  • if u got the 1616m dock and u what to use it on a 64 bit system u got to buy the 1010pcie card should be around $140

  • How can i configure the EMU !616m with Teamspeak 3? can anybodu help me please?

  • Watching this video showed me you can't always trust in what a person may say about a piece of gear. Which is good news. I don't know about many pieces of gear but I do know this one. That tells me that its something wrong with the user.

I've been using the emu card since the 1820m and never had one problem with it other than the ones I created by not applying myself with it

  • i HAVE ONE OF THESE AND PATCHMIX DOESN'T WORK WITH 64BIT WINDOWS. UGH. AND MY XP PC DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH RAM FOR AUDIO. LIFE IS A BITCH, AIN'T IT?

  • emu 1616 works on win 7 with vista drivers

  • meh.. video quality is not that good, maybe next time you can do without the music stuff.. all in all, not a bad video once you start explaining stuff..

  • ive godda admit i really enjoyed this video, it is always better watching someone recieve something awesome.

I do have a question though, as a noob im pretty sure theres no usb connection to the soundcard or box so do you just plug you synth into any usb without sound loss issues?

  • EMU 1616m is a piece of shit. Doesn't even work with Cubase5. And it is extremely user UNFRIENDLY.

Fuck you E-MU for wasting my time and money.

  • LAME MUSIC DUB--NOT COOL--POOR LIGHTING QUALITY--ALSO NOT COOL! WHY BOTHER IF THIS IS THE BEST YOU CAN DO?

  • who know when the wondows 7 drivers came out ??

  • LMAO AT THA CANDY IN THA BOX

  • is it compatible with windows 7 64 bit ???

  • could you make a vid about the e-mu ? just to show what you like on it and what not and so on like a little review ^^

  • nice man! im thinking about getting this card! seems so versatile, and i do alot of different electronic music as well as guitar related music!

    is the mic any good?

  • What program do you recommend for recording with this card?

When I try to record myself playing guitar there's a lot of noise on the recording ):

    How do I fix that?

    Thanks!

  • lol candy but naw i got audiotechnica at 20/20 great mic crispy

  • Kick ass tune at the end m8 !!! this one you done ??

  • is the cable come with the at 2020 ???

  • Is this one of the better soundcards. i make a variety of music. Trance reggaeton, hip hop, nu metal. i'm in serious need of understanding what a card will do for me and how it works. I just want my beats coming out super sharp when i finish a track. I invest wisely but i want my moneys worth. Anybody run me thru a couple brands i might want to look for? I don't want to go over $700. thanks

  • Oh and does anyone know the difference between the E-MU 1616 and E-MU 1616m? Is it worth paying 100 more only for an extra M in the name?

I want to use this card for making trance/techno music and recording guitar

    Thanks

    ~Maurice

  • Differences are in the mastering grade converters. I got the normal 1616 but I should have gotten the 1616m. The m stands for mastering class grade converters. I highly recommend spending the extra money for them unless your not serious about music and it's just a fun hobbie. I'm selling mine eventually. Maybe for $250 in the box too.

  • Ok, but where do I need those converters for?

Will there be differences in the sound while producing trance music with FL Studio or has it only influence on recording?

    Thanks for your replies ;)

  • Same Here, I'm working on trance and some hip hop and I'm a bit confused too! let me know as soon as you do DjMelstaitz. Thanks bud

  • the 1616m comes with a sync daughter card. it is used to keep the external or internal clock in sync with other hardware. If you do not plan to expand with much more hardware, there is no need for it. I run the 1820 EMU and is well worth the money. No problems for three years now

  • Maybe a stupid question but...

The at2020 has an USB cable. And the E-Mu 1616m doesn't have an USB port. So you aren't using the 1616m's microphone input? You are just using PC USB ports.. or am I wrong?

Thanks 4 uploading this video btw ;)

  • Hello there, monnie here on my newer music account...

The AT2020 is not USB, it has a normal XLR connection. I just connect that to the front of the Emu 1616.

    Check out my videos.

  • i have emu 0404 and audio tehnica 2020 and they make a good team

  • Nice video! I was laughing so hard when you took the knife and the music started playing :) I have the 1820m, for me it's one of the best soundcards ever made! Thank you E-MU

  • Thanks for the comment. ;D This is me on my new music acct. The Emu has been working great and strong! I had a PreSonus 2626 but ended up returning it. I got a bunch of new gear. I'll be posting those vids on this accound along with info on my new CD I worked hard on. Please sub. :)

  • hi! can you use it as a mixer and link directly to an amp??

  • It wouldn't be a good replacement for a mixer. You could go out from it to an amplified soundsystem. Alesis makes a nice inexpensive mixer that you can use as a regular mixer and also connect it via usb to your computer to record. It costs about $150

  • You made a 9 minute video to show others what it would be like to open the box? You, my friend, have way too much time. I'm too busy making music to make videos of product box openings. I was actually looking for someone who was making music with the equipment. I'd expect this from a teenager but not a thirty year old. This is pretty creepy when you think about it. What's next? A Gibson guitar case opening? Yikes!

