I was at the World Juniors game between USA and Latvia. The tournament was in Canada (Saskatchewan) and the fans were really behind Latvia the whole way (other than when Canada played them ;) ).

Latvia lost 12-1 against USA but when Latvia scored against the Americans, all 12,000 people in the stadium went nuts! They cheered for Latvia like it was Canada that had just scored against USA.
