My home town was Rancho Cucamonga and I'm a proud graduate of EHS, class of 1987. It's nice to see some support out there. Marriage isn't taught in schools. California's Education Code says that anything Family, Health or Sexual Education related has to have approval of the student's parents before being taught.

The way I see it is, I can't go to a Jewish Church and FORCE them to baptism my child so why would Homosexuals go to a Christian church that won't support them when they could just go to a church that does (Unitarian for example)? I have no problem with gay marriage, as long as the recognition comes through legitimate political means — either through referendum or legislative action. California voters have now twice stated by referendum that they do not want to grant government recognition of marriage to same-sex couples. Thats a pretty clear message that the people of California do not want a public policy that gives official recognition to same-sex couples, outside of partnership contracts.

The difference constitutionally is that there is no comparison between gender and race.
Men and women are inherently different, but blacks and whites (and yellows and browns) are inherently the same. Therefore, any imposed separation by race can never be moral or even rational; on the other hand, separation by sex can be both morally desirable and rational. Separate bathrooms for men and women is moral and rational; separate bathrooms for blacks and whites is not.

I grew up as a member of the LDS church and was involved in cub scouts, little league, had a paper route, went camping, and was basically like all other boys, but... I happen to be gay. My home town was Rancho Cucamonga and I'm a proud graduate of EHS, class of 1987. It's nice to see some support out there. As a lesbian, I grew up only exposed to heterosexuality in books and films and yet, I STILL turned out gay so no matter what is taught in schools (and it won't be), it won't affect your kids' sexuality in the least. People can get sued for not marrying gays? That's just wrong. I'm leaning to 'yes on 8' just cuz too much is forced. 4 judges over 61%?

Marriage isn't taught in schools. California's Education Code says that anything Family, Health or Sexual Education related has to have approval of the student's parents before being taught.

How dare these gay and lesbians say they are being targeted and hated against. Everyday I put up yes signs and they are vandalized and tore down. My friends car had his back window busted out because he had a yes on 8 sticker on his car. There are many yes on 8 supporters being victimized and intimidated. NOW IF THE SHOE WAS ON THE OTHER FOOT AND THIS WAS HAPPENING TO GAYS, THERE WOULD BE A FEDERAL INVESTIGATION.

Unless someone can tell me that people will be free to choose to provide service or not to homosexuals and heterosexuals without fear of being sued, Ill vote Yes on 8. Remember the fertility doctor in San Diego, sued for refusing services to a lesbian couple? No one should be forced to provide services to homosexuals (or heterosexuals) if it goes against their values.If homosexuals dont have the same rights,fix that another way. Don't redefine marriage & force homosexual values on everyone.

I strongly agree Mary. I want my church to be able to perform my marriage when the day comes. but that cant happen if Prop 8 doesn't pass because my church wont go against Christian beliefs and marry homosexuals. and it's anyone's right to refuse there services to anyone. but the homosexuals will be very quick to sue people for that, and for some reason they always seem to win those law suits too. Protect marriage. and remember, God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.

The way I see it is, I can't go to a Jewish Church and FORCE them to baptism my child so why would Homosexuals go to a Christian church that won't support them when they could just go to a church that does (Unitarian for example)? Churches, along with other such service providers have the right to refuse aformentioned services.

Just so you know, that was my giant yellow No on 8 sign. A man who spent a few hundred dollars on it gave it to me after I talked to him and changed his "yes" vote to "NO!"
We then peeled the yes off and put a No on it. YEAH NO ON 8!

I agree that the YES people could have been a little more polite, but they have every right to be on that corner too. I think it's pretty shady that the no peeps copied the YES banner so blatantly.
I love everyone, and I believe that family is the most important thing on Earth. That's why I'm voting YES on Proposition 8!
