  • Aggrolites!!!! Spirit of '69!

  • Still playing Dirty Regaee in my truck, love that album .I give this band a lot of props:)

  • !!!when your at an aggrolites show you sing along!!!

  • i want them to cover dance to the music by sly and the family stone!

  • Gotta love the boss sounds. Long live the spirit of 69.

  • Best video of a live performance on YouTube.

Ah hell, best video of a live performance EVER. I'd kill to see these dudes live.

  • @TwigDjango theyree so great

  • Oi...Nobody is special !!! Enjoy the music, great video, thanks for posting

  • @TxTFamGuy1 God, you're an anal little bore. Probably the typical middle class punk trying his best to shock his parents - grow up!

  • the first song on this video is moonhop by derrick morgan !!!!

  • Yep, you're right it is Skinhead Reggae but I'd be sooooooooo embarrassed if I didn't know that Wet Dreams was a Max Romeo song - probably why you responded with a torrent of abuse! I've seen most the acts live that your acting the keyboard tough guy over so to use your vernacular, stop being such a 'tool' and stay SHARP - you're embarrassing yourself!

  • @GJMacDaddy The topic was about Trojan anthems, Wet Dream was recorded for PAMA RECORDS not Trojan. They play a small part of Wet Dream in this clip and they put it in the middle of Moon Hop. Get your head out of your ass, I don't need to stay SHARP, I support RASH and ANTI-FA.

  • @TxTFamGuy1 Moon Hop was recorded for Crab (Pama) too by Derrick Morgan ;)

It's the same song that Skinhead Moonstomp, but the lyrics are a bit different.

Trojan and Pama were rivals, and they try to pay the best artists to do the best songs...so, who copy who?? Anybody nows... XD

    Cheers!

  • @Bixtorr Derrick Morgan recorded almost all of his Early Reggae for Pama (Crab) and Pama (and Explosion, Gas, Amalgamated, Duke, Upsetters Label, Torpedo ect.) licensed nearly all of their songs to Trojan Records. So technically most Trojan Anthems are not Trojan at all. It's true that the song playing in this vid is Moon Hop, the title says Moonstomp (which is Trojan but based on Moon Hop) and Banana was by EK Bunch/Pyramids for JAY BOY so none of these songs were ever recorded for Trojan

  • Hate to interject in this ska dick measuring contest but Wet Dream was a Max Romeo song, not Symarip

  • @GJMacDaddy This is not Ska you tool, they even said at the beginning of this video that they play Early Reggae aka Skinhead Reggae. Your gonna open your mouth over semantics yet are too stupid to know the difference between Reggae and Ska. Some dick, probably your brother, said The Aggrolites where not Trojan and shouldnt be covering these songs so I pointed out that they where the back up band for Trojan artist that toured the U.S. There wasnt enough room to mention Max Romeo anyway.

  • This is EASILY the BEST amature filming in a crowd i've ever seen of a band.... giorgioboss, i salute you sir, from a long time skinhead.

  • STOMP ALL THOSE BOOTS SO FUKKIN HARD BOIS!!!

  • I have to see these guys live. Do they ever hit the east coast?

  • @19josh77 Keep an eye out. They tour quite a bit. All over the world.

  • Haha none of the original artists were skinheads, Trojan or otherwise. (symarip weren't the guys on the lp cover)

  • @beachparty what are you stupid, skinhead reggae wasn't made by skinheads, it was made FOR skinheads. don't get it twisted. Those Jamaican artist were smart as all hell, they knew who their fans were and how important the mods and skinheads were to their music industry. Of course Symarip wern't real skins, that's why they called themselves The Pyramids when they went selling records to skinheads.

  • @TxTFamGuy1 haha re-read what was written and what it was in response too. then get off that high horse and stop trying to be boss skin of the internet, regurgitating facts even reel big fish fans are aware of.

  • @beachparty my bad that was meant for the dude below us ATOMIC116090 for his trojan comment i liked your post. Now to stay on my high horse and boot you in the teeth. I'm not SKIN I'm PUNK i just happen to love reggae. I'm not trying to be a boss, I know a lot about Jamaican music and theres LOT of people on here that have the wrong idea about it. And what is reel big fish the gayest ska band you could think of, white ska is so gay. Guitar shuffles and a horn section does not make a ska band.

  • Covering trojan skinhead anthems while they aint trojans at all :S

  • @atomic116090 what are they then? (no sarcasme hey)

  • @atomic116090 Man they have more skinhead street cred than the result of a judge dred/alton elis/buster fuck baby.

  • @atomic116090 Symarip, who wrote the songs they are covering, recorded for Trojan (how ever Banana was on Jay Boy records). Symarip was fronted by Roy Ellis aka Mr. Symarip. When Mr. Symarip toured America to promote his new album Skinheads Dem A Come, Roy Ellis hired The Aggrolites to be his backing band. I think they've earned the right to cover these songs. Besides who else could pull off these songs, you'd have to go to brazil to find a reggae band made up entirely of skinheads.

