It is a shame and a disgrace that so many of Patrick Troughton's episodes are missing. What we need, is a high-profile media campaign to recover the lost episodes which someone must have given house-room too. Yes, many are lost forever, but there must be some more out there.
It'd be better if there were subtitles saying what he's saying sometimes because some of his best lines are spoken. For example - when they're on the apron at Gatwick Airport and the Policeman sees them all he can think to say is : "Scatter!"
yeah yeah yeah this is real fun esspecially the end with Pat doint the thumbs up himself i was there inthe 1960's and can still recall how much real fun we had way bfore the internet ever exsisted we had to go out and do our w own stuff make our own fun but this kind of stuff sure did help ah to go back there and to relive it again how i want to do that ah well great job i had to lauhg along wiht this one
Totally brilliant video. You've done a wonderful job matching up the pics with the lyrics. Super great footage and a really great song. Thank you for giving us Patrick in grand fashion.
This is extremely well edited. It captures both the spirit of the Patrick Troughton era as well as the stylistic spirit of the film "A Hard Day's Night". Brilliant. :)
Patrick Troughton is my 3rd favorite Doctor of all and I just love mixing Beatles music with Doctor Who so I love you video (I usually mix Beatles music with the 4th Doctor though because he's my favorite)
That's from an interview on a show called Pebble Mill at One, a popular lunchtime chatshow in the 70s and 80s, presented from the BBC's Pebble Mill studios in Birmingham. I think he was interviewed as part of the 10th anniversary celebrations of Doctor Who and the full interview is available on The Three Doctors (1972) DVD
Not a live version, just a different take of it in the studio - one in which John loses it but keeps going. Really unusual but excellent choice of music as it suits the more comedic style of the clips. Great video!
It's a clip from a lost epsiode that the BBC destory back in the 1970's. It's one of the few clips that surive from that lost epsiode of Patrick Troughton.
It's a clip from the episode, The Seeds of Death, however unlike WarshipAngelus said, that serial is infact complete and available to buy on DVD!
SPOILER! - The foam (a fungus to be exact) sucks oxygen from the air if I remember correctly, the Ice Warriors use it in an attempt to make the Earth's atmosphere more like Mars
I'm afraid I'm not really up on my Beatles, and when I *cough cough* downloaded the track *cough cough* I didn't know it was an alternative version of the proper song!
SecretiveBus, man, you're my all time favorite Doctor Who geek. (I mean this as a compliment.) Excellent job here, as always - but what's with Troughton's thumb at the end there?
this is wonderful! than for makin it:)

Bbc should be hung for destroying almost all of the Troughton era!!!!My fav doctor,& theres a small handful of his work left!!!
rebelrecording 1 year ago
@rebelrecording The BBC had no option. Even if they could afford to keep them, the actor's union Equity still stated that they had to be destroyed.
Anyway, the BBC could see no further use for these episodes at the time. There were no home VCRs and no-one thought there would be.

Who was that doing the song? It wasn't the standard version that's for sure. Can we expect a Pertwee tribute any time soon?
barttheanorak 3 years ago
It's sung by the Beatles, for sure. But I think this is a live version. However, it is very nice. Beatles and Doctor Who are both made of awesome.
