  • THANK YOU!! For posting how to do this!! I'd read about it and wathced clips of the track but nowhere said how to do it until now!! (I though it had somehting to do with backmasking) I'm going to go out to my car and try it right now!

  • this on their myspace

  • crazy i just tried that and if you get it perfectly to the start of the bonus song you hear someone say "what huh"

  • i got excited. this is present on the itunes version though, so i've heard it before!

  • i like the ball scratch at 1:32..

  • Impossible not to do with pajama pants. too comfy.

  • Real song for the deaf

  • Also in this track is a few more seconds of the Track 1 opening noise. At the beginning of the album you hear someone getting in the car, and KLON radio comes on. In the pregap track, you hear the rattling of the keys and such.

  • oh ive had this on my mp3 for ages without knowin u had to do all that, I just thought it was a pointless fill in

  • Strange....like a Horror movie lol

  • i found it by accident and i was like uhhh... wtf?

  • I tried this with my UK-edition, and after trying it on my pc and my stereo, it finally worked on an old discman to one of my flatmates. Awesome!

  • holy fukk!thats nuts!

  • Try rewinding further. I seem to remember that the track starts out with an electronic voice saying something like:

    "Hello? What?"

  • the reason they called this album songs for the deaf was josh had this joke saying that when the album came out it was never going to be played hence no one hearing it. :) qotsa for life

  • Is there a reason for the sound being so akward? I mean, since it's a "pregap" does it mean it can't be made with better quality than this or is it just them having really bad fantasy and couldn't come up with something better :P ?

  • How the hell didn't I know about this...?

  • I don't know if it's any connection, but at one point the fake radio DJ on track one says '..songs for the deaf: you can't even hear it' Maybe it's a clue about this song for the deaf that you can't hear... unless you rewind the cd. Or it could be coincidental

  • its a song for the deaf because its all just vibrations. wooooooooooah i know.

  • That's right, apparently deaf people can hear the song because the pitch is so low and bassy that they can feel the vibrations on their ear drums.

Hence why people call it 'The Real Song for the Deaf'.

  • lol

  • I just tried that and I think that it is so cool! I can't believe I didn't discover that until now and I've had for about four years now.

  • ^^ Glad you found it useful. I think I stumbled across it on accident a while ago, and just let it be. Then when I made the vid for a friend, he agreed I should put it on youtube. The wiki site mentioned lower shows a whole plethora of CD's that have it as well.

  • Very useful.I'm gonna do it on my cd.

    Thanks a lot.

  • Hey, no problem. Trevorsteph is right, if you wiki "pre-gap" you'll get a really long list of CD's that have pre-gaps to them. Pretty interesting thing to do.. a nice treat to an album if the pre-gap is worth it.

  • Yeah, it's called a pre-gap.

Look it up on Wikipedia, it explains what it is and they'll give you a list of popular albums that have it.

  • or could it be because nobody hears it since it isn't the first track?

  • the song is called "The Real Song For The Deaf" because deaf people (or hard of hearing, like myself) can feel the vibrations.

  • That's sweet. I remember that being it's official title, but I didn't know why they did it for that reason. Thanks for the inside info.

  • ya its on wikipedia
