If you know anything about skating the mutt was the first one to do an ollie. case closed quit arguing I clicked on this video half knowing there would be stupidity brewing.
the ollie originated from Alan 'Ollie' Gelfand, who did it on vert by sliding up his front foot bringing the himself and the board higher into air but Rodney Mullen was the first one to do it on a flat ground with a pop.
OMG YES!!! plz believe me read what egderegor wrote. i am from oakland park which is 2 minutes from ft.lauderdale. that is where carl and all his family is from... plz believe me this is crazy.!
guys im not even kidding my friend who is a year older than me is named carl gelfand, he said his uncle created the ollie. i didnt believe him and just thought that he was saying that because they have the same last name but after talking to his parents they claim that this is indeed his uncle alan. guys please thumbs up show i can show carl!!!!
@eyeridealmost ignorant shit... mullen was the first one to do it flat , alan gelfand invented in in a ramp , but it was moore of a scoop, and btw now youre the one looking like a fucktard
We skated with Alan for a few years. They had a park in Ft.Lauderdale Solid Surf. That is when Stacy Parelta brought a clear half pipe from Cal. It was a sphere in one end they would go upside down. Allan would ride the pool olie out slam the coping and slide 10 feet or so. GOOD TIMES
That is allan he was about 11. He started the olie on the slops then took it to the big pipe. That is Skateboard USA hollywood Florida. He used to olie on to the fence
allen "ollie" now owns a vw car shop in florida. how crazy i worked for him before i knew who he was and i asked him to get back on the skateboard and he said he would break his tailbone if he got back on.
@fatbinki Weird, in an interview from last year he stated he didn't skate 'enough' anymore. But he still occasionally rides his ramp @ his 'german car depot'. And @ olliewood. Could be it was a republished article though.
quit fukin hatin. if it wasnt for this guy an ollie would be called a rodney. and who wants to go around saying 'hey guys i just rodneys my first 10 set' :L
lmao i wonder if those kids thought they looked cool doing that turning shit on their banana boards, looking back they look like a bunch of fags... all they had was turning and eventually ollieing tho i guess
@lordvedron hence the words "i wonder" douchebag, i have respect for skaters like mullen and peralta but not for idiots like you, so yea i have "some" respect
@lordvedron Have some respect? Alan "Ollie" Gelfand ditched skating one year later i.e. the very instant that skating died. Alan "Ollies" weren't the ollies that we know - they were no hands aerials - which made skating on the streets not something that was pretty much useless. Alan Gelfand doesn't deserve any respect from anybody! Fuck him! You give respect to the other skater from Florida who skated for Powell Peralta who stuck it out and did a proper trick called the McTwist.
fronside air is the act of grabbing your board and going front side he did a front side ollie still an ollie even though it was on a vert ramp it doesnt matter still an ollie
@PrimeSkateShopFanboy Just getting off the ramp back then was an ollie man. This was in fact the first ollie, and the trick wouldn't later evolve until Rodney Mullen would figure out how to do it on flat ground.
this was when pool skating just started there was no reason to even really ollie in the street yet this was just based off of alvas first fs air and he did it with no hand and then the ollie as we know it now developed from that
@The97skaterdude No, skateboarding first started in 1958 fool. Lmfao, it was created for simulation of surfing. People rode longboards, no skateboards like freestyle boards we use now of days untill the mid or late 80's. 1978 was when people just started making shorter versions of the long board. They didn't have the under over tail yet. "so lol"
you moron retard. This was 1979, this was the first ollie and were not even a sperm! everything starts from there. You stupid ignorant kid with no respect. Stop skate and go watch tv eating burgers. That's the thing for you.
@TaskForce0 - Dude, Alan Gelfand DID invent the ollie in the late 70s. The frontside air was made popular by Tony Alva (he admit that he wasn't the first one to do it) but the problem was that he was early grabbing it and foop the coping. The only thing that Rodney did was take Alan's trick and did it on flatground when he slowed down a tail-to-nose transfer trick. It even mentions on the book. I have read that book (The Mutt)13-14 times (literately!!) to even realize that.
also if you wanna try to say im wrong fuckin google it lol

@The97skaterdude
its not really proved whove made the first ollie on flat,
alongside mullen there were a bunch of other skaters, like mark gonzales and natas kaupas, who couldve been the first to do a ollie on flat.
i dont think that mullen himself said that he was the first one,
i would like to see it if its for real.