  • I second that motion.

  • I'll make a video with a quick run thru preview of some of my songs if you guys like.

  • Oh no! Another 9 minute demo! Demos should be made like you're paying $100,00 a minute to show them. Short and concise. I don't need to see the box being opened. I'm gone after one minute.

  • *Points to title* It's not a demoing of the unit. It's an UnBoxing with some comments just so you get to see what it's like if you buy one. Except this way you don't have to buy it without knowing what you get, because you saw this video. :)

  • Let me guess you got your gear from Sweetwater. LOL I bought a keyboard from them a few years back and my bag had Candy in it as well. Cheers!!

  • Yeah lol I love it. It's always a special treat hehehe.

  • candy ?? CANDY lol

  • Oh and the EDI wire/cable is just a standard Ethernet or LAN cable, with magnetic shieldng (the circular magnetic things at both ends of the cable).

So basically you could hook up a 20 foot lan cable to that sucker and use it in the next room or whatever!

Dont use a crossover cable though, as supposively it could damage the unit, but im not too sure about this.

  • I recently bought the 1616 pcmcia version for my laptop and im really impressed with it.

The cool thing is, that i can get a PCMCIA - PCI adapter, to use with a desktop.

And i can get a PCMCIA - Express card adapter to use it with new laptops.

The pcmcia card alone is awesome, it has all the zero latency DSP effects built into it so need to connect the microdock/box to use them, and theres hardly any noise either.

  • hi, say u load up a daw(digital audio station e.g. cubase)please..what is your idle cpu load..i.e. with all plugins switched off...its just i have a emu 0202 external usb interface...at idle it uses about 15 percent cpu(of 3gz pentium)this is for the usb connection...

  • Are you using Asio4all instead the Emu Asio driver, in audio setup.

Upto last night Ableton Live used took ages to load and freeze when i was using Asio4all,

Switched to Emus asio last night, and it loads up much faster with Abletons processor usage peaking at 3% only for a split second.

Asio4all achieves better latency (on crap soundcards anyway) at the cost of using higher CPU.

Id say this COULD be the reason, hopefully!

  • Oh and btw, anyone with an E-mu or any interface,

should check out producerforums (dot com) and theres a support section of each manufacturer and model of audio interfaces!

  • hi many thanks...yes im using asio4all now thanks to you dude..im not using a usb interface anymore...they have far to high a cpu hit

  • Yeah I'm thinking I will probably end up buying the PCMA card for laptop to do live shows. I was going to sell my Emu1616 but it is very reliable. I had bought a Presonus Firestudio2626 firewire but it has some common issues attributing to the firewire. I really need to finish editing that video unboxing/review to put it up.

  • good video, looking at the 1616 and 1212 cards to buy sometime soon. both have what i need but the 1616 might be a bit too much for me at the moment. ill probably buy the 1212 then upgrade later.

  • x-fi is a games card and the 1616 is for music so how is the x-fi better

  • at 5 mins in are you talking useing this mic cuz i her a lot of ur pc some what over you i thinking of geting this mic also for net radio stuff like that but in thatis video it sounds like it picking background noise did you just have it real hight or what and i think you can talk in to the top of it not shure can someone help out with this

  • I didn't really see the point of the "M" converters. The 24bit 192khz converters that come with the standard 1616 are fine. As far as I'm aware, the X-FI series doesn't come with VST hardware acceleration like the standard 1616 and the 1616M.

  • 1616 don't have master volume knob,is it bad? or you can use headphone level control for this?

  • It does not have a master control knob unfortunately. But for headphones monitoring it does have a volume for that. It's not like the Presonus which does have one. Just have to use the system tray icon to pull up the GUI

  • Sweetwater is the best company I've ever dealt with. And yes they always send some candy with all orders. Amazing customer service.

  • wtf candy - wow that is something i have never seen before

  • wooow now thats awesome they give candy!!!!!!!!!1

  • tha at2020 receives sound from the up part?

or just the laterals??? i wanna buy one for a radiostudio. Greets

  • Laterals i.e. the side. It's a condensor. Great mic for the price. :)

  • how much u got it brah

  • nice set-up

  • is the EMU 1616 used as the Preamp to power the AT2020?

  • why was there candy??

  • So did you get the Novation ReMote SL? I have one if you have any questions.

  • I did. I have the UnBoxing video made I just have to upload it. I got lots of questions. I'll have to mail you.

It seems like if I want to work on a previous song that I need to load up an automap version of that VST which is a huge pain. I have to backup all the patches I made and reload them. For some reason Halion VST Automap version won't recognise the soundbanks made with non-automap version. And they said it's ready "right out of the box" :/

    P.S. Emu 1616 for sale.

P.S. Emu 1616 for sale. Putting it up on Ebay soon I can use the money.

  • Man I laughed at the candy, that's awesome!

