I think you are misunderstanding carisongbird about love vs salvation. She is talking about how God still loves the sinner. She is not talking about "automatic salvation".
He loves us unconditionally! We are not saved unconditionally. We have to accept his love, we have to run to his open arms, we have to repent to receive the forgiveness that he's already offered and we have to be reconciled back to him. He's waiting but until we repent we can't be intimate.
Just like a marriage. A wife can forgive her cheating husband and offer that forgiveness, but there is no true intimacy, not reconciliation until he repents and receives her forgiveness. Cant receive it if you don't think you need to be forgiven.
The song and Misty have half of the equation right...Jesus loves us so much. The question is, "How are we to love Him in this new covenant?" The answer is by keeping the One Commandment He gave us in John 15:12 to "love one another as I have loved you." This commandment, that Jesus owned as "My commandment" is so much bigger than to Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind and your neighbor as yourself. Because He now lives inside of us as believers, loving one another is Huge!
