i think terry hall wrote this song as well as providing the backing vocals. if it were not for his chorus harmonies during the tune, it would be only average at best. basically, he saves his own song. well done, terry!

Indeed. The lyrics and the music together create the masterpiece here; along with the perfect delivery of the vocals by Ian and Terry. "HANDS DOWN" folks; this one will be always be remembered as an alternative classic that STILL to this day sounds fantastic with LYRICS that make perfectly great "SENSE".