  • these guys would go off in nz

  • dude it was such a honor to see them i was so fucking happy and i didnt even know they were playing

  • Kick-ass band, kick-ass crowd.. Gotta love it!

  • 06.o5.10 at habour rock hamburg astra bühne

  • this is intense

  • lol it appears the place is empty until they start playing and everybody sings along because the crowd understands whats going on

  • RIP David Fuentes...

    You will be missed brother!!

  • yes.

  • Concert in vienna was awesome

  • tonight live in vienna

    GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • First was Symarip - Skinhead Moonstomp, mixed with Derrick Morgan's Moon Hop, then Max Romeo's Wet Dream, lastly EK Bunch - Bananas

  • sick !

  • can´t wait to see them in 2 weeks in Vienna!

  • Ace!

  • BANANA!

  • Great version of the old Symarip classic. Well done guys!

  • I watch this sometimes jst to rock out, aggrolites are sick

  • Can any one tell me where can i find this songs ?? any titles of albums of The Aggrolites ??

  • You can find it in Music Store. Try album called "Reggae Hit L.A."

  • The Specials-Skinhead Moonstomp (1979) put this in youtube

  • Hmm, more like Symarip - Skinhead Moonstomp or Derrick Morgan - Moon Hop. The second one is Max Romeo - Wet Dream, later covered by many other bands (Bad Manners for example)

  • are they gonna come out with an aggro cover album or what? cuz they make every song like 10x better

  • hopefully they do!!!! lets harass em with fan mails!!! X.x;

    Kickass band.

  • skinhead moonstompers or Moon Hop??

    YEYEYEYEYEEEEEEEEEEEE ye ye yeee yeeeeee!!!

    PUSH IT UP!!

    ....

    Me like It!!!

    yeah!!!

    hahaha

  • I saw them in concert w\ Social Distortion, and i was surprised they have a good front man. I give them props

  • yeah yeah yeah yeah yeeeeeeeeeeeah yeah yeah yaeh can some tell me where the kangaroo bit comes from

  • Skinhead moonstomp is an old ska song that has been passed around from band to band, these guys just changed the lyrics around a bit.

  • This version of Skinhead Moonstomp by the aggrolites is a mix of Moon Hop by Derrick Morgan (that's where the kangaroo jump an the moon hop comes from) and Skinhead Moon Hop by Symarip (which is just a version of Moon Hop)

  • Symarip did skinhead moonstomp, not hop

  • What a concert - I'd love to see them live. I remember the album "Skinhead Moonstomp" when it was first released in the early 70's I think. I've always liked this type of music - we used to have local mafia type gangs in those days & used to fight a lot. I've long since grown up & calmed down now mind due to age & family - good times though!

  • Banana is song by Mr.Symarip and the Pyramids.....this version is only cover..but i cannot find the original version :(

  • E.K Bunch

  • Which album is banana from? I cannot find it... :( i have skihead dem a com, moonstomp and Pyramids and Symarip seven letters....

  • banana is a song the aggrolites did on some kids TV show

dont know if it was a cover or not though

  • It's a cover of the old skinhead-reggae song, Banana by E.K. Bunch

  • Derrick morgan is the greatest...

  • Ive watched this vid countless times. It never gets old.

  • nice qualiti =D my boots wanne bounce xD

    cheers 'n' Oi!

  • SO RUDE, SO GOOD!!!!

  • BIG RECORDING!!!!!! But I think that the fisrt song is a medley of skinhead moonstomp and Do the moon-hop, different lyrics with the same riddim, I think so...

    Nuff Respect"

  • nice..i love the specials version of this sonjg...the live vid of it is sick as well.

  • Looks a good thing to be @ while being excessively drunk.Great songs to yell out loud in a different country.

  • they rule mucho

  • That's what them shows are all about! Everyone being happy and singin' that shit proud!

  • eyeyeyeyeyeah

  • Thank God for the Jamaican beat.

  • True that!

  • wow this is amazing! =)

  • but skinhead moonstomp is almost a version of derrick morgan's moon hop...

  • A good band though, yeah? Good version too? I think so.

  • technically they are playing Derrick Morgan's Moon Hop and doing the "yeah yeah yeah"s and the "three million miles to reach the moon" from Symarip's Skinhead Moonstomp . . . I just like giving proper credit where it's due.

  • Does anyone really care? Shut up and enjoy the fucking song, everyone.

  • Agreed, ska is a genre almost dependent on great covers of great songs, and this is one of them! One doesn't need to 'give credit" necause old school ska folk instantly rcognize the song, and that is compliment enough!

  • REGGAE, a tribute to 69-72 Reggae.