  • hey. do you have any problems with the 1616m such as with the 1820m? Also, would it be possible to use this sound card with the m-audio 24/96? I would like to have protools m-powered for mastering and the emu would be strictly for sampling. Thanks in advance!

  • I've read on AudioForums the 1820 has some issues but I don't remember what they were. The 1616 is awesome EXCEPT the software is a pain in the but! Are you trying to go out from your PC to a laptop? If so you can do that but with the 1616 you don't need the 24/96.

I just ordered a PreSonus FireStudio 2626 which I will do an unboxing of as well as a Novation SL25. Then I'm going to ebay this 1616.

  • All vids should be MORE like this; less chat about the parts, we all know what they are. No bs installing (I'm sure most of us can manage that). Fast opening, instant final setup; great!

Quick audio demo would have been nice though, thanks anyway!

  • thanks for the vid...i hope u r making good music

  • I'm getting more gear I'll be making more unboxing vids. I'll be having more music soon. A month or so.

I'm also selling this thing. The 1616 is awesome in every way except the interfect is a pain to say the least. I'm waiting on the MOTU 838mk3 comes out in march

  • Hi Monnie110,Thanks for the Video,I really liked it! I was planing on ordering the 1616M PCI today or soon after. But after reading what you said I am a little concerned. I don't have more then $400 to spend on a card right now. 1st you said the "software is a pain in the but!"then you said "The 1616 is awesome in every way except the "interfect" did you mean to say interface. Can you please give me more advice, and maybe make a video, showing what you don't like about the 1616,Thanks

  • LMAOooo

    candy?! :S

    CANDY!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  • wtf candy!

  • ...a have emu 1212 and now i bye AT2020 but a cant found cable for thet.. did he use special cabel for him (i try with oriinal cable from sure 58 and some other standart cable, dont work)..cant anybody help me....tanks ...

  • I don't know about the AT2020 but the cable connecting the EMU breakout box to the PCI card is just a stantard network cable. You might be interested to know that the PCI card that comes with the breakout box is an EMU 1212, so you may be able to buy the breakout box separatly and connected it striaght to your 1212.

  • nice dude, I dig all music, personally been working on a 'metal' project with mass amounts of vst plugins though,...i planned to buy a 1616m and build a new system but I'm thinking of just getting the laptop version, not sure though...I have a Dell Inspiron 710m (2gig, 1gig ram) just tired of waiting to record! I'm gonna snag some m-audio BX8s for monitors...and I have/play multiple instruments!!!!!! MONEY, RECORDING!

  • Now this the way to present a video when you showing new gear and opening boxes.

    Well Done.

I have an Emu 1212m on the way here.

Can't wait but I wish I got the mdock as well.

Owell -that'll be next followed by the Emulator x2

    EMU rulez!

  • ummmmmmmmmmm. yeah got one of these.....tried to do some 192khz recording and then my computer just broke down crying..........thats why i stick at most to 24/96..u know?! via pod xt as i guitarist or supposedly...

  • i mean audi technica at 2020

  • i have the same mic ausio technica at 2020

  • You need to get Emulator X to compliment your setup, it's friggin' awesome, especialy the twist-a-loop functions!

  • can you post more videos of the at2020 working and how it sounds

  • how does the at 2020 work

  • It works great for the price it's a great deal. It's a popular seller.

  • p.s emu patchmix is one of the greatest advancements to my system. yeah , its a tough one to get your head around to begin with, but wow when you know it , its a god send for music routing.

  • doesn't it make a magical difference when the company you buy from does their job as described.

i wont go into my purchases this year ,but it seems to me that the internet is a licence for various companies to treat you like a 3rd grade consumer.(oh yeah, after you give them you money)

    sweetwater is a great company.

    peace have fun.

  • ahhhh boxes inside boxes, inside a box

  • Re-rated for the suggestion. 5/5 :)

  • One star for having music in an unboxing video.

  • /cry Harsh! I didn't know people would like to hear the crinckling of paper over music. Well noted! If you watch the video again, lower down the volume and crinkle some paper by your ear while you watch. Thanks for the comment :)

  • lOOKS GREAT! WHY DIDN'T YOU GET A BOOM STAND?

  • I should of gotten one. I am going to have to order one and also a Pop Filter. I forgot bout those. Thanks for comment.

  • Makes things better however I keep hitting the boom! I've not used one of the pop filters just watch mike placement! However I am not singing on my videos. And the POP wakes sleeping viewers!

  • Get a metal gaze plosive screen. Work just as well and easy to clean.

  • SHWEET! I want it ...you should mix me a birthday song ..my birthday is Thurs hehe *smiles evilly*

  • Heya Angel! :D Thanks for the comment. I would love to! I've been so busy lately running around and trying to setup projects. Trying to make things happen. We shall see what the future holds.

  • Hey there, I now what it's like to un-box that thing, I got the exact one! The patchmix is complicated but u can sample copyright protected DVD's easy, just insert send (output to ASIO/WAVE or Physical out) then choose your asio inputs! The headphone amp is pritty good and the turntable input is excellent but best of all I like the blue light!
