i think you are singing how you think that jack johnson sounds instead of listening to the guitar and singing to that, which is probably why you are flat. dont try to sound like him because chances are you cant, realize that every voice is different and learn how to use yours. and this isnt me bashing you im just giving you some advice because you are a solid guitar player