But Jamaicans alway's used the riddims, also from other popualr songs like the beatles. But Skinhead Moonstomp uses the Moon Hop Riddim. And How many times has the riddim that has been used in Wet Dream been used? Was the original Riddim for Wet Dream, Dreams to remember from the Hippy boys?

  • I believe the original riddim for Wet Dream is from, "Hold Your Jack," another Derrick Morgan tune.

  • Well.. these songs have the riddim too:

The Hippy Boys - Dreams to Remember

Derrick morgan - I Love You (using the same riddim twice??)

    Wasn't Hippy boys first though?

  • Wet Dream uses the Hold You Jack rhythm. Derrick Morgan did two tunes using the Wet Dream rhythn - I Love You and Hold You Jack (which was first). And this is really a cover of Derrick Morgan's Moon Hop. Skinhead Moonstomp is Symarip's version of Derrick Morgan's tune.

  • I care, cuz I was just searching for info on "I Love You" . Thanks!

    It does rock.

  • That's actually very good information. I care.

  • it is great information! who does the wet dream song?

  • Max Romeo. the songs still banned in England.

  • Max Romeo. the song is still banned in England.

  • really? :D

  • really? :D

  • May I just say Max Romeo's Wet Dream was never banned in England I brought it at Brixton Market when it first arrived in Britain and I saw it a while ago for sale on a cd. Nor was any other reggae record.

  • banned for play on the airwaves. Judge Dread has one or two in the same category.

  • I always thought it was a Max Romeo tune. Did Derrick Morgan write all the good songs?

And for the record, I think I've watched this video at least once a day for the past month. Its freakin awesome.

  • dude i spend my whole day watchin aggrolites they are the gods of reggae

  • DAMN STRAIGHT BROTHAA!!!

  • did anyone pay attention to the fact that they're not even doing skinhead moonstomp?

  • Ummm, yes they are...

  • Dude you can't go wrong covering Jamaican tunes.....it *is* a tradition in the scene and that is because it's all about ROOTS. I don't see how that makes a band less "credible". Quite the contrary in my opinion.

Sorry, but that didn't make you sound smart, it made you sound like a jackass. Try again! :P

  • wonderful... but who originally sings banana?

  • I think E.K. Bunch did Banana

  • Hey, look I think the Aggrolites are great. I have both of their albums. It was just a bit of constructive criticism.

  • divin;t be daft, this is a geet canny medaly(?) thu Aggro boys are summit ti be proud of-thi kna what it's al aboot. Glad ti see sumone's keepin' ti thi roots,an' from LA??!!?!?!

  • Ok dudes, there's a strong tradition of covering/adapting songs in Jamaican music. We're not covering new ground here, folks.

  • who cares on what they did, it's about how they did it and it sounds great to me

  • Hardly original is it. Mixing Symarips 'Skinhead Moonstomp' with Derrick Morgans 'Moon Hop' in with a medly. Specials did that in 1980. Doesn't do much for The Aggrolites credability does it? Hey, but what do I know!

  • The Specials also had their bigest hit with a Cover- "Rudy, A Message to you" originaly by Dandy Livingston. Its ska- alot of its immitation. Even "Skinhead moonstomp" is a reinterpritation of "Moon Hop."

  • Considering that 90% of the Specials best songs are covers, I hardly think your criticism has much merit. Besides, as another poster stated, doing covers of classic ska and reggae tunes is pretty much a tradition in the scene. Moonstomp was indeed a blatant and inferior remake of Moonhop, but it was and still is popular. Whatever the case, crowds love hearing bands pay tribute to classic songs. You've obviously never heard any of the Aggrolites' original stuff otherwise you wouldn't criticize.

  • Man, everyone knows "Wet Dream". It's like the most covered song in the reggae world.

  • Kind of an exaggeration. If anything 54-46 or Pressure Drop are covered much more.

  • Suprised aggrolites knew Max Romeo's Wet Dream

  • mixing skinhead moonstomp with derrick's moon hop nice

  • Actually, I've read the moonstomp was created as a cash in rip off of moon hop, which is why they are so similar

  • thats true actually. trojan wanted to beat pama to the punch and they succeeded. as much as originality is concerned moonstomp managed to overpower moon hop.

  • Excellent performance.

  • saw them in camden the other night. me and another skin got on stage in there encore when they were singing skinhead moonstomp.

  • right now. envy. barcelona.

    btw, it's "wet dream".

  • still envy and since i can't get enough of being annoying, it's not "skinhead moonstomp", but derrick morgan's "moon hop".

  • los yankis , siempre hechando charlas antes de cantar, menos charlas y mas tocar!!!!

    muy buenos! Aggrolites rule ok!

  • That's awesome. Sweet band!

  • True that.

  • Man,I love The Aggrolites SOO much.
