt! Why shooting big mother hogs? In Europe there is knowned as long back that just that give us farmers more problems. If you shoot a baby hog insted the mother hog will not go back to that potato fields in a long time. If you shot the mother the babies will be back the next night. You can shot a female hog but not when she has babies. The babies will grow and when the mother is gone male hogs will make the little female hogs pregnant. Witch will give you a lot of problems! EDUACATION!

@DDSfyi I know this is an old post, but there is a problem with the theory presented in your comment. If you kill shoats out from under a matriarchal sow, she'll take her sounder elsewhere and adjust her behavior until the sounder isn't bearing losses anymore. By taking young pigs, you are teaching the old pigs how to avoid you. When you hunt a new area, kill the big sows first. This eliminates the leadership, dumbs down the population and leaves the shoats vulnerable to predation from...
@DDSfyi (pt 2)... coyotes, wolves, cougar, or whatever the apex predator in your area is. If you shoot a shoat, you'll probably never see that sow again. If you shoot the sow, you'll probably see her shoats later that day. That's a better policy.

You still have some badmouthing about high fences, and shooting the wrong one, and bad shot, and making smartass comments on the blooper. Seems they are unwilling to be realistic, and learn. The shot was good( pig down!!), fence wouldn't hold hogs, any pig is good, and not deleting the blooper was good humor, and it takes a real man to show mistakes like that. Still a good video.
@JKAFactionz It depends on where you live. some states like mine Vermont do not allow the use of suppressors, some states may allow it. you also have to apply for one through BATFE to and pay a tax befor you can even buy one in the states.

High powered rifles have a pretty good crack even when a supressor is used. Sub-sonic rounds would be fairly silent. But super-sonic rounds (most centerfire rifles) are going to have a pretty big crack.
@HiramMaxim ya ul be aiming 5 feet over its back at that distance, a 230 grain .45 bullet is not going far at less than 1125 feet per second at the muzzle, and just to give u an idea a .22 lr is doing 1000 fps at 100 yards, so a .45 would slow down alot more than that because its heavier, i bet at 125 yards ud be lucky to be making 500fps.

There is no season on feral hogs here in Oklahoma so you can shoot them at any time. We are dealing with massive over population here so I dont expect a closed season to ever be put in place.

@conisag there is no close season for feral hogs in the entire U.S. There is a program placed by the gov. that lets hunters go after hogs anytime to try and eradicate the species since they are not native to the U.S. and cause millions of $ in damages. I live in Santa Barbara, California and there is a program that lets licensed hunters get a free boat ride to the Catalina Islands if they can prove they are going strictly for hogs.

Everyone who is making the asumpion that this is high fence is way off. What your calling a "fence" is a cattle panel my dad put up in a bad spot in a barbed wire fence that keeps the cattle in. nice shot, yeah there is an abundance of hogs in the US, we have a lot here in Florida, no limit on them. They were brought over by the Spanish during the colonial era and have adapted here since the 1500's.

You still have some badmouthing about high fences, and shooting the wrong one, and bad shot, and making smartass comments on the blooper. Seems they are unwilling to be realistic, and learn. The shot was good( pig down!!), fence wouldn't hold hogs, any pig is good, and not deleting the blooper was good humor, and it takes a real man to show mistakes like that. Still a good video.

@JKAFactionz It depends on where you live. some states like mine Vermont do not allow the use of suppressors, some states may allow it. you also have to apply for one through BATFE to and pay a tax befor you can even buy one in the states.

@joedirt6653 Pretty much the same here. But its also illegal to hunt with them. I dont own one so I'm not sure if that carries over to ferral hogs.....but I'm pretty sure it does.
High powered rifles have a pretty good crack even when a supressor is used. Sub-sonic rounds would be fairly silent. But super-sonic rounds (most centerfire rifles) are going to have a pretty big crack.

You can kill a deer at 125 yards with a .45 acp carbine.....and with a 16" barrel its subsonic all day long.

@HiramMaxim ya ul be aiming 5 feet over its back at that distance, a 230 grain .45 bullet is not going far at less than 1125 feet per second at the muzzle, and just to give u an idea a .22 lr is doing 1000 fps at 100 yards, so a .45 would slow down alot more than that because its heavier, i bet at 125 yards ud be lucky to be making 500fps.

There is no season on feral hogs here in Oklahoma so you can shoot them at any time. We are dealing with massive over population here so I dont expect a closed season to ever be put in place.

@conisag there is no close season for feral hogs in the entire U.S. There is a program placed by the gov. that lets hunters go after hogs anytime to try and eradicate the species since they are not native to the U.S. and cause millions of $ in damages. I live in Santa Barbara, California and there is a program that lets licensed hunters get a free boat ride to the Catalina Islands if they can prove they are going strictly for hogs.

Smaller hogs are good. If you shoot a big a boar they can not taste good or if they just got dun fighting or running . but under 200lbs you cant really tell the differnse

First off this is not high fence hunting you can clearly see the hogs can go under it. Second hogs are destructive animals and if it was me I would shoot the whole lot of them. Good video for filming yourself and nice shot.

Everyone who is making the asumpion that this is high fence is way off. What your calling a "fence" is a cattle panel my dad put up in a bad spot in a barbed wire fence that keeps the cattle in. The hogs run right under it. I agree fenced hunts can be unethical. But this is far from a fenced hunt. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

If you had any common sense about fences you would have seen at the very beginning that there is plenty of spaces between the strands of barbed wire for the hog to get through!! And besides all that fence is there for is either to keep cattle in or to mark the boundries of a property.
