Lars and the rest of the band would have done well to listen to Torben. They should have deleted the ALL tracks from St. Anger, and started over from scratch. That 's what more bands need in the studio with them, people who aren't there to just kiss their asses, and agree with everything they say, and do. Where was lars father when metallica was recording load, and reload? "delete that" Lars father had great words of wisdom "delete that"
I fuckin´love Metallica, but this is not a good material, at lest for St. Anger. Anyway, the musical style of the album is just perfect, so much anger and hate...Long live Metallica!!!.
The all knowing wizard should have advised them to destroy all of the abominations that were created after the black album. That thing he does with his beard is just fucking epic, lol.
I like that music, it gives the a feeling that gives a message of like " Hey it's time to decide if i want to live or die, and i choose to live" if you know what i meen, it really gives a epic feeling, but still, it vould also make the album ST.ANGER like a more soundtrack begining wich i dont like, so, i really dont think so that it vould have done any good for the fans or the band. But i still like it haha!!
I've been searching and searching again for this entire track for sooooo long now!!! if anyone knows anything about this absolutely awesome souding track, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!!
Try to listen to his music. Pure death and bliss at the same time. He is from 1928, still kicking, played Wimbledon (tennis) almost every year from 1948 to 1973. Last pro match in 1977. Wicket.
Watching the movie, I thought he would like it. The song is very atmospheric and sounds like music such as Type O Negative or Fear Factory (two of my favorite bands). Now saying that, it wouldn't be Metallica because Metallica are far from atmospheric, but I still think Lars' dad would like that because one: he does look like Gandalf and two: when you look like Gandalf, you would think that you would like spiritual and atmospheric music, lol.
I think the best feedback Lars could have got is: it doesn't sound like Metallica. but it's 100 miles away from stupid or sissy. it sounds awesome, but it probably wouldn't suit the badass image they want.
his dad sounds exactly like him, and Lars seems like he's scared of him because you can tell he's acting overly sarcastic with his face being red and stuff.
lol the intro sounded like something linkin park woulda done for an intro, that and torben looks alot like Gandalf or that wizard played by christopher LEE
what? they're good friends and i have the right to say what i think, im not insulting metallica and im not saying their not gods, they are the biggest metal band today
I like "Echo Chamber" (a nickname that's been used for the song:)
I would have agreed with Bernstein, a really atmospheric track that could have opened the record... IF it would have turned out to be something with depth. It wouldn't have fitted on an album full of raw (in good or bad sense of the word) metal.
Yea I'd say stoner doom sounds about right, but that's not really Metallica. Good or bad, Met songs have always had LIFE in them. That just sounded like a depression. Someone sinking to the bottom of the ocean. Might dig it from another band.
Well Torben is right. And he is just being honest in a nice way. I think Lars appreciate his honesty. Torben have always supported Metallica and us danes love him. Gandalf of metal:) LOL
Torben was a decent jazz player himself (played with Miles Davis among others) after being a tennis pro, but as far as the metal goes... well he has no clues imho.
I know, can you imagine a track like that being the opener? Imagine this: eventually it builds up to a disorted, but melodic power chord progression, before descending into thrash fury that is reminiscent of their 80s albums.
Sure, the whole soft opener thing has been used three times already. But seriously, at this point, who wants Metallica to try expanding their musical boundaries? Just give us a progressive speed/thrash metal album.
lol should have told them to delete the drum tracks and start over before putting the album out.
